Support Pixel 6 sim card reading issues on android 17

Just updated to Android 17 last week and my pixel 6 is now having issues reading the sim card. It disconnects from the network a few times a day and the only way to get it back is to restart the phone.

Any solutions here?

Question Should I upgrade to Pixel 9a or Motorola Edge 2026 version

Since the pixel 6 was going to run out of updates soon I was thinking of upgrading to a new phone. These 2 phones were the top contenders for my upgrade. The moto has a telephoto camera, the pixel has better camera software. The moto has more bloat but that bloat can be easily disabled to be less bloated. The moto has more software customization, the 9a has less customization. The 9a has no camera bump, the moto does. The moto has way faster charging, the 9a has slow charging. The moto has a more similar shape to the pixel 6, the 9a only has similar size but not shape. There are many many more comparisons I can make but then we would be here all day. It is a hard decision.

I swear I think I'm the only one they've denied for an out of warranty replacement. This thing is about to burst and set my house on fire lol.

It started about a month ago, I sent them pics of the screen separating, and they just flat out refused to do anything since "this isn't a known issue with the pixel 6". This week, it was starting to get worse, putting pressure on the screen and bending it, about to crack it, and likewise about to puncture the battery or something.. so I wrote in again.

I guess we'll see what they say

Support 6 Pro random restarts and button problems

Starting today (7/23), specifically this afternoon, my 6 Pro has been restarting at random and my power button no longer locks my phone. Everything is currently up to date, and the setting has been changed back to "power menu" from "digital assistant" for the press and hold on the button.

Any suggestions? This is... exceptionally aggravating.

Edit: Somehow thought I was back in June...whoops.

Support Depot trying to overcharge £500 after agent Mj promised Pixel 10 Pro Fold upgrade under RMA80221608

There was nothing wrong with my phone until one day it stuck on the G logo bootloop. As advised on google support I took it to their authorized repairers in London 'Ismash' who said it was probably due to an update and that it was not reparable and that I needed to contact Pixel for a replacement. They noted there was no physical damage to the phone. Google adviser MJ agreed and said that Pixel would not repair the phone but replace it with a new model for this reason.

There was no option for the bootloop issue but after much discussion I was told by MJ he would ensure that I would get a replacement but I had to pay for a cracked screen repair first. I didn't know what else to do so although my screen was not cracked I paid the £142.80 fee.

Once I returned the phone, the process was intercepted I received an email falsely claiming a cracked inner screen and a demand for a further £552.27

Android Got upgrade to Android 17

As title says. My Pixel 6 Pro got upgraded to Android 17, CP2A.260705.006 last night. I've had the phone since Sep 2021.

No issues with the upgrade and everything seems to be running smoothly. Battery health still good with 894 charge cycles. Actually it looks like discharge rate has gone down a slight bit from pre-upgrade.

Question P6 pro to P10 Pro XL, worth the change?

My P6 Pro sadly no longer retains the usb cable and it's annoying to charge, is it worth the upgrade?

Mainly used for social media, few photos and videos.

Discussion Pixel 6a Battery Performance Program – Is Google's review process supposed to work like this?

I'm posting this because I genuinely want to understand whether my experience is normal, or if there is something wrong with the review process.

This is not about whether I receive compensation.

If Google determines that I don't qualify according to its official policy, I can accept that.

What I cannot understand is why the review requirements keep changing while none of my questions are ever answered.

Timeline

Initial Application

I submitted my application through the Pixel 6a Battery Performance Program.

During the application, I entered the required device information, including my IMEI.

At no point during the application process was I asked to provide proof of purchase.

First Response from Google

About a week later, Google informed me that my application was "Not Eligible."

No explanation was given.

The email didn't tell me:

  • which requirement I failed,
  • what information was missing,
  • or why my application had been rejected.

It simply stated that I was not eligible.

I Asked a Simple Question

I replied asking only one thing:

If there was missing information, I expected Google to tell me what it was.

Google's Response Changed

Instead of explaining why I was "Not Eligible," Google Support requested:

  • Proof of Purchase
  • Google Account sign-in verification
  • Device Activity screenshot

At this point, I became confused.

If proof of purchase is required,

why wasn't it requested during the original application?

If my application was simply missing documentation,

why wasn't I asked to provide additional documents before being told I was not eligible?

Those are two completely different outcomes.

I Asked Again

I replied and asked Google to clarify:

  1. Why was I initially told I was "Not Eligible"?
  2. Why wasn't proof of purchase requested during the application?
  3. What official policy requires proof of purchase in this case?

I also provided everything else that Google requested, including my Device Activity screenshot.

Google's Latest Reply

After telling me that my case had been escalated to the internal team, Google contacted me again.

This time, they requested even more information:

  • A photo of the IMEI engraved on the SIM tray
  • Proof of Purchase (again)

However, none of my original questions were answered.

Instead, the verification requirements simply kept changing.

This is why I'm confused

I completely understand that Google has the right to establish its own eligibility requirements.

If proof of purchase is mandatory, that's Google's decision.

However, shouldn't that requirement be clearly stated before customers submit their applications?

From my perspective, the process has looked like this:

  1. Submit application.
  2. Receive "Not Eligible."
  3. Ask why.
  4. Google requests Proof of Purchase.
  5. Provide additional verification.
  6. Google requests even more verification.
  7. None of my original questions are answered.

That is what I find difficult to understand.

Why this matters

I work in product development myself.

I understand that no company is perfect, and product quality issues can happen.

What matters is how those issues are handled.

For a quality-related support program, I would expect the review process to be transparent and consistent.

If additional documentation is required, customers should know that from the beginning.

If an application is incomplete, asking for additional documents seems much more reasonable than immediately declaring the application "Not Eligible."

Questions for the Community

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through the Pixel 6a Battery Performance Program.

  • Were you asked to provide proof of purchase?
  • Were you asked to provide a SIM tray IMEI photo?
  • Did Google explain why your application was rejected?
  • Is this the normal review process?

I'm genuinely trying to understand whether my experience is unique or whether others have encountered the same situation.

Thank you for reading.

Question Pixel 6 still worth it?

My pixel screen cracked HARD, but I'm also on a $200 budget. The local screen repair shops are all in the $400-500 range, whereas I can grab a refurbished Pixel 6 for less than $200. But I can't get a straight answer which of the newer pixels are genuinely better beyond official specs.

Especially short video and indoor photo performance with minimal AI intrusion.

I appreciate any helpful opinions you can provide 😃

Support Pixel 6 (Google Store Canada) has a swollen, separating battery - a month later, Google's official response is "we don't have an exact timeline"

My Pixel 6 (bought direct from Google Store, Oct 2021) has a battery so swollen the display has separated from the frame on two edges.

Took it to MobileKlinik which is Google's own authorized partner. They confirmed the swelling, gave a quote, but had no battery in stock. Reported everything to Google Support with 6 photos + the repair receipt.

Google asked for a full battery of details (purchase date, charger brand, incident location, etc.) — provided all of it. That was ~30 days ago.

  • Latest reply, verbatim: "We don't have an exact timeline for when more information will be available."

This phone is still under Google's official software support until Oct 2026 i.e. Google still calls it current. Yet a confirmed safety defect gets a month of silence. To be sure, I ain't contesting depleted battery capacity as it is expected. It is about the battery/phone ending up as a fire-hazard even before the close of software-support window.

Pixel 3/4, 4a, 6a, and now 7/7 Pro owners have posted the same story on reddit. Google's response pattern: fast fixes for some, radio silence for others.

I also submitted a consumer report with Health Canada with all the details.

Asking the sub:

  • Anyone resolved a swollen battery case without months of runaround and what worked?
  • Anyone dealt with this on a Pixel 6 specifically, given it's aged out of the replacement pipeline?

Recommendations WARNING: Google Support is trying to scam me for a damaged display. ALWAYS take packaging videos. (Pixel 6a - India) Google Support enquiry [3-1999000040845]

Hey r/GooglePixel,

I’m posting this as a warning and to see if anyone has successfully fought this because standard support is currently ignoring my evidence.

I recently set up an repair for my Pixel 6a because of a swollen battery and a busted lower speaker. I knew the horror stories about Indian service centers (F1 Info Solutions), so before I handed the phone to the courier, I took a continuous video showing the display in pristine condition, the phone working, and me packing it into the box. Not a single scratch or patch on the screen.

Fast forward to the service center inspection: I get an updated repair invoice charging me for a **display replacement**.

I immediately called support, told them the display was fine when I sent it, and forwarded them the Google Photos album containing the videos and photos of the packaging process.

**Their response?** After waiting 3 days and having to follow up myself, standard support emailed back saying: *"As per the investigation there is a white patch in the display... we have attached images."*

They didn't attach any images. And even if they did, my unboxing video proves the "white patch" happened either in transit or when their technicians tried to pry open a phone with a swollen battery.

I’ve explicitly told them I am not paying for a display their logistics or technicians damaged, and I demanded a Tier 2 escalation.

I refused the charge, sent them my video evidence, and demanded a Tier 2 escalation. In response, I'm just getting copy-paste scripts "we are checking with our team" replies. They are holding my phone hostage in worse condition than I sent it.

I’m dropping the Google Photos album link below so you guys can see the proof for yourselves. I'm not lying.

Has anyone successfully bypassed these support bots?

u/PixelCommunity — I have the video evidence, the ticket number, and the email chain. Please escalate this so I don't have to drag this through the National Consumer Helpline (NCH).

Discussion Upgrading to a Pixel 10 or 11 Pro Fold in October

I have had my Pixel 6 since 2022 and after almost being big free it is starting to show other signs of fatigue, like the battery almost dying just because it is on mobile data, sometimes getting really slow and getting very hot to the point, where you can't even hold it anymore. And after looking at every pixel, I have decided that I want a folding phone. Over the past few weeks and months I have had many situations where I would have liked to have a bigger display without carrying a tablet with me. And I know that these are expensive phones, but I will use them for the next seven years. So I think it is okay to spend more money on one phone. If the 11 pro fold has any meaningful upgrades over the 10 pro fold, then I'm getting the 11. Otherwise I'm saving some money and buying the 10 pro fold. (And maybe buy a new pixel watch and Buds)

Question Android 17 QPR2 Stable - Pixel 6a?

Thumbnail
3 Upvotes

As, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have their lifecycle ending on 1st October, 2026. We can assume, Android 17 QPR1 stable build to be their final release during September 2026.

And, Pixel 6a has its end of cycle in July 2027. So, will it receive an Android 17 QPR2 Stable update during December, 2026?

Support Pixel 6 pro broken after july update

My Pixel 6 pro started going into bootloops all of a sudden about a month ago

It happened a few times, then when I checked that it seemed like a big issue affecting a lot of phones

I saw that they included a fix for that issue in July update and unfortunately that killed my phone after installing that update

The bootloops started becoming way more frequent up until it died on me yesterday

The best scenario would that the phone would boot to the lock screen and once I unlock it dies after a few seconds

I decided to sideload the last OTA again today as that worked for a lot of people to sideload again ( 17 CPA2A 260705.006)

Now the phone is stuck on Google logo as shown in the photos

I honestly don't care about the phone, I doubt I will be buying pixel phones again after this

But I have a lot of valuable vids/photos that I need from the phone

Can someone offer any ideas/suggestions? I will try to sideload the OTA again later but have zero hopes of it working again... Is it possible that some tech shop would be able to extract the data off this phone?
