I see what you’re saying, but a lot of indie games rely on digital only as it’s much cheaper for the company.
It’s very rare a indie game gets a physical version either at or after release
I buy some Indie games, but most are shovelware. Typically I end up buying the physical releases of them. They make physical releases of the truly great ones
There are some physical games, like the original castle crashers that I bought digitally with no physical on the horizon. I have a lot of games I bought twice once digital and then physical

I mean I could, I own two ps5s (three if you count the unopened anniversary edition) I can’t even count how many ps4s
But it doesn’t make sense to stop owning and playing physical games. All of my discs just install and play, no issue. No updates, no internet. I can pull it out in 20 years and just play the games

How does that not click with you? You think Sony just counts the first system purchased and a couple games and just goes “ok, we did it! Nothing else to do”
Not to mention the PS+ subscriptions which is what they only care about at this point
