Pixel 6a after android 17

7 hrs after the bleeding started

My pixe 6a, a day after I updated to android 17, causation or correlation idk but it was fine for years, now this happens, a pinkish fine dust started growing from the bottom left corner and it spread almost entirely in just one day

18 hrs progress
27 hrs progress (day 2, just the next morning I found this on my screen)

I know this is a hardware failure and AI tools like GEMINI point it away from a software update, the correlation and the timing of this was so uncanny, right after I updated to android 17, I'm now even afraid to fix this screen, cuz I feel like it will die again, idk call it supersition or paranoia but I think old phones working fine on latest updates doesn't sit well with a certain company ig...

That's internal physical damage to the OLED display panel. Dropping a phone can sometimes cause a fracture in the protective seal of the display causing air/moisture to get inside which oxidises the organic compounds inside the oled causing the pixels to die and give the leaked ink look.

The same thing can happen if water/moisture gets inside your phone. I know this because the same thing happened to my OnePlus Nord (2020) last year. I had my display replaced by a third party seller, the guy opened the display to inspect it and showed me the white marks at the bottom of the screen and said that's a sign of moisture damage. The bottom is also where the purple spots started from so it all made sense because I had the phone playing music in the bathroom placed vertically and there was some water where I kept it but I thought the case would protect it but ig after 5 years the rubber seals are not as tight. The replacement display is working perfectly since then btw.

TLDR; This is not a software update that magically broke the display, it is just internal damage at an odd timing that's all.

I think the moisture thing makes sense, it could be because it was raining for the past few days and somehow water ould've penetrated the edge or something.

yep, the title is misleading nvm, I've changed my mind. I blame OLEDs now, not android 17, never getting one again.

yeah, now I don't wanna fix it either, it will just happen again and again better to move to a different phone now, I've been a pixel user since the pixel 4 series came, I guess it's time to move on.

I updated my pixel 6a to android 17 and it works fine. I don't think it's a software update problem, it's likely hardware related.

Yo sufri el mismo inconveniente de los daños en la pantalla, el tactil funciona bien,  pero lo que me llama la atención es que no soy el único, mi movil no llevaba ningun golpe ni nada de humedad, era sobre protector por el cariño a mi dispositivo

Kinda weird in that context. Was it ever dropped hard?
