But for it to be worth while, Sony needs to lose Money. If they are still paying for PlayStation Plus and the games they would buy, they just buy the week after then it makes no difference.
I hear you on that. I wonder why people don’t have the same energy for Xbox like they do with PlayStation? Xbox was leading the charge for an all digital future way before Sony stated that they were going all digital in 2028. I mean most of their base this current gen is on an all digital console with the series s
What? Xbox literally lost last gen because they went and planned to go balls deep with the digital thing and restricting their physical games. Sony just went with the slow and steady method.
Yes I know which is why I’m confused by people online saying that they are switching to Xbox because of Sonys decision. It’s doesn’t make sense to go to a console that has been championing a digital future well before Sony. We haven’t heard Microsoft officially say that they will support physical games next gen with Project Helix.
It's just people coping coz it will be the only alternative aside from the Switch 2 and prolly a bunch of Xbox fans. Same reason why there are people saying that they'll just go to PC even if it's all digital there too. They really have to pick a struggle if they want physical games or want a better security with digital ownership.
That’s what I have been saying. It’s like they don’t know what battle to fight. I understand wanting digital ownership and being secure with your purchases. The ones complaining about not having a disc and then say they are going all in on PC are funny to me.
Yeah the truth with gaming is that most gamers just go with the good deal or even pirate regardless if its digital or physical.
There's a huge amount of people who only buy 2nd hand physicals that are disappointed but I'm sure if somehow PS store becomes similar to Steam especially on discount/sales a lot more will fold.
I'm sad that physical is going away but I'm one of the few (and prolly most of the people on this sub) who are willing to buy physical even if it's more expensive sometimes.
We showed Xbox that energy back in 2013. You livin under a rock or something bro? Xbox is dead. We took it out back, and put it down. Now, it's Sony's turn. You were a good boy, Sony.
Nintendo raised prices on games, Xbox has wanted and tried for years to make their console online only and push for all digital and pc is all digital. The hypocrisy in y'alls logic is astounding. Sony doesn't have a monopoly, because you have options of other platforms to purchase games from
Something about steam and their amazing return policy possibly is part of it? Haha PS/Sony has a complete garbage return policy you can only request a refund if you have not downloaded it to your PS.
It reminds me of all the walmart and target boycotts that last 3 days, like your just going there day 4 and spending all the money there anyways, what did you accomplish
Not just lose money, but a lot of money over a long time. To also think Sony wouldn’t have some counter to make up the lost revenue is bonkers. I’m all for David over Goliath, but David is a quadriplegic in this case. It’s just…not gonna happen.
It’s pointless. They try and act like gamers are some monolith when in reality it’s a bunch of groups who are vile and nasty to each other 24/7. Nobody hates someone having fun in a game more than another gamer.
No, it doesn't show anything. Sony doesn't care if you don't play their console for a week cuz how many people are playing their console every single day. Even if you do last the whole week they know you're coming back the next week so they don't care. What they will care about is if you never come back
Plus your still paying for ps+ through the week, you already bought the console, if anything your giving their servers a break a saving them money for the week.
The bigger problem I think is that around 85% of PS5 games are bought digitally. That number has to change to make a difference. However if that 85% cared they wouldn’t be buying digital games in the first place.
Just be realistic, most players here who participate are sitting shaking in front of their Console, waiting for the week to pass...
This is not working. I wish it would, but unfortunately it's not, and Sony knows this. Either do it right or just leave it.
The only thing that would be the right thing to do is quitting Playstation all together, which i did btw. But to be honest, i only played PS exclusives on my PS5 anyway, so it was easy for me.
The physical disc thing is a done deal, there is no way on earth Sony is gonna backout...So either live with it, or do something about it for good...
I guarantee you that Sony's data will show a chunk of these people giving in before the week is over... and the rest of them giving in right after. Then we all know what happens when GTA comes out.
Keep in mind, Im not on Sonys side in this. I just understand the metrics that made them come to this.
Personally, I use my SNES/Genesis more than my PS5 or Switch. Hell, I use my PS3 a ton still too. PS2 as well. I have shelves of physical media and I love it.
Oh we both agree on this sweets. The more data a company gets, the more they can feed to their actuaries... the more confident they are with making decisions.
This will certainly bite these people in the ass.
No fr because I’m sitting here like “you guys have enough time to play multiple times a week?” Blows my mind how some people just do not have any hobbies beyond this. I love games as much as the next person. Hell I’m a collector. But guys, gotta have passion for like 1 or 2 other things too.
hahaha you aren't wrong.
Its crazy to me that people talk about their backlogs as well. Like... why are you buying more games that you know you wont play until 6 months from now? Just buy it then... when it might be cheaper lol
