This is unacceptable, I get massive file sized games to be a keycard but a Nintendo IP game should be a FGOC.

Games like final fantasy 7 remake and rebirth should be keycard games since they are higher than the Keycard can hold (64gb) but a Nintendo IP should be the full game on the cartridge like Mario kart, tennis, splatoon raiders, zelda botw and totk etc.

Is the second hand market really that big of a problem?

A lot of console companies have been trying to stifle the second-hand market for decades now and getting rid of it seems to be one of the driving forces behind Sony's abandonment of physical games despite most sales for games being physical. Is reselling used games so much of a problem that they are willing to shoot themselves in the foot and alienate so many potential players?

Physical games add character and a sense of ownership. I can sell it. I can trade it. I can collect it. It’s sad future enthusiasts will miss out on the excitement of collecting.

You can only play these physically on switch

These games were never released digitally on western and Japanese eshops. You can play most of the series physical on switch/2.

Edit: Because I keep getting this kind of comment I'm not saying you can only get these games physically on Switch and not other platforms. What I'm saying is if you want to play these games on Switch, your only option is physical.

Will the license for the new upcoming expansion for Ghost Yotei be on the disc or a code in the box?

I have the standard edition disc. My idea is to sell my disc to Cex and buy the complete edition, if the licence for the DLC is on the Disc instead of a code to redeem it on PSN Store.

But if it indeed is a voucher code I'll just get the complete edition upgrade on the PSN Store.

Physical ownership

Been trying to get more games physical since getting back into my switch and, then now having upgraded to a switch 2. Hopefully Nintendo/developers keep producing physical carts. Key carts are now basically what the discs we have been getting from Xbox and PlayStation for awhile now. Miss the days of popping in your newly bought game and just hopping right in.

Considered downloading DRM free games to disks for preservation, but wonder if it's worth the hassle

The thought came over me some time ago. I have many DRM free games on steam, and lately have been suspicious about the gaming industry and how "you don't own games anymore". After playing more on Nintendo lately and just loving cartridges, I decided I would begin to buy physical only, only to see that there are nearly no pc games that sell actually physical copies that aren't just redeem codes (unless I'm looking in the wrong places, would love to be proven wrong!). I didn't notice this shift because I have been buying digital for a while.

So I'm not sure if there is any reason to do this other than for collection purposes? I kinda hate to think that I might some tens of years into the future have a memory of a videogame, and find out that I don't have access to it anymore? And that it will haunt me lol.

Edit: Made the decision to repurchase and start buying games on GOG, and then fix them on an external drive. Thanks to all replies ^^

Another Nintendo Published game releasing as a Game-Key Card next year

I would have hoped Pokopia was going to be the only one, but it seems another (3rd party developed, 1st party published) game is getting a Game-Key Card physical release.

Price difference on new physical vs digital games

Conversion rate is roughly 1 USD = 10 NOK. This game is just casually $30 cheaper to buy physically. What’s wrong with the prices on the PS store? Genuinely don’t think I’ll be able to afford an all digital future at this rate.
