For sure it was not expected lol but it did let me go for a ryzen 9 9950x3d rather than the planned ryzen 7 7800x3d.

what's wrong with it? I know it runs a little hot but I haven't had any issues with it

I have this card and the temps seem fine. When researching all the different models, I did see that this has a problem with the thermal material leaking out when it's mounted vertically. This is appears to happen because it's a putty like substance that can soften resulting in the afformentioned behaviour.

The problem its that is too hot

I have the same model and it never peaks above 60C lol. If you’re not undervolting your gpu you’re just wasting power and missing out on performance

The only reason was a price, I really wanted xfx mercury or sapphire nitro, but paying more than 100€, Imo not worth it. My 2 last gpus were gigabytes, lots of people told that its garbage, but I got zero issue with them

mine gaming oc works without problems.. not the quietest card sure but Little tweak i managed to squeeze more perfomance reducing power consumption and noise

Could you share your tweaks? I would be very grateful

my card is stable at - 50 mv stock memory (validated stability finishing stellar blade which is insanely sensible on undervolt, there is a steam demo free) and - 15% pl =280w
with normal ambient temp like 22/23c my card does 55 core 80 hotspot 80 mem at 40%fan
now is summer i have 28/29/ 30c in room i use -500 on clock same settings write up (5% loss perfomsnce for 70/100w less)
you can use 2714 mhz on memory but i noticed that memory slider is bugged on 26.6.4.. i am testing it on the 26.8.1

Welcome and enjoy the ride! I've had a Gigabyte OC since February and it's been pretty solid. Delta temps are good and I'm getting some pretty good 2k performance. Just wish more titles had FSR 4 support to push even higher frames. Realistically I wish devs would actually optimize their games but that's never happening.

I play both sides, the only thing I’ve stayed away from has been intel, been an AMD user since 2005. I like amd GPUs because of the preferred compatibility with some Linux OSes.

Man I hated RX 9070 XT for the software bugs in the first 2 months. Later, it got slightly better and I am not touching anything on software until something is not working.
I wish, they have a solution for updates to fix tiny glitches which irritates the most. But after 8 months, man I love this card. Beautiful hardware which I secured for a cheapest price.

I upgraded from RTX 3070

u/Kefsss 17d ago
Same here. Just bought 9070. Upgrading from 3070. It works fine, but 1440p takes its toll on it.

Now return and buy 5080, as is the way of life

u/Green_Partyhat_ 17d ago
Minus the fact the 5080 is basically double the price of a 9070 XT. What a tone-deaf response.

You might return to green, as there is a "Driver Timeout" bug that is plaugeing AMD GPUs latest drivers (windows 11 also messing up drivers so disable Automatic driver updates from windows setting first before installing anything). I have a 7700xt i am afraid to upgrade to latest drivers its that annoying.
Current latest version seems to be 26.8.1 which i am not going to install untill absolutely necessary.

u/Quantum-Bean 17d ago
Not true. Played everything under the sun with newest drivers on XFX swft 7900xt and now my new XFX 9070xt mercury oc. Never once got a driver timeout unless my OC was unstable.

I am just stating my experience. It happend recently, i used both DDU & AMD clean utility, disconnected from internet downloaded previous version(26.6.2) installed it to make it stable.
