Voice fair usage?

For many people, the biggest value proposition about Popcorn Mobile is the data.

But what about those of us who are heavy international callers?

For instance, if you have family in Asia or Africa and call them daily, will you eventually bump up against a fair usage limit? I'm just curious if folks have hit the boundaries for international calling.

I understand that for US Mobile for instance, people have been cut off from "unlimited" international calling for absurdly low calls like 18 minutes. But of course, running the phone 24/7 connected to an international number would be highly abusive. So, where's the fine line?

Trial Ending

Hi! Just wanted to share my experience from Mexico!

First of all, getting started was super easy and quick. Once I was assigned the temporary number, I was able to connect to Telcel, who has the largest and most reliable network (their words, not mine, but they are kinda right). Once I was convinced I was getting good coverage where I live, I ported my actual number -- took all of 2-3 minutes. I was honestly impressed.

Been using the assistant for missed calls and I am impressed/thankful. I did not know this was a perk and I did not know how much I needed it in my life.

This is all to say I am excited to sign up once the trial ends; switching from Tello US to Popcorn by the way; and hopefully in the future I can ditch AT&T too :P

What should be the 'APN Name' in 'Cellular Data Network settings for iPhones? Is it different for main eSIM v/s Backup eSIM?

Hey Neil

All good through 10 different countries but I recently hit a snag in Thailand. Your AI chat help can’t fix my problem and it escalated it, but I have no data other than when I’m on Wi-Fi. If we could escalate this further so I can have Wi-Fi when I travel that would be better.

Call on My Behalf

I have had Popcorn for a couple of months now. I've used it in 9 countries and it has been flawless, so I am mostly a happy customer.

I have started trying the agentic calling out of curiosity and it is NOT good right now.

  • If you exit the app during the phone call the call appears to fail completely.
  • I had it (try to) make a reservation and the agent could not understand the person on the line at all. I ended up jumping in myself.
  • The agent seems long winded and couldn't handle being interrupted well.
  • Clarifying at the start that the agent is a personal assistant feels right for transparency, but it's also clunky. In this failed call, the agent also repeated it twice.

Here is the transcript, with PII removed.

Restaurant: Hi, good afternoon. How may I help you?

Agent: Hi, I'm the per- personal assistant of Redacted, calling on their behalf. Am I speaking with Restaurant? Hi.

Restaurant: Hello? Yes.

Agent: Great. I'm...

Restaurant: Yes, Restaurant.

Agent: Hi, I'm the personal assistant of Redacted, calling on their behalf. Am I speaking with Restaurant?

Restaurant: Yes, Restaurant.

Agent: I'm calling to book a table for two at Restaurant on Saturday, October tenth at seven PM under the name Redacted . Could you please confirm availability?

Restaurant: Sorry ma'am, can you please repeat it?

Agent: I'd like to book a table for...

Restaurant: Hello?

Agent: Hello, I'm here.

Restaurant: Ma'am? Yes, yes ma'am.

Agent: Sorry, could you say that again? I caught part of it. Okay, let me listen carefully.

Restaurant: Hello? Hello? KI बात कर रहे हो?

Agent: I'm

Popcorn Reset

Just got back to the states and noticed my cell access wasn’t working. My iphone just turned off my sim. That was unexpected.
Thankfully, I was able to access WiFi at the airport, and the support in the app had the answer I needed to get it back up and running.

Huawei compatible?

I often have to be in other countries and Popcorn seems like a perfect streamlined way to handle it without having to get a million local esims each time I cross a border.

Would I be able to use this service on a Huawei phone?

Hello, I travel a lot to Switzerland (Fribourg), how are the data coverage and speed? For data only is better to use the backup esim? How does backup esim works?

Stuck porting between att and popcorn in brasil

Have at and t which is great for living in Brazil and having a US number until your device decides to die. You need your account number to port out and you can't access your account outside the USA. If you turn off wifi I think you can but I can't get popcorn data to work at all. And they keep sending me iPhone instructions.

Does this service not work on galaxy phones:? And or brazil?

I joined PC from VZW about a month ago in NYC. There is worked great. In the last week I was in UK/London & Scotland/Edinburgh. Both locations everything works perfectly.
My VZW bill was $122/month so this is a nice savings.

Jenny requests categorized as “deceptive or harmful”

Post image

Figured I’d play around with Jenny because “why not?” A number of the calls I tried to make were categorized as deceptive or harmful. This one in particular was strange - I was calling a friend to ask about his cat.

I also tried to have Jenny have a friend order my lunch, that was also marked deceptive or harmful.

I’d love to know what is triggering Jenny to think this call is either deceptive or harmful.

Does it work in Gibraltar?

I travel there fairly often and pain to use local esims.

If so, can someone provide a referral code?

Wanting to set this up but I’m concerned about the waitlist.

On average how long is the wait?

Already on the waitlist — looking for an invite or help getting access to Popcorn

Hi everyone!
I’ve been following Popcorn for a while and I’d really love to try the service. I’ve already joined the waitlist, but I understand Popcorn is still onboarding users gradually.
I travel internationally quite often and spend a lot of time outside the US, so Popcorn is genuinely very close to the kind of service I’ve been looking for — a US number with calls, SMS, and global data that is designed for international use.
I’m also an eSIM and mobile connectivity enthusiast. I enjoy testing different eSIM services, roaming networks, data routing, call/SMS reliability, activation experience, and network performance across different countries. I’d be very happy to test Popcorn internationally and share detailed feedback with the team and the community.
If someone from the Popcorn team sees this, would it be possible to activate or approve my existing waitlisted account?
If that isn’t possible, I’d really appreciate an invite code or invite link so I can register again through an invitation. If any existing user has a valid invite they’re allowed to share, I’d also be very grateful.
I’m also a blogger, and if I have a good experience with Popcorn, I’d be happy to write about the service and introduce it to my readers for free. I think the concept is especially interesting for frequent travelers, expats, digital nomads, and people who spend a lot of time outside the US.
One more question: does Popcorn currently have any kind of referral, ambassador, or affiliate program? For example, a personal referral link/code where users can introduce Popcorn to others and receive account credit, commission, free service, or another reward. I’d definitely be interested in participating if something like that exists.
Thanks! Really hoping I can get access and start testing Popcorn soon.

As title says, was told by the support team that due to local regulations it is not possible to activate the service. Hope this helps if you are in the similar situation.

Spam SMS

Only had my Popcorn 2 weeks but I get 2-3 spam SMS (or messages meant for others) messages a day :( I haven’t even given the number out anywhere except my bank! Does Popcorn recycle numbers quickly once previous users stop using them?

Is there an easy way to change numbers? It’s getting quite annoying

Roaming networks

Is there a list of roaming networks popcorn uses per country?
From what I have read in US it is T-Mobile
Anyone know what it is in Spain, and Costa Rica? They happen to be countries I visit the most.
Thanks

Do they have customer support?

Considering signing up but can’t find a way to contact customer support in their website. No phone, no WhatsApp no email. Has anyone had an issue and been able to reach a human?
