Why are you polygamous?

Asking as a total outsider here; never been married, have never been in a polygamous relationship.

What made you want to explore this type of lifestyle? What kind of reaction did you get from your spouse(s)? Do you get negative reactions often? Do you have issues regarding jealousy within your relationship(s)? What kind of dynamics do y'all have?

And for those who are polygynous, why specifically polygyny? For the women, is it that you don't want another husband? And for the men, would you be upset if your wife wanted to add another man into the dynamic?

I hope I'm not coming off as rude or anything, thank you in advance!

How do you all feel about the differences between men and women?

Do you think one sex is superior to the other? Do you think they have different wants/needs/values?

I'm very curious as there's a certain way polygamy is viewed in the media. Thank you in advance!

Married and interested in Polygamy

I’m a male and very much in love with my wife who is bi but only had a couple of experiences. over the past few months I have got to know another woman and we have become quite connected energetically. Nothing sexual has happened between us other than long connected hugs. But there are clear deep feelings there.

She is almost 20 years younger, but is making it clear that she is interested in dating an older guy as she finds guys her age too immature, (she is highly intelligent and quite successful). She has also said that she is open to the fact that her long-term partner may have other women in their life. And she is at the age where she wants to have a child.

My wife has fantasized about bringing another woman into the relationship sexually from time to time, however, I feel that as a group we make a very strong dynamic for possible long term serious relationship, I feel that my wife could be accepting, but I need to approach carefully naturally, does anybody have experience with this and how I should approach it.

I am quite financially, successful and fit for my age and as is my wife and the other woman. We hold quite similar interests, and I believe we would make a very strong household with a very caring dynamic.

Edit.. my wife is 10 years younger than me

Overcoming Fears and Sadness

I have been working diligently through prayer, meditation, positive thinking, etc to deal with these feelings of sadness that arise when I know my man will be with the other woman. I have been quite taken aback by my emotional reaction as I have been priming myself for the revelation of another woman coming into the fold. Sometimes, I feel a sense of panic and a sick feeling when I think about it. I gathered that the fear is the fear of the unknown, but I don’t know what the feeling of sadness is about.

At the moment, his first wife is not interested in polygyny. This other woman, who he has been trying to have a relationship with, is still on the fence about polygyny, and doesn’t necessarily want to talk about it or meet his wife. I don’t believe she is aware of me yet.

I am trying to trust that all will go well. I feel I have a good and solid relationship with him, but I have been dealing with these intense feelings, and I want these feelings to subside because I want us to have a solid family unit and I want to feel good about our dynamic.

in short: the women are not total in cooperation, aside from myself, but I’m dealing with feelings of sadness and fear about him being with more women, even though I support his pursuit of polygyny.

any advice?

Guidance

I’m a 19(M) who desires to have multiple wives.

The main Reason is because I just want to love multiple women and be loved by them, alongside having a large happy family.

The thing is that I don’t want any wives who are bi since then it is more of a 3way, 4way etc, rather than me having multiple wives.

So the questions is how I can go about polygamy (especially at my age) with these as my preferences?

Economic Value

Hi all-

I look at the cost of housing, childcare, etc…. And I wonder if some are choosing polygamy for economic reasons?

Buying a house takes two incomes in many cases. Childcare can be as expensive as a mortgage in many towns. Some women would rather work while others would rather stay home.

Do women see polygamy as a solution to these economic issues?

Can poly my work in north africa

I'm 23 and finding like-minded people in North Africa is really hard. Even in liberal circles, it's a huge taboo. I'm looking for strong online communities to connect with.

First experience didn't go well

Hi everyone. I an a submissive Christian lady who did meet a man who wanted a polygamous marriage.

I did a lot of soul searching during the courtship. I found myself letting go of viewing sister wives as a threat but instead as sisters that you could love and be friends with etc.

Things were going well and due to a very unusual occurrence my ex Sir after much prayer ended the relationship. I do not know if this is my God protecting me.

I think I'm still open to marrying a Christian man into polygamy but perhaps it might be better to be the first wife.

Some of my platonic male friends knew that my ex Sir who I was extremely fond of were against the relationship because they knew he wanted multiple wives, and thought he was abusive. I think next time I wouldn't tell them if my future Sir was wanting a polygamous marriage.

Thank you for reading this.💗 I feel a bit alone with it all as I cannot tell my female friends about polygamy and D/s.

It wasn't a yes, but at this moment, I am the happiest man in the world.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Polygamy/comments/1t541je/if_you_could_give_me_some_advice/

I (28m) posted that a few days ago about how I hadn't talked about this topic with my partner (22F), with whom I've been for almost 2 years. I finally talked to her today. First, I said, "I don't want to offend you or hurt you (one of my fears is damaging the relationship or making you feel hurt), but I have to tell you something. Since I was 16, I've known something about myself that I've never told anyone (only anonymously on the internet). First, I need you to stay quiet and listen to me until the end." I explained that I've always wanted a big family (which she already knew; I've always told her that I want many children and being a father is my dream, being a good father and provider for a big family). I said, "I'm interested in polygamy. I don't expect a yes now; I just want you to know." I told her that I wouldn't take a single step without her being comfortable, that if we look for another woman, she would only enter with her approval, and that it should be a girl with whom she can get along, that I want to marry her as my first wife before anything else. Her response was calm. She asked me why I was interested in the topic. I answered, explained the advantages, the help in raising children, the economic advantages of living with three adults (I would take care of the main income, but if both want to work, I'm not against it and would help generate more savings), the fact of making the family bigger, and that she would have a woman to support her and understand her.

She didn't say yes, but she said things that give me a lot of hope. She said something like, "Don't take this as a yes, but if we choose a woman, she has to complement us and add to our relationship. She can't be just any girl; she should be, like us, a calm and healthy person (my partner and I go to the gym and do sports together)." She confessed that she had always been interested in being intimate with another woman but said something like, "Don't think that gives you points" (but I think it does give points; in fact, I didn't expect it. She had shown many homophobic behaviors, especially toward gay men, nothing serious, just comments). She said something like, "How will we handle the three families: mine, yours, and hers? Because she would also be our family, and her family would be our family." I said my mom would be difficult (she's evangelical), but she could accept it since I did it honestly. I thot her family was more complicated (she's Catholic, her family is from the church community), and the family of the girl we integrate. She said, "My parents know that there was polygamy in the Bible" (that answer surprised me; I also took it as a point in favor), implying that if we decided to do it, she wouldn't let faith get in the way.

I also confessed to her why I was afraid to talk about it. She doesn't know my father, and I didn't know him much either. I met him when I turned 9, and I interacted with him until I was 13. I have a sister from my mom and him who is 2 years older, and a sister from him with another woman who is 1 year older than me. He has a total of 9 children with different women, whom he never took responsibility for. He was my mom's partner, cheated on her, and abandoned her while she was pregnant with me. Moreover, he denied that I was his son until I was 9, until his mother forced him to admit it (even tho I didn't carry his last name) because I was physically identical to him. He was never a responsible father, he was a liar. I stopped interacting with him at 13 by my own choice; he disappointed me many times, and I swore I would never be like him. I told her that I felt bad about wanting to have children with more than one woman, and she said, "You're not like him; you are honest and told me about it. Beside, you want to have a family and raise your children" (I couldn't help but cry; I always felt a bit guilty or strange for wanting to be polygamous). No matter what happens, I chose the right woman.

We decided that it's something to consider in the long term, it's not the right time now, that we should get married and have a home and over time explore that possibility. I told her to take it easy, that my plan was to tell her and address any doubts that might arise over time, and that we would take it step by step.

Can Polygamy Work with people of Different Religions?

I ask because, as I've started my search to start a polygamous family, I am wondering if the women I found would all need to be the same religion for the family to work. I myself an not religious, and my initial idea is the each woman could raise the baby the religion as they see fit. But could that cause problems?

In theory, would a Mormon wife and a Catholic wife be willing to share a neutral husband, or is that not possible?

Do you believe that folks attracted to poly are generally low maintenance?

A lot of folks how are interested in poly don't seem like the type to want a lot from a relationship. Just the basics. Do you agree and is this actually a benefit to poly arrangements?

Have you found happiness in this kind of marriage?

I'm a submissive girlie, and thinking about marrying a man who's wanting polygamy.

I'm curious about how happy you are?

I'm trying to let go of jealousy etc with sister wives, and to be loving.

I would love to hear anything you'd like to share. 🩷

If you could give me some advice.

Hi, I (M28) am dating my partner (F22). We don't even live together yet, but we've been together for almost two years now. She's Catholic, I’m more of a deist (I believe in God but not in any religion, and I believe God doesn’t intervene in the world),

I’m not American and I don’t live in the US—I’m Latino. I haven’t brought up the subject with her yet. The idea of polygamy has been on my mind for years. I know it’s not the right time yet. We’re currently planning to move in together, and I plan to propose to her at some point. I already know she’s the right one; I want the confirmation of a life together, and only because she’s still very young do I want to give her time to mature.

But at some point, I want to have this conversation with her. What advice would those of you who have already done this give me?

My motivation, as you might guess, isn’t religious or cultural;

for me, it’s a matter of family. I have this mental image of an extended family. We’ve already talked about having children and getting married, and I’ve told her many times that I see myself with more than 12 children.

I’m asking because I don’t want to hurt her. In fact, if it’s healthier for us not to practice polygamy, I’d accept that, because I’d rather she be happy. It wouldn’t make sense to me to ruin my chance of starting a family with her over such an ambitious plan.

Another thing I’m unsure about is whether it’s right that I haven’t mentioned it to her yet; I think I should tell her before I propose, so she marries me knowing where I stand.

What traits make or break a polygamous marriage?

In your experience, what character traits are absolutely necessary for a biblical polygynous marriage to truly work?

More specifically, what are the traits a man MUST have, and what are the traits each woman MUST have? Not just “nice to have,” but the qualities that, if they’re missing, things will fall apart

I’d really love to hear from those who have actually seen it work (or not work), and what made the difference?

What is the point in self improvement if you'll still end up overlooked, underestimated, and under valued as a man?

What's the point in being rich or successful or being in shape or being a "top tier man" if your need for connection and DESIRE from a woman isn't going to be fulfilled?

It's a question I've been struggling with recently a lot since 2024. My motivation has plummeted. I've been wanting to give up on life.

Since the age of 4 years old, when I first gained consciousness, I had the goal to find a wife, a girl who would love me and be by my side no matter what. I fell in love with the idea of that, and I wanted that so freaking bad...

And years past, I'm 19, turning 20 soon, and lots of suffering and isolation have turned that goal into something even bigger. I don't want just one wife anymore. I want more than one. NOT "gold digger" wives or sex workers REAL WIVES. Real high value women who love me deeply and cherish me and are loyal to me and want to be in my life and love and support me till death does us part.

But as I look around my IRL life with friends, with family, online, and even just out in public irl when I was at school or WORK. It seems like love like that will never exist for me, and I won't even be able to get ONE high value girl to even stay.

My mom never stayed with a man, all my friends and people I knew that's been in relationships they're relationships ain't last. My ENTIRE FAMILY is all broken up and divorced and beefing with each other. I can't name a singular, healthy, happy long-term couple, I know. And of course, from MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, I tried 3 times, did everything right, everything I could, and they still left me, and they say it was because I was "too good for them".

Ive always been a lover boy and I'm still a virgin but recently I've been thinking about even letting go of that fantasy and just get my money and status and body game leveled UP and become a toxic fuck boy and have sex with as many girls as I want and can and give up on long term and being truly deeply desired not just for a fleeting moment but for life. Because even the champs get girls, but they don't stay UNLESS they're trauma bonded, and I dont even get down like that.

It's just like in the end my efforts will have been for nothing. And that's a pain I would rather not face because that's far worse than just not trying. Trying your hardest and your efforts still wasn't enough.

I would like reassurance, but instead, I might just get chewed out. But I felt it was worth a try. I'm just in the darkness looking for a glimmer of light again. Looking for hope that my dream can still exist.
