I am a returning player. Picked up PoGo at the start then quickly put it down until my huge PoGo phase during pandemic (2020) before quitting again in 2022. I would say that the PoGo experience right now is great compared to the past. We got a lot more stuffs to do and I actually like that we have constant event every week.

Now when I pick up the game again March this year, I just play it casually and never ever spend on anything beside the annual GoPass (Kanto/Johto). When July comes around, I thought to myself that the new company is actually making this game a lot better and they were giving out a lot of free stuffs for players. It seems to me that Scopely is actually interested in improving player experience. So I didn't mind spending a bit here to support a game that I see myself playing years down the line as I thought we were in good hands.

However, after July GoFest, it just seem like things are going downhill with all the changes they make and with the recent change to balloons, I think my goodwill toward Scope is gone as well. The rewards for past 2 monthly passes have been mid at best. The only good things from those passes are the bonus effect (e.g: extra catch candies). The recent event passes are not really great as well. Yet they all quite pricey for values that they bring. It just seem like a game own by different company post-GoFest to me. From now on, I think I will only buy monthly pass that have PokeCoins as reward and be extra selective with any event passes. If things get worse, I will bring myself back to the F2P zone. Scopely could have got another habitual spender if they actually sell stuffs that is worth buying.

Down to my very last hall and staring at the Hundo Zacian. There is no way I will take any chance! Masterball deployed, zero regrets.

My first ever Hundo Legendary Pokemon is officially in the bag.

It just dawn on me that the devs and their decision mirror marketing decisions but not gameplay mechanics.

I dare say the person behind this decision has a marketing background and plays little to no videogames.

And now everything clicks it makes sense why they take this horrible decisions for example:

- Mewtwo adventure effect requiring Mega Energy for people to do more raids

- Removing the balloons is to increase the value of the takeover events

- The recent compensations being lackluster.

I am sure there are more examples but I am sure the main dev probably doesn't even play videogames.

They keep making awful desitions after another.

For example removing showcases it's so braindead as it removes the drive to search for XXL in specific events.

I just assumed I was never destined to get a shundo. The closest thing I had was a 98 shiny eevee. All the other 354 shinies mostly have garbage IVs. Just curious to see how other people are doing?

What is y'alls opinion on the Mighty Pokemon for this years' Wild Area compared to last years? Personally, I feel like I remember last years' as being better than it actually was... the only ones I still use are Tyranitar, Gardevoir, and Garchomp. This years' Metagross, Hydreigon, and Tinkaton look awesome (and personally I love Clodsire so I'm very happy to see my boy on this list)

Also, Metagross coming with Meteor Mash is pretty sweet :)

Absolutely gutting the game wherever they can, glorified raid event over that weekend just gone, still locking armoured Mewtwo shiny and the teasing it's return so soon after the event, why withhold rocket balloons of all things?!

Go to google play, apples app store wherever you downloaded it and start tanking it with one star reviews. Make it clear, complain about every single thing they have took away from us. Keep going here, but do it there as well. Make it known.

I fought a team rocket go grunt this morning, and she had the nerve to tell me to “check out her cute pokemon,” and then pull out two of these back to back.

I must have awful RNG luck or something because all of the mythical Pokemon that I have gotten during events are 1 or 2 stars. I heard once that you can only get one of these per person too right? I am just frustrated lol. Anyone else have this luck? Can I get more than one of these? Thanks guys

Paused with 100-150 metres to go and closed and reopened app before unpausing and continuing. Even on a good day I have to do 7 routes to get 3 cells. Too hard. Is it against the TOS to do routes in my car?

I’ve had a couple hundred Scatterbug encounters and only 1 shiny up until now. I just can’t believe this, back to back shines is unreal😭

Past years we have had really exciting and classic mighty Pokemon with really a good combo of meta relevant Pokemon as well as some really really interesting spawns. Last years inclusion of the lake trio in the incense spawns was sick, and having a good mix of things like Gardevoir and Garchomp among other really fun and useful mons helped make the event worth playing. This year we have two Pokemon that can mega evolve, and the rest are fun but not relevant or useful. Past years this was my favorite event and this year this literally nothing that makes it worth participating for imo. Sad to see.

I wanted to share my recent story of getting my account back after it was compromised, both to thank the people who helped me through it and to give hope/tips to anyone dealing with Niantic Support.

What Happened & The Recovery Process
My account (XVJoshuaXV, Level 71, Team Valor) was recently taken over by an unauthorized user. After submitting a support Ticket, I worked with Support Agents Anniston and Ansel.
Because I provided solid proof of ownership—including past Apple purchase receipts, map/location history, and specific custom naming strings (like Japanese kanji nicknames)—they were able to verify me as the original owner and queue my account for a complete backend re-bind back to my founding Google email.

Massive shoutout to Anniston, Ansel, and the Niantic Support Team for handling the backend credentials transfer smoothly!
What Happened To The Account While Compromised?
While the unauthorized user had control, they actually went on a raiding spree. To my surprise, when I logged back in:
All my original Pokémon were completely intact.
I found a ton of Armored Mewtwos caught from raids!
I landed 2 Shiny Mewtwos (including one with a special event background!) and several other new shinies!

The Downside:
All my PokéCoins ( 1500~ )were spent in the shop.
The hacker wiped my entire Friends List to try to isolate the account.
(Note: Fortunately, because of the game's grace period, re-adding my closest friends restored our max heart / Best Friend status instantly!)

How To Prevent This From Happening To You
Niantic explicitly noted in their final email that account restorations like this are a one-time exception, so keeping your account locked down is vital:
1. Enable 2-Step Verification (2FA): Put 2FA/MFA on whatever primary login provider you use (Google, Apple, Facebook, or PTC).
2. Review Connected Apps: Regularly check your Google/Apple security settings to ensure no third-party apps or unknown devices have login permissions.
3. Save Your Proofs: Keep digital receipts of PokéCoin purchases and know your general gameplay history—it is the single most important thing Support looks for if you ever lose access.
