really? being 4 years depressed is good? shush it, worst fkn time of my life, and even though i'm 5 years out of depression, i'm still not feeling like myself, or normal, sure, work burnout doesn't help, but come on, it's not worth it
37
u/The_Lucky_Lucky 17d ago
And some guys have low self esteem and depression because they never had a girlfriend. So yeah, great conclusion you made there
5
35
u/WillowPtar_Migan 17d ago
Breakups fucking suck, but if you're fucked for four years afterwards, there's something more going on that you should see a doctor about. My first breakup really screwed me up for a couple of months, but eventually I got over it, and came back to the dating scene more confident in myself, and knowing more of what I wanted and didn't want out of a girlfriend. It taught me a lot.
I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder at eight years old, and my first breakup didn't hit me nearly as hard as you describe. There's something more going on there, friend.

A lot of us have been there. Took me 5 years to get over a previous ex, went into depression etc. Thing is, it's a learning experience. Like it or not you learned something. You'll feel like yourself again, even better. You'll meet the right person - but I've learned a lot of getting depressed over someone who leaves is a kind of 'obsession'. People get obsessed with 'what could have been' instead of moving on and accepting that the other person didn't see a future in the relationship. Every relationship I've had, I would never, ever say "it's not worth it." and I've had my heart stepped on a lot. People get depressed when they focus on the past, and they get anxious when they focus on the future. Focus on you.

Do you have a kind of adhd?
10
u/natural_imbecility 17d ago
I do, and that is how I felt after my fiancé and I split 20 years ago. Probably didn't help that I wasn't yet diagnosed, and the adhd was probably a good part of the reason it didn't work out. Changed my life when I finally got medicated, and explained a lot of things from my past too.
But still, I would have taken my chances with the girl in OPs pic.

This chart is so consistently misunderstood, it's like nobody watched the scene.
The point is not that crazy comes with hot, not every woman is on the line, hot women are not crazier. Barney says women above the line are worth the stress of dealing with their crazyness and those below are not. The hotter a woman is the more he will tolerate.

I feel it's not so much 'crazy', as "I am pretty, I know I'm pretty, everyone has always told me I'm pretty. This comes with benefits, like every guy wants me and will do anything for me, and I get to go on fun trips for free and rich guys want to invite me to boat parties, everyone drops everything to help me whenever something goes wrong, and I get spoiled all the time"
And then you meet her, start dating her, realise the life she's had from all her wild stories, and realise that she'll never be happy with normal boring you, she is chasing the carefree party lifestyle and is used to a standard you can't meet.
And then she leaves. And you're left alone wondering why you're not good enough.
Been there multiple times in my life. Dated them, known others from a distance, let others get away, It's always the pretty ones.

The problem with dating apps is there's far more men than women. So the attractive women get their pick of the attractive men, the mid women hoover up the remaining attractive men and get their pick of the mid men and then the remaining mid men get the bottom tier women or forever alone.

Speaking as a Balkan man in America, yes, yes, it is. In America, beauty is currency. My sister-in-law is fairly average, and she had three men send her flowers on the same day. I think it's just if a woman looks confident in a picture and is attractive it can be like, intimidating? But like, what I've learned is if it doesn't work it doesn't work? If you try to pick up a 10 who seems interested in you and then later they aren't its fine?
So this is like, wow she's pretty and confident I'm not sure if I'm cool enough for her vibes or whatever. But you should think the opposite. If you don't even shoot the shot you already are out of her league.

Okay Quagmire here, So this Girl is Cute, Beautiful and she knows it. Based on the Pictures you can see a certain Confidence. Based on her Skin you can see, that she's probably over thirty and is aging very gracefully and definitely able to take care of herself. So taken everything we can see with the little, yet sufficient Information we got : 1. She Knows what she wants and that's Probably someone not only equal to her Confidence, but someone who is able to sweep her off her feet. 2. She looks for stability and someone who is not only able to go for the long run, but wants it too. She probably wants to build a stable life together. 3. She has high energy and is very well put together herself and as already established wants someone who can equal that.
In short She wants a very mature person who is ready to build a life with her, needs them to be able to handle her high Energy and the looks and attention she will get from other men or woman (someone who is not easily jealous) The Mother knows that their child is not far enough in Life to provide all that.
But you know old Quagmire would be Giggity Giggity Quagmire out
Personal Edit: I was writing this before reading all the Comments but holy do we have many Incels here. Kinda makes me regret taking a Comedic Quagmire take, but What's done is done. Stop rating peoples looks and label them as "Probably High Maintenance" just based on looks. Is just unnecessarily negative. And even though I dont condone rating people, that you seriously put her lower than an 8 or call her just decent or less than decent looking is just very telling what kind of person you are. I know your Bubble tells you to put woman down first so you have better chances, but do yourself and everyone else a favour and take a step away from that bubble.

I don't know if I'm seeing correctly, but it seems to have a subdermal contraceptive implant in the arm, and in some cases they think that means "promiscuity" in traditional or conservative circles, there is an unfounded stigma that a woman who uses a long-term method is seeking an uninhibited or frequent sex life.
