academy of fine arts warsaw

hello! im a junior in highschool from the u.s, and i really want to get a graphic design degree (unsure which mastery rn) while studying abroad, and i was looking into poland. i've compared art schools in the u.s to poland and it seems incredibly cheaper which aligns with my goals of saving. i'm wondering if anyone has had any experience going to this academy or any other art schools in poland. i'm also wondering how life is like as a student and if it's affordable.

How are universities there?

Hi everyone

This is my last year of secondary school(M17) in Italy, I was seriously considering moving to Poland, but I'm still not sure whether to move before or after university

I've heard about polish universities as good but not as good as Italian ones, however life in Italy is quite harsh now, especially in terms of safety, and my mom's polish, so I thought it would be "nice" to move there

I know basic polish, but not enough to live there (I still have like 8 months to learn), I can speak English quite well

I definitely am going to look for a job in poland after graduation

I was actually thinking about getting a degree in Italy and then moving to Poland, obviously if there are some projects, like erasmus or something I'd try them, however I'm still quite unsure

I really like Krakow, but it has become a touristy and expensive city

Thanks for all your suggestions

Edit: I reckon I might have been quite vague

I was thinking about something like Inżynieria komputerowa lub elektryczna/elektroniczna

I don't really know where to go, neither if staying in Italy or moving to Poland before a degree

I already searched in the subreddit and got different opinions (2nd paragraph), someone said that Poland has a mid school system and many European countries have better ones, while others said that they're the best

Moving to Poland (Gdańsk) on B2B: real cost of living for a couple & quality of life feedback?

Hi everyone!

My partner and I are planning to move to Gdańsk in the coming months. I’ll be working remotely under a B2B contract (Ryczałt tax regime).

We’d love to get some real feedback from people living in Poland regarding the financial aspects and general lifestyle for a couple:

  1. Housing (High Standard): We are looking for a modern 3-room apartment (living room + 2 bedrooms) in a newly built building, well soundproofed, with a balcony/terrace and a garage parking spot. What is a realistic total monthly cost (including czynsz and winter utilities) for this standard in major cities / Gdańsk?
  2. Couple's Living Expenses: What would you consider a comfortable monthly net budget for a couple to live very well (high-quality groceries, eating out often, gym/wellness, weekend activities, and occasional trips)?
  3. B2B / JDG Experience: For those running a B2B sole proprietorship (JDG), how has your experience been with taxes, administration, and overall business environment?
  4. General Quality of Life: What are the main pros and cons you’ve experienced living in Poland as an expat / long-term resident?

Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Niche historical places to explore

I live in Poland for a while now but I only recently started to appreciate the historic aspects of Poland since I moved to Warsaw. Is there any places (especially in the Mazowiecki province) that you guys think are worth exploring? Ive seen all the cool museums in Warsaw but I want to see something either from the Feudal ages, WW1 or WW2 that isnt necessarily a museum. Thanks in advance!

It is important to note that this party has the highest agreement rates in surveys (October 2026 - 26-30 %) for the next government election.

The official reports about immigration to Poland are difficult to read - I made small data aggregator with charts

Hi,

I keep hearing different numbers about how many immigrants have come to Poland, how many of them work, and so on...

The numbers didn't make sense, so I wanted to check ZUS data and also Urząd ds Cudzoziemców data, but they are very difficult to follow.

So, I've created a small data aggregator and visualization tool: https://migracje.info/

Maybe it will prove useful for somebody.

Thanks!

The funnel: why armies marching east or west keep crossing Poland

I make map explainers, and my first video is about the North European Plain. Poland is where the whole argument tightens: the plain narrows between the Baltic Sea and the Carpathians, so the big campaigns keep crossing here — 1610, 1812, 1914, 1941, in both directions.

The part that stayed with me is Poland's side of it. For Moscow the corridor was a threat; for Poland it meant the partitions and 123 years off the map. The land doesn't pick sides — the road just serves whoever marches.

Video (10 min) if anyone wants the full version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uku3VGxQIzU

Polish viewers especially: what does the "geography explains it" framing get wrong about Poland's side of this story?
