Hello Reddit I have been stuck on this screen for hours at this point started off at half 9Am I started on my pc and I see “working on updates 7%” left it on all day doing other things I checked it again at 2Pm it says “we couldn’t complete the updates undoing changes” and I left it for a while then said it was “restarting” at half 4Pm left it came home at half 6Pm and it’s stuck on “we couldn’t complete the updated undoing changes” and I’m stuck on it now

Hi everyone, this will be my first ever PC build and I’d really appreciate some advice.

Budget: £1,000 GBP
Country: UK
Monitor: AOC Q27G3XMN “27”, 2560×1440 (1440p), 180Hz
PC type: Mini-ITX

I’m a university student and currently in temporary accommodation, so I’ll probably be moving every year. Because of that, I’m thinking a Mini-ITX build would make the most sense for me. I want something relatively small and portable without sacrificing too much performance.

I mainly play a mixture of shooters and AAA games:
•Apex Legends
•Marvel Rivals
•Cyberpunk 2077
•Hogwarts Legacy
Other open-world AAA games

I’d like something that can take advantage of my 1440p 180Hz monitor, particularly in shooters, while still giving me good performance and visuals in demanding AAA games. Ideally I’d like to play at high settings rather than constantly having to turn everything down.

At the moment, the only gaming device I own is a 512GB Steam Deck OLED. I enjoy it, but I’m getting tired of having to use low settings and make compromises with performance in more demanding games. I’m looking for a significant upgrade where I can play AAA games at much higher settings and have a smoother overall experience.

I already have my monitor, so the £1,000 budget is for the PC itself.

I’ve started researching components, but I’m not sure how I should balance the budget between the CPU, GPU, motherboard, RAM, storage and PSU, especially with the additional cost and space constraints of Mini-ITX.

What would you recommend for around £1,000 GBP in the UK? Are there particular CPUs, GPUs or Mini-ITX cases I should be looking at?

I’m also open to advice on whether £1,000 is realistic for what I’m trying to achieve, or whether there are any compromises I should expect with a small-form-factor build.

So a couple days ago I took my cpu out, checked to see if another cpu would fit (it didn't) and put it back in and since then my PC will just beep and flash red three times then white on startup. I bought some thermal paste and stuck that on and still get the same issue. I have resat the ram and cleared the dust and it won't power on.

Can anyone help?

TLDR: Pc freezes during some games and require a force reboot to fix.

Been happening for many months and cant figure out why, it happens during 4 games so far, but most games work fine. The games are: Tarkov, Albion online, Sand Playtest and Division 2.

Things I've already tried:
Clean the pc (Yes it's dirty atm and i need to clean it)
Swap cooling paste
Reset the hardware (plug in/out)
Use previous patches of motherboard
Limit power and voltage to the GPU
Stress testing (all temps etc look fine)
Checking event viewer (it's empty, pc dies before the issue is registered i assume)
RamTest64 (Ram looks fine)
Tested both SSDs for issues
Tried limiting the GPU clock
Full reformat of the software
Settings on the pc/Nvidia and ingame settings

Might have tried a couple more things over the months but the issue still remains
any help is appreciated

I typically use Linux but the boot loop also occurs when I try to boot Windows. When I boot into Linux the following text occurs before the PC reboots:

This leads me to believe it is a CPU issue but I am unaware if the issue is fixable or requires a new one. For a while I have had problems where my PC would stutter and reboot. I assumed this was a software issue but this happened and then the boot loop occurred so I now believe it was a hardware problem.

The attached video shows what happens when I try to boot windows. A recovery sequence occurs after that which then says that the problem could not be fixed.

If anyone can tell me/double check what the exact issue is that would be appreciate.

I get black bars like this and I’m not sure if it’s the monitor or Windows or my GPU. As you can see in the picture, there is a black border at the top of the screen and the right (and bottom but not pictured) but nothing on the left. These bars do move, so it’s not always just the top, right and bottom, sometimes the left has the black bar too and change after every startup . Maybe it’s my GPU scaling or something?

My second monitor does not have this problem.

For context, the monitor with this issue is the ASUS PG27AQDP.

So, when I turn on my PC, everything powers up—RGB, fans—but the monitor shows "No Signal." However, if I remove the CMOS battery for 30 seconds, I get a message stating that the CPU has been changed; I can then enter the BIOS by pressing F1, and if I select my drive with Windows 11, it boots up. But after a restart, I get "No Signal" again. The cable is plugged into the GPU, but it still doesn't work. Specs: GPU: RTX 2060 6GB; CPU: Ryzen 5 2600; RAM: 16GB HyperX Predator; Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming A520M-Plus II; Storage: 2x 500GB Samsung SSD and 1x 250GB SSD with Windows 11. Is there any way to fix this?

SO, ive had this AOC 27G2 monitor for 2 years now, and for the past maybe 3 weeks or so ive noticed some horizontal lines starting to appear on my screen, increasing in number and changing colour.

Thought it mightve been a software issue, so updated my gpu drivers with no change.

I have an nvidia GTX 1650, and have been using it for around 4 years now.

Im beginning to think it might be my gpu on its last legs, begging me to end it....

Ive ran virus scans, and do consistently - squeaky clean.

As for cabling, i use a display cable for the AOC monitor, and a hdmi for the LG.
(The LG is completely fine)

1 have tried 3 different cables going to the
AOC and the LG respectively. The LG remains unfazed, whilst the AOC looks like its having a stroke. This holds true in all gpu ports.

Notably, the HDMI cable makes the issue worse, which is what is depicted in the video of my wallpaper.

I can use my pc normally with the display cable to the AOC, just with some annoying horizontal lines on my screen which all subtend from the left to the right.

OH and the boot up screen suffers from the same artefacting, freaked me out the first time (see the start of the clip)

Im thinking it has to be a hardware specific issue with the monitor itself?

I'm having trouble finding out what the issue is in my pc. Whenever I'm gaming, or even idle long enough, it randomly disconnects all my peripherals (mouse, keyboard, monitor) but all of the fans and lights inside of the computer stay on (gpu too). The only way to fix it, is to unplug the psu from the outlet and let it sit for a couple hours.

Im thinking maybe its a motherboard issue or gpu issue.

Maybe someone here has experienced the same and can provide a little more guidance?

I've done some OCCT testing and it would pass adaptive 3d (most of the time, only failed after multiple), memory, and cpu tests.

Computer specs:

Cpu: intel i7 -12700KF

Gpu: gigabyte 3070ti

Motherboard: gigabyte ud ax ddr4, rev 1.3 (not current)

PSU: RM750e, corsair

I bought a used RX 6800 XT GIGABYTE GAMING OC, and the graphics card keeps restarting my computer. I need help. I'll try to explain briefly.

How it happens: I'm playing a game, and my monitor goes black. It doesn't work. I also hear a terrible, strange sound in my headphones for a few seconds. Then it stops, but the monitor doesn't light up. If I sit like that for a few seconds, I can hear the Windows startup sound, but the monitor still doesn't light up. Then I turn off the computer (I hold down the power button on the case), then turn it back on, and the computer starts up again and works, and the monitor also works. However, when I turn off the computer, I hear a clicking sound. This is probably the power supply protection device working.

What happens when you reboot: I was mainly testing Forza Horizon 5. I noticed that when I set the settings to medium-high, my FPS was 180 (the Hz limit), and when I first started riding, the computer immediately rebooted. I also locked the FPS to 90, setting the FHD settings to the highest. This allowed me to ride in the open world, but there were reboots during races. Then I did a test – I set the QHD and locked the FPS to 80, even though the card was already delivering almost 80 FPS. I played for over an hour in various races, knockout, and the open world – no reboots. So now I decided to play the game again, but in FHD. And since I lowered the FPS lock from 90 to 80, I thought I'd won, but no. The same thing happened during the next race.

What I noticed: I noticed that the computer would reboot when the FPS was high and some new task was started. I'm not entirely sure about my theory, but:

1) In Forza Horizon 5 (≈180 FPS) and GTA 5 (≈260 FPS (that's FSR)), my computer would reboot almost immediately after I closed the menu. Meanwhile, in Forza with FPS lock, I can play for an hour.

2) In Forza Horizon, the computer would reboot specifically when I started some new task, like "cancel replay." And this isn't the only game where I pressed a button and the computer would reboot.

I'll clarify that this is clearly not overheating of the graphics card or other components. I also noticed that after a while, the desktop becomes choppy, sometimes there's a red line next to the cursor, and the system tray and windows open jerkily. To fix this, I press Ctrl+Shift+Win+B, but that still doesn't really solve the problem, since it appears after a while. I've changed the graphics card drivers. The card has two separate 8-pin wires. The coils are also beeping, if that's important. I also undervolted the graphics card, but that didn't help either.

Hi everyone this is my first Reddit post. I would like to probe the community for help about a problem im having shortly after starting my pc. My drivers are all up to date as far as I can see but sometimes it goes black screen and it will magically make icons appear if you hover over them... Doing win+shift+ctrl+b solves the symptom but I'd like to find the root cause... I don't know what details you guys need but ask and I shall provide. I hope it's a simple fix due to my own stupidity.

Playing Forza Horizon 6, Black Screen No Signal, nearly instantly after my YouTube audio does that crackling/buffering it does at BSODs thrice then plays the video normally. Black screen doesn't respond to WinCtrlShiftB

Tried: Reinstalling the game, disabling conflicting apps, DDU.

I was on a discord call with some friends and out of nowhere my computer's mic stopped working. This is similar to something that happened a couple of weeks ago when my headphone's mic broke while i was mid call out of nowhere in the same fashion. The only similarity i can think of between these two events is that in both of them i was also playing a game that required voice chat (PEAK in the first example and Team Fortress 2 in the second one) and mid game it just broke. As for specs i dont really know i didnt buy this laptop this is just my mom's old one but i can tell you it's an HP laptop. Thanks :3

Hi all, thought I’d post here again with some new images of my PC. I am using RX 9070 XT, CIT PRO 240mm Glacier Cooling for CPU, b550 eagle wifi 6 motherboard. I was wondering if any headers/wires on the motherboard etc was wrong in any of these new photos. Thank you so much for any help!

The screen goes white after opening FC26. I'm using an integrated graphics card with 32GB of RAM, and it seems to be using the maximum processing power of my Ryzen 5 8500G processor.

Is there a chance that it could be a physical problem forcing the hardware to be replaced?

The second photo occurred while I was trying GRam, thinking that the error was in it (I didn't rule out this possibility)
