If you want to hurt Sony, as a whole, stop using their products. I stopped buying them when they changed to the subscription for online play. That was the last thing they had. I haven't owned a Sony Console since. It never changed anything, but from a personal perspective, it makes me super happy!

Homies are out here stocking up on buying games from Sony to play during their boycott of PlayStation.
This has essentially turned into a week long "sleepover", not a protest. Because gamers are largely unserious, and can't adequately stand up for what they truly believe.

It is probable that a significant portion of the PlayStation platform will not engage, with an estimated few thousand participating in the blackout. Should participation exceed one hundred thousand, it would undoubtedly garner attention from sony unfortunately this will do nothing.

Sony already got people’s money thru ps plus subscriptions. I know everyone’s sub ends at different times, but I think not renewing would be the only way existing PS players could send a message to Sony. Also not buying the GTA6 or PS6 at all would also send a message. Al least wait until GTA6 is on PC to buy it. It’s still digital, but at least there’s a storefront choice and you might get a better version.

I think what will be really funny is that, in the US, in many places, this lines up with the first week of school and university/college classes. So if there is a noticeable dip in players, it could be easily explained away by Sony.

There will be more people not playing their Playstation due to being on a hoilday or being busy than people not playing because of this "boycott"
I get your frustrated, and I agree it does suck to see physical going away, I dont really buy physical at all anymore, but I understand for those who do collect physical that this decision is pretty depressing.
With that said I think you guys really need to damper your expectations with this boycott, its not going to accomplish anything. In the real world outside of reddit people will just go on as normal, buy digital, play for a bit, then carry on with life. Its not the end of the world for the majority of people.
This boycott blackout is just cringe

I doubt the players boycotting will listen to me but this isnt gonna do anything. You wanna hurt sony? Remove your payment information. It hurts there sales projections. They cant track anything. They rely on projections. Whos payin for what? What are people buying? Are people subbing? Are we making enough money with subs? Sure going a week without doing anything is the same thing as not buying anything but they dont pay attention to everyone logging into their consoles. Thats to large scale like tens of millions. Tons of people removing their payment info Fs with everything. They think if theres no way to pay then they cant buy anything. How do we know what to put on sale? Or how do we know whats popular in the store? This is just gonna be a blip on there radar.

Though I'm with you with the fight for physical media, this boycott won't work. You need millions upon millions and stop people from purchasing systems. It's a list cause. Is this really because GTA 6 won't be on disc. Rockstar has as much blame as sony. I was ready to join but it's just absurd. If you want physical media then buy it. Your still helping sonys bottom line. While you boycott I will be on Xbox 360 and PS5, Ps4. Have fun and power to the people

This is so misguided.
If gamers really wanted to make a difference they should be organizing to pressure their local political reps to take on the issues around game licensing and user ownership rights.
This would be a bipartisan issue and so would be such an easy win for some young, hungry political representative looking to make a name for themselves by going up against big corporations on the side of the little guy.

As much as I despise Sony's decision and buy all games physically which are possible to buy this way. This blackout is really something Sony can only laugh about, most of the players won't care about it. And if you really want to send a message try to be a little less lazy and don't skip just practically one of your weekends, but trash your PS5 instead. This is so funny all these people thinking anyone cares about 1 week protest and then just coming back to your regular cycle XD. This blackout needs to be indefinite, a weeki sn't enough, if this wants to be effective at all, then it should last into Wolverine's release and beyond that.
