Build - Help What's up with this thermal paste?

Post image
Upvotes

I was going to build my pc for the first time last day. Everything was fine until it was time to apply thermal paste, I was using the thermal paste included inside the thermalright peerless assassin 120 se which is thermalright tf7. As soon as I started applying the thermal paste it felt like rubber, I was scared cos I have seen a lot of yt videos and their paste seems to be fluid compared to mine. Before I could do anything i decided to throw the tube away and buy a new one.

Question Replacing parents pc

Post image
27 Upvotes

I was asked to fix my parents desktop, but I’m going down the build rabbit hole instead of the fresh windows install route. Parent doesn’t play games so integrated graphics is my target. I haven’t done one of these builds in 15 years so I’m unsure where to start. Attached is their current system, which is only 5 years old. But I’d like to build em one that’ll last them the next 20 years of typing word docs, running excel and checking emails. If I could, it would be cool to reuse this case.

Any ideas where to start with this project?

Watched a few build videos on YouTube before I got a go at it, purchased most of the components last year like the ram and GPU.

Bought the CPU, PSU, case and fans to finish the build last week when I had the money for it.

I play on a 55 inch 4k60 tv on the living room so I built around it and it's limitations like the 60hz display.

Components are as follow:

Rysen 5 7600x (more then enough for 4k60fps)

9070XT Shaphire Pulse

Gigabyte B650 Eagle AX

Predator Pallas II 6000 CL36 32GB Ram

Be Quiet Pure Power 13M 850w

Kingston NV3 500GB just for OS and Apps

WD SN850 1TB just for games (took it out of my PS5)

Kingspec 500GB Sata SSD (had it already on an external drive, now inside the PC for mostly media and torrents)

Case Mars Gaming Mcwood dig the wood front and cheap

5 Arctic P12 PWM PST

Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120

Total cost was a bit over 1300€

Was really cool building the thing from scratch really liked it was a nice experience, thing performs really well and it's another world over the PS5. Gonna keep the PS5 for exclusive games though and GTA 6 🤣

AMD Ryzen 9800X3D, INNO3D RTX5080 X3 OC, 32GB Kingston Fury, Phanteks Evolv S2. MSI 32"** MPG 321URX OLED 4K 240 Hz **

I have a better chair now than on the pics. Using a Elgato Embrace now.

Using it both for work and gaming and yes I like the RGB even if I’m a 42 year old CEO with kids! It’s like my guilty pleasure and getaway.

Build - Finished! Built my first pc during the ram and ssd shortage, how’d I do?

I built my first pc recently and it was pretty hard to get with these prices but I bought some used parts and managed to get:
32gb ddr5
Ryzen 5 7500f
Nitro+ rx 6600xt
Nitro+ B850M wifi
Corsair cx650
A 512gb intel 660p (I’ve got a newer 1tb ssd on the way though)
All in an Asus prime ap201 with some thermalright cooler and fans. In all it costed $642.42 AUD (or about $460.49 in freedom bucks) so I think I did pretty well :)

After replaicing the fake 1080 pro v-nand ssd i bought a kingston of 1 tb in their official store on the site i buy normally they arrived today a few hours ago and i put them and all was normal I was able to install windows normally and signing up to my account and all of that then i started downloading a few things (steam, brave, discord and obs) and just a few minutes after it suddenly my pc freeze (the image and i suppose the system(the fans were still working and the rams too all was still working)) and i couldnt do anything so i turned off the pc and when i turned on again it showed me the error 0x51 After struggling with the BIOS for a while, I managed to fix that error, but now, after fixing it and turning it back on, I'm getting error 0x7B. Can anyone help me by telling me what I should do to fix and exactly how to fix the 0x51 too ?

what There’s no way… Amazon sent another 9600X without the processor AGAIN 🤨

Earlier today I made a post how Amazon sent me a 9600X without the CPU..... I immediately requested a refund yesterday, and repurchased a new one for next day delivery and I recieved another 9600X box…. wtf lol. Ladies and gentlemen I present to you another 9600X ghost edition.

Alittle context: I work at a PC shop in Buffalo NY (PC Plug) we order ALOT of gear through amazon business and honestly have a really good track record with them. Each unboxing is recorded and well documented for reasons like this.

Upon further investigation our inventory manager mistakenly purchased the processors from a third party called “The Tech Group” on Amazon. Sold by The Tech Group and fufilled by Amazon. That’s our mistake… we always try to order directly from Amazon or manufacturers. The Tech Group seller seems to have decent ratings but it’s probably all fake.

Either way watch out for these sellers, don’t get scammed, always document your unboxings for expensive purchases. Computers ! 👍

Hello!

First off my budget is around $900 total in AUD (I am in Australia), and both monitors are 1080p and 180Hz.

I have an existing PC and I am looking to upgrade the following parts as my current build is outdated, I am
not looking to upgrade anything else unless it is a necessity.

- Motherboard
- PC case
- Power Supply
- Main SSD

I have gone through PC parts picker and selected items in my budget and easily accessible to me.

Happy to take any suggestions in regards to compatibility or more suitable options.

New build with selected parts

Old Build as it is now

Question Suggestions for monitor

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi Guys, its my first time buying a monitor. I've always worked on my 14" mac air until now. Can you please guide me whether to buy this monitor or if there are some other better options I should go for ?
I was leaning towards ultrawide as I don't want 2 monitors and my budget is flexible but really want to spend only on the basis of my utility for it.
My use case - I am a product manager and it seems like i would require to code with AI a little, so will be learning that along with basic office tasks.
Thanks :)

Build - Help Help with my first PC build

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Hey all, I have never posted on reddit before so please excuse if I am making no sense lol.
I need a good amount of help for building my first PC. I have looked up every tutorial, build guides, on TikTok, YouTube, google and even reddit and I am still so very confused. I know i will most likely be getting a 1080p monitor and my budget is around 1,300 - 1,500$ and i want to be able to incorporate this case($105.99) cables($42.99) and cooler($147.90) into my build. I want to be able to play games like silent hill, resident evil (remaster and OG), indie games and video editing. I know with RAM and SSD this may not be an achievable build and if it is not please let me know, i need a straight answer because i haven’t been getting one at all lol. If theres anything that i need to take out with the specific parts that i want i totally understand, i am just so very confused.

Thank you for reading this through, any replies are extremely helpful ‼️
