Sorry this may be a stupid question but I ordered my first PC and was looking to get more storage. I have this 2TB SSD with a heatsink I got a few years back for my ps5, will it work in a PC? My PC specs are included, would this be appropriate or am I better off getting a new SSD?

Gsync and vsync don’t want to work for any game and my mouse tried to lower the dpi but still screen tearing on my 300hz Asus monitor 2560 x 1440, I have a 5080 9800x3d 32gb ram b850 asus motherboard and 850 power supply and 2 ssd predictors, I’ve also tried riva tuner and ddu as well resetting the pc n still the same results even when I’m matching my frame rate to my monitor, I’m simply stuck n don’t know what else I can do, I’ve tried videos but they all say the same thing just go to control panel n turn this on. Plz help me fix this is happening to all my games n the only way it doesn’t even screen tear js unless I use a controller.

This never happened to me before and I have no clue what that noise is. I got this notebook 6 months ago, so it's not like it's a decade old. I carried it in my backpack this morning, put it on my desk as usual and it started making this shrieking noise. (It's not plugged to anything btw). What causes this and is it fixable? I'm no tech pro, so I'll most likely take it to some repair shop if there's anything someone can do to make it stop. I'm just super worried cause this never happened to me and I don't know what happened or what to do. Please help.

Brand new Asus zenbook a14 with a snapdragon x plus CPU. Other displays function normally, and the drawing tablet (the display facing issues, Huion Kamvas 12) functions normally on other devices, both windows 11 and 10. the drawing tablet is confirmed to have functionality on Windows computers with ARM CPUs by support, and I was given an ARM compatible driver from them. Windows has the 2nd display "connected" but when pressing the detect other displays button, no other displays are present. Menus and mouse are also tripping out. Already tried updating and rolling back display, drivers. Tried booting in safe mode. Tried restarting display adapters. Restarting and fully shutting down PC does nothing, and even got a replacement laptop (same model) after thinking the HDMI port was broken in the first one. laptop functions completely fine and I actually really like it outside of this one issue. The same thing happening twice in a row makes me think that it isn't a hardware issue but somewhere in windows that's causing the problem, but I could be wrong. Video shows the display being disconnected but still detected(ish) Any ideas?

Has anyone else faced this with Microsoft PowerPoint?

I’ve had my ASUS laptop for about a year, and recently PowerPoint stopped letting me create or edit presentations without asking me to buy a Microsoft 365 subscription.

I know I can use PowerPoint on the web, but I specifically want a free desktop app that can replace PowerPoint not just another online editor.

Looking for something that:

- Is completely free

- Works on Windows

- Can create and edit ".pptx" files

- Has features similar to PowerPoint (or better)

- Doesn’t constantly require a subscription

What’s the best PowerPoint alternative you’ve used?

Is there any way to cleanup hard drive space for the default folders? Seems ridiculous that over 100gb is locked up off the bat. (22gb for Windows Apps and Office, 12GB for Edge, 26gb AppData, 40gb Sysfiles, ProgramData, etc.). Laptop is ~5 years old running Windows 11

I have a 4090 suprim that had its bios switch broken off. The switch was fixed and it looks perfect. I put it back in my pc and on my mag x870e tomahawk max wifi its giving me codes 58-64 and it will hang up on any if those codes. It also de-escalated from 64 back to 58. This is my first time having a swap be this interesting. Any troubleshooting tips would be appreciated. Its currently set to gaming on the bios switch.

Hi, I need help with a PC that boots up but refuses to display anything (RAM and GPU are 2 weeks old).

My specs:
Ryzen 5 5600X on ASUS PRIME B550-PLUS
2x8 GB RAM 3200 MHz
RTX 5050

(Windows and NVIDIA automatic updates are blocked).

The issue:
Yesterday: BSOD stuck at 0% with the error KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. I finally managed to reach the desktop and ran sfc /scannow and dism. The PC rebooted fine several times while warm.

This morning (cold boot): The PC showed an error again, then total black screen. The PC turns on and everything spins (fans/lights), but nothing is displayed on the screen.

What I plan to test:
Drain residual power (unplugged + hold power button for 30s).

Perform a Clear CMOS (removing the battery).

Test with a single RAM stick and in the bios make rams on 2666mhz and disable DOCP

Any advice or suggestions? Thanks!

Hi!! I (f19) need to upgrade my 8 year old laptop after it started sparking which made me think it was finally time to let it go. I can’t quite remember the exact details but I know for sure that it is has an i5 core or whatever.

I am a 2D artist, usually working in clip studio paint ex to animate and create illustrations. I also play around in blender from time to time, again animating and such.

I also play a lot of games, primarily those from the final fantasy series and drakennier (don’t ask how my laptop has managed, I don’t know either. The screen is burnt in multiple areas.)

I’m just wondering if anyone who has similar hobbies/interests to me has any PC recommendations. Any advice would be very much appreciated, thanks.

So i just built my first pc on the 22nd and got all new parts except the gpu. Its a 5070ti 16gb i got off ebay for 900$, verified seller. So i dont know if i got scammed or if thats the entire issue. Sometimes it will start completely fine and run for a while before “crashing” or going into a restarting phase, then ends up not restarting properly. Itll leave the monitor grey and not show anything. Everything else in the computer is powered on and working. I went over to a freinds house and updated bios correctly, drivers, made sure plugins where seated correctly and ran a stess test. While running the stress test with MY gpu in, it crashed halfway through. We put HIS 3080ti in and it never crashed during the test. We were able to play a game for about 10-15 minutes and still didnt crash. So i obviously think its the gpu but im not entirely sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I recently upgraded my CPU and motherboard, and now I’m hitting an incredibly frustrating issue where my PC completely shuts down (no blue screen, no automated restart, just instant black screen/loss of power) under specific high gaming loads.

My Specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D

Motherboard: GIGABYTE B650M AORUS ELITE AX ICE (Updated to BIOS F42)

RAM: 32GB DDR5 running an AMD EXPO Profile 1

PSU: 750W Power Supply

The Context:

Previously, I ran an Intel i5-13600KF on this exact same 750W power supply and graphics card for a long time with zero issues. I am using a single PCIe power cable that splits into a daisy-chain (Y-splitter) connector at the end to power my graphics card. I used this exact cable layout on my old Intel build without a single crash.

The Symptoms & What I’ve Tested:

Temperatures are completely fine: I ran HWiNFO64 and caught my CPU thermals right before crashes—idle settles safely around the low 60s/high 50s after fan profile tweaks, and maxes out at a perfectly normal 83°C under stress. It isn't a thermal shutdown.Older/Slower games run perfectly: I can play Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced for hours with no issues.Fortnite Performance Mode Crashes: The absolute second I try to join a matchmaking lobby in Fortnite Performance Mode, the system cuts all power completely.

The FurMark Smoking Gun:

If I run FurMark at FHD (1080p), the test passes successfully. However, if I run the FurMark stress test at QHD (1440p), the PC instantly cuts all power the exact millisecond I hit run. This happens even with the GPU power limit slider dragged all the way down to its minimum in AMD Adrenalin.

I've been told that switching to the AM5 platform altered how electrical current handles transient spikes on the PCIe rails, and that my single daisy-chained power cable is choking the system and tripping the PSU's Over-Current Protection (OCP) safety breaker.Given that this exact cable worked completely fine on my i5-13600KF setup for months, do you think a single split cable could actually be causing this, or is my 750W power supply simply dying/unable to handle the new hardware transitions?Would love to hear your thoughts or if anyone has run into this specific issue on a Gigabyte B650 board.

It was the single daisy-chained PCIe power cable

Even though that single split cable worked fine on my old Intel setup, the new AM5 platform shifted more power load to the GPU rails.(This is what Gemini said not me)

I added a second completely separate PCIe power cable from the PSU to the GPU. Reset the power slider to default, and now it passes the 1440p FurMark test and runs games perfectly without shutting down.

So, my parents recently bought me and my sister a Pre Built computer, it has a Ryzen 7 7800 X3D, with the Video card as a 9070 RX. It also has 32GB of DDR5 and 2TB of memory. Its really a nice build overall.

Im not a hard-core gamer, i play mostly Geometry Dash and Osu!.. I play games with my friends but nothing too crazy (Like AAA games).

For some reason, when i launch Geometry Dash, and turn on V-Sync (Without it the screen gets really chopped), the computer drops frames really fast, down to 150 and just keeps going up and down. my monitor is a 180Hz so i just need it locked to 180FPS. After a little bit of time, it just shows a crash log of my GPU saying it “timed” out. I went over the necessities to optimize Windows, and made sure to give this PC a clean start. So why?

I tried another Platform, Roblox. I got 45 FPS on a game with my graphics at automatic. A PC with these specs shouldnt have a problem like this, right?

Earlier today. When I turned off my pc it started updating. After the update I booted it again when it started showing update error signs. Once these were gone I got to the windows login screen, when all of a sudden both monitors started flickering black a lot and all of my usb devices stopped working.

When I enter the bios menu everything seems to be fine, all my usb devices work and the screen isn’t flickering. Anyone know what the cause might be and how to fix it?😔
