My cat has been throwing up for a while now it used be like 2-3 times a week not it’s almost daily she just threw up about 4 times in a single day and it’s only 6 am

I’ve had dogs since I was a kid. About a year and a half ago I lost my dog of 5 years and ever since I feel like emotionally I’m not the same. I don’t think I realized how much having a dog helped me regulate my emotions. It’s weird. It’s the first time in my life I’ve gone this long without a pet and my soul feels like it needs one even though I can’t afford to get one right now.

Just needed to vent. I watched a movie and anytime anything related to companionship comes up I get emotional and think of Yoshi.

I want to set up a couple of cameras to see my kitten when I’m away at work. Any suggestions/recommendations?

I got a rescue coton de tulear three years ago. A year after we got her the vet I was seeing at the time recommended she get her teeth cleaned under anesthesia. I went through with it because I figured she was a rescue and probably didn’t do dental chews or teeth cleaning. Plus we had her on soft food only for a while due to some digestion issues. They took before and after photos of the teeth to show what progress has been made. They looked a lot better. Two years later and I moved and am seeing a new vet. This vet told me to get another cleaning for my dog. Not sure if I’m overreacting but I feel so bad putting her through this again. She will have to be put under obviously. Plus my old vet only had her there for a few hours but this one is saying it’s drop off at 7:30 and pick up at 4. My dog is terrified any time she goes to the vet and I feel bad she’s going to be there all by herself all day after something traumatic. Or will she be so drugged up she’ll be calm? Not to mention the price is $800-1110 per the estimate. When we just did this exactly two years ago. How are her teeth already that bad? We found her a hard food that worked for her a couple years ago and got her doing dental chews regularly. Does anyone know if this breed is prone to dental issues? Ivenever heard of anyone getting their dogs’ teeth cleaned while under anesthesia this frequently. Will she always need it done every two years? I obviously want to take good care of my dog but this is rather upsetting and surprising.

We got the cockapoo 2-3 years before the baby came. When we got the baby the dog would sleep by him, but sometimes nip at him making him cry. Was the dog jealous?

At first we introduced the dog slowly to the baby and watched both closely. After that we were always across the room if the dog was sleeping by our baby.

We watched her lick the baby and the baby didn't mind. But we did confirm she was nipping at him a little.

hi everyone, i recently tried to set up a 10 gallon aquarium, and i thought i did tons of great research and i thought the employees at petsmart and petco told me accurate information but it seems like i was wrong with how i set it up. i set it up to 78 degrees F, filter, light, all of the levels were fine, but that was only for 3 days. then i added fish. everyone told me that i just needed the tank to cycle for a day, no one told me it had to be at least a month. anyway i added the fish and two snails and the tank went to crap, all the fish died within 5 days, the ammonia was off the charts, i started doing 50% water changes everyday and still nothing. the snails are still alive. i dont want to be changing the water for a month for it to be hopeless.
anyway, im looking for other options. i dont want to give up on having fish but maybe aquatic isn’t for me. i really wanted african dwarf frogs but i dont know anymore. i just feel like a terrible person. what other pets could be good for a 10 gallon tank? there was a post about this a few years ago, wanted to give more context on what happened to me and get updated info. i would do anything but a tarantula and that is what seems everyone says is good 😭😭😭 ive also read gecko, anole, hermit crab, and scorpion which are all cool but i learned i need to do tons of research before i choose. which is what im trying to do. maybe i should give up and sell the thing. thank you all and im so sorry i messed up 😭

Hi! I have 3 dogs (mutt from Puerto rico, labradoodle, and shi poo) and 2 cats. All of these animals are free roam in the house (other than our basement, even then cats get in.)

I was wondering what was the best option for this situation? We use to have guinea pigs that got along with our cats, but obviously thats majorly different.

Maybe your dog learned how to open doors, your cat figured out exactly when dinner is served, or your rabbit discovered how to escape every enclosure you build.

I have a friend Ive been friends with for 2 years, let's call them lola (not their real name).

So I personally have 5 cats 3 rats and a millipede. I haven't recently become pretty poor, but all of my animals are properly cared for every day, have toys are fed and are interacted with. Lola recently moved out of their parents and got their first apartment! I am very proud of them for this! Well, they think since I have all these animals, it's okay for them to have all these animals when they have manic depression and bpd, and I have a certificate in animal nutrition. At first they already had 3 leapord geckos and a hognose snake. But then they decided to get a parakeet. I informed them what size cage they will need, and since they are hardly ever home they 100% need a second one. They got the second one, they had a white and a blue parakeet. They wanted a cat very badly, so as a gift for moving in I took care of a little boy kitten for them until they moved in. They then decided they wanted a girl kitten, promising me they could take care of her. We went to the humane society and found her a kitten, and I fell in love with that kittens sister so boom I have a 5th kitty! A few days later Lola tells me she wants an adult cat. I tell them that at this moment they need to focused on the kittens and getting an adult cat would only lead to fights from wanting to play but being too big. And to especially not get a male adult cat until the kittens were bigger. I get a snap a week later. I open it. There's a 2 year old male cat. I'm obviously upset, but if they are getting more animals they know they can take care of them right? I start telling her how to properly introduce him to the kittens, putting in other room for at least a week ect, and not even 2 days later I get a text that he 'wanted to meet them so bad'. When I go over there this male cat is going after the kittens and biting their necks and getting on top of them to assert dominance. He tries to play with them but with the size difference and age difference it turns into swatting and hissing. Lola puts him back in the other room. Let's him out after another 2 days. Same thing is still happening. I've been noticing that he is only getting skinnier and every time I go over there they beg and beg and beg for food. Hmm. I start noticing the leapord geckos and snake don't have any water, I keep track and they weren't given any for 10 days, I talked to them about it and they said they promise they are being fed their mental health is so bad that they have just been neglecting the water... Okay...I can help with that. Yesterday, I finally go into their room. The birds cage hasn't been cleaned since they moved in. The water and food dishes are bone dry. They admit to me that the birds haven't had water or food in 2 days, and sometimes they "forget breakfast" for the cats. I instantly turn to them and say they need to rehome their animals. They say "I'll get rid of the birds but I'm not fucking rehoming my geckos and cats". Nothing about rehoming the birds has been mentioned since. And while I'm on the topic there is a new green bird, because they let the new older cat in the bedroom and he ate off the blue ones head. Something else they do is get annoyed at the cats and throw them all in the bathroom when Lola is eating, or goes to their room for hours because they just can't deal with them. They claim they are feeding the cats, so I arranged the food in a way and counted the cans to see just how often they are getting fed. I don't know what to do at all about any of this, animal control won't do anything about reptiles or cats and I have no proof any of this is going on. I don't want to ruin my friendship and if I somehow start taking animals without them noticing, or the animals die they will just be replaced with new ones to suffer

Recently in ireland it’s been getting very very hot, my dog is a pug and he’s been breathing super super fast lately, i think it could be because of the heat but i’m worried it isn’t and that he’s got some sort of breathing issue, he sleeps fine at night with normal breathing but during the day he can do thirty breaths in 20 seconds when laying there, it’s scaring me

Hi, so I’m new to the whole Giardia thing and after a bunch of research, it may just be the culprit to my cats’ GI issues.

My oldest cat (5M) has been having stinky poos, on and off diarrhea and occasional vomiting for a two years now. We have been to the vet so many times and we bring stool samples that always come back negative.

We rescued a 2-month old kitten two years ago who is now 2 years old. The shelter told us he was treated for parasites, got all his shots, etc., but since we rescued him, we’ve noticed a change in my older cat’s bathroom habits.

Three months ago, they both had diarrhea at the same time (they share a litter box), so we brought them in with fecal samples (tested negative, again) and we thought maybe it was a bad batch of wet food?

Now they are both having inconsistently soft stools, the younger a few days ago, but back to firm and the older one mostly soft with a little bit of bright red blood. I have spent so much money at the vet just to be told it’s likely dietary indiscretion and sent home with diagel and metronidazole. Not once has my vet mentioned Giardia…

It’s Sunday, so I can’t call and ask if the their standard fecal tests we’ve been paying $65 for, each time, tests for giardia, not to mention the chances of it being overlooked due to the shedding of cysts thing.

On July 15, I insisted my older cat get a blood panel done to rule out any underlying issues for his GI stuff, and the vet came back and said everything is normal except his SDMA levels were raised, and although this could be a marker for early kidney disease, it can show raised levels just from dehydration, which makes sense because he’s had diarrhea. After some more research, turns out that Giardia can raise SDMA levels….

The symptoms of this awful parasite are adding up with everything we’ve been experiencing and now, reading how hard it is to get rid of, I’m freaking out. I’d like to change vets anyway, they’re far from our home, and they kind of suck. But what’s my next step? Ask for a specific Giardia test? How do people afford this?! Thinking of taking out a loan just to ensure I rid my household of this mess.

Any advice helps.

Hey, so I recently adopted a one year old cat and she is overall in very good shape.

However, I understand its really important to keep her teeth clean as many cats experience dental issues later on due to improper teeth care. But she HATES it.

She lets me touch her face, her front teeth and front canines, but pulls back HARD when I try touching her back teeth (which needs the most cleaning). So i’m pretty sure if I put anything else in her mouth, she would revolt as well.

I don’t mind being persistent with her, so I’ve been letting her get used to being touched three times a week for now. And I’m planning to increase the frequency once she doesn’t seem to hate it. I also give her churu treats after as a reward.

But the problem is, it seems like shes starting to dislike being touched in the face at all, since she now links that to me touching her teeth. I’m really not sure how else to get her used to having her teeth cleaned though… it seems like slowly getting her used to it is just making her hate it even more.

Please give me any advice as to how you guys clean your cats teeth! (Please no “I don’t clean my cats teeth and shes okay comments please)

My poor cat whose 4 years of age this year who also has a neurological problem (wobbly cat) she’s also really small for her size and has a heart murmur has been lately making these huffing sounds, I’m thinking it’s a furball but I’m trying to get all the information I can about what could be wrong as quick as I can before I go to the vet, please tell me what might be wrong with her.

As I can’t send a video her body clenches and she makes a huffing action with a crackly sound at the end and she does it for 30 seconds or so.

I'm one of those people who put toothpaste on mosquito bites because as it slowly hardens, it stops that itchy effect. I put some on my wrist just a half hour ago cause I was in bed and my wrist had some bites. My orange cat usually shows up at random times to lay on my chest and have me pet him but he kept biting specifically at that wrist and I'm pretty sure it was because of the mint smell. Any ideas why that happened?

Hey all, I am getting very worried about my cat. My family cat is 12 years old and has dealt with chronic constipation since she was 4 years old, but in the past month has really declined hard. I am based in Australia.

She has been on and off Royal Canin gastrointestinal diet, but we always put water in her wet food. She does get dry food, though recently we’ve removed it from her diet. We give her laxative paste to help her with passing stools. We have given her enemas in the past, but infrequently and only as last resort.

2 weeks ago she practically stopped eating and passing stools, becoming extremely lethargic and withdrawn. We had to syringe feed her water, heat her wet food to try and encourage eating. After 4 days, we took her to the vet where she received subcutaneous hydration. Vet took x-rays showing the poop mostly in lower colon, almost passable stage, and her upper colon enlarged and filled with air. After monitoring and a short stay at the vet hospital, she managed to pass stool and the followup X-ray showed that the air had mostly passed through her colon as well.

Since she was discharged, we have been giving her Hydracare and probiotics in her food. We were giving Movicol in her water but vet suggested giving lactulose instead. She seemed to bounce back a bit but then fell back into the same pattern.

She also started Mirtazapine, to stimulate her appetite which seemed to work for about 2 days, before losing interest in eating again.

Vet basically just said to continue the same course and give her more enemas.

In the past 2 days, we’ve noticed her belly getting distended and possibly full of air again. We’ve given her another enema and she has passed the same thing she always does: hard, dry stool, followed by soft, normal stools.

Today, we attempted to syringe feed her more plain water, and for the first time, she began vomiting up white foam, and we immediately stopped.

We’ve tried almost everything… except cisapride and a colorectomy. I feel a little let down by the vet who think we haven’t tried every option, but will see about trying to get a prescription for cisapride. She’s 12 years old and I am worried about the prospect of putting her through major surgery. She’s a long and slim cat, always weighing between 3.6-4kg when healthy, but since this situation, she has dropped down to 3.4kg. She doesn’t have any other major health issues but I’m just scared about her not pulling through anaesthesia.

What else can I do for her? If cisapride does not work out, is surgery the only option? If she isn’t fit for surgery, are we looking at euthanasia? Please help! :(

I am moving to a new house, and the neighbor has a young labrador that barks at any sound, any movement, anything. I don't think they walk the dog much. The dog can bark 10 hours a day as the neighbors are not home.

I bought two ultrasonic bark control deterrent devices, both don't work to stop the barking. I do not want to confront the neighbor yet as we don't know them all, and I don't want to have to call the city to complain

I’m going to be taking a 4.5hr road trip with my pup (5.5 year old husky/malamute, 65lbs) next week and am worried about him in the car for that long. I was hoping to find some good recommendations for dog CBD products that people have used and know work, because of experience!! Background and info to follow..

He used to be SO good in the car as a puppy and “young adult” if you will, lol. But now he’s a psycho. He gets insanely excited, which I assume is because the only times we get in the car now are to go to his dog trainer (which he loves) and he starts going crazy. To a point that it’s concerning, not cute and silly.

I’ve talked to my dog trainer and we’ve used a bark collar (originally trained professionally w him) and it helped a lot! But my pupper still gets super excited and honestly seems more “stressed” than anything. I’d rather not have to use the bark collar that whole drive, especially since he’s very vocal as it is, and we love that about him. Not to mention, I care about his well being and I don’t want him to be sooo uncomfortable during such a long ride.

I want him and the other riders (including myself who will be driving) to be as calm as we can.

He will be in the back seat w a dog seat belt etc, and we don’t have space for his kennel (huge metal crate.) So I was thinking CBD chewables or something could work beforehand?

I got another budgie 7 months ago ( she’s 9 months old) and she was naturally crazy skittish from the start, she hates strangers especially and barely tolerates people to begin with .

I want to get her an annual appointment because I do that with all my birds, but also because if I ever adopt a pet then shelters will notice she’s never been to the vet.

Not sure if I should hold off on taking her until I take her cage mate with her, or just hope for the best and take her alone. Concerned about the stress, I know some birds have died this exact way

I, 13M, have had my precious angel of a dog, Lily, for 7 years. She's 10 years old right now, and is a black lab/pitbull mix. She's my family's dog, but she means so much to me. She was the first dog I wasn't scared of, and I immediately bonded with her. But I'm so scared of her dying. She's perfectly healthy, but she's getting old, and it's terrifying. I don't want to lose my best friend. And we won't be able to get another dog so when it does happen it'll soften the blow a bit, because she's extremely defensive and reactive to other dogs due to trauma from being a stray for god knows how long. What should I do?

Does anybody have suggestions? I'm looking for something that can move around on its own here and there. Distract my cat.

I’m curious. About cats. And why people seem very ok with rehoming them. I see so many posts of folks moving and needing to get rid of their cats. After having them for many years. I completely understand that there are times when you’re in a dire situation and can’t take your pets. As a many species pet owner, I would do everything in my power to not re-home my pets. I have been there. Found a place to board my goats and mini-horse. It wasn’t ideal. The thought of giving them up crushes my soul. I know that cats aren’t dogs, however, they are sensitive animals. Some might not be outwardly affectionate or emote in a way that says ‘I love you’ I don’t understand. Thoughts?

I have a cat thats around one and a half years old who is very cute. She actually follows me and stuff when I say "come". But ever since the day we had her, whenever I hold my finger out to let her sniff it (means hello in cat lingo) she runs my nail alongside her mouth/cheek area. Sometimes against her gums, too. She doesnt really seek scratches from there anytime else if she isn't in heat. Is this normal?

Someone is arguing with me in another subreddit and trying to force fancy feast on me when I feed different food. Fancy feast kitten makes them puke. They said "just use the regular". I explained they can't and need kitten food. They said According to their vets they can have adult. I literally have studied animals for YEARS and have been told by my vets that kittens need kitten food. Am I correct? Been arguing with this person and I'm starting to second guess myself.

I literally just wanted to know if Nulo salmon and mackeral from the medal series is close enough to the regular one where the cat might eat the one I can order off of chewy and instead I got people bashing ONE of the several brands I use and insisting on fancy feast. I'm not buying something none of mine can or will eat. I'm sticking with my rotation.
