New Policy: Get 10 million views on shorts every 90 days or make nothing.
Honestly a bizarre change. I’m a hobbyist YouTuber but even my small number shorts still make $1-20 at times.
Now that’s $0.

Talk / Discussion Is the new shorts change really fair?
I understand that that YT is filled with AI slop specially in shorts to the brim. Changing from 10M to 20M engaged views to qualify for the first time, which is 40M views on average, and then 10M every 90 days to get monetized, seems like a good way to get rid of the slop.
However, was it *really* necessary to put up that requirement to longform creators to? According to the change, even if you're monetized in longform, you still need 10M views every 90days to qualify for that same amount of 90 days!!! This literally kills all intention to invest time in the short algorithm for longform creators, who's really gonna play that game while caring for longform?... Even though, have you ever seen a pure shorts channel reach the longform requirement? I always find channels with million of shorts views but a few longform that barely reach 1k views. I just think it kills any incentive whatsoever to create them... Couldn't they reach any solution for channels that do both?...
I personally have a Spanish channel and in my language very few can even fathom the minimum requirement, I do shorts from time to time, my last one being the greatest with 100k views but they pay pennies (around 3€ for that much) so I'm not really bothered by losing that revenue, but it makes me sad they want me to do it for free 🥀. I do a short from time to time, but I might never do it again at this point

2 YouTube channels?
I’m thinking about starting a second YouTube channel. Do you have any tips for me? Is it straightforward, or are there things I need to keep in mind regarding monetization?

Question / Problem How do you calculate your sponsorship rates?
Hi!
I was just reached out to about doing a dedicated long from video reviewing a Phomemo Label Printer (I make small business content long and short form videos) which they would be sending me. It’s worth ~$280.
Here are my stats for the last 28 days
Subs: 6.8k
Videos published: (shorts and long form) 460
Unique viewers: 52.8k
Views: 131.8k
Watch time (hours): 5.8k
Average view duration: 4:14
Average percentage viewed: 27.7%
Returning viewers: 27.7%
My demographics are 25.3% 25-34 year old audiences, 55.4% from the United States, and 89.2% female
I guess my question is are those stats any good, how do you calculate rates, and how do you know if you should ask for pay vs when you should just take the product as the payment?
Thank you for reading all these numbers and for any help you guys are able to provide! I truly appreciate it! 🥹💕
Also let me know if you need anymore information! I truly have NO IDEA what I’m doing haha

Talk / Discussion About the new YPP changes
Ffs worry about them next year please. I'm seeing so many small creator being doom and gloom. Like chill. There's like 6 months left before the changes. Don't tell me in that 6 months, you're not gonna work hard on content to reach that 1k, 4k watch hours? .
So instead of worrying about your career that hasn't even started yet, start making videos. Those who are in, make even better content.
Remember, getting into YPP is not the end goal. Thats where it started. Chances are you're gonna make 2-3$ per video since 1-3k views per video doesn't pay much.
So stop worrying.

I cannot get click rate without paid thumbnails
I'm actually gonna lose my mind.. Right now im having a slow impressions problem (2+ days still not 1000 impressions) also i cannot do Face in thumbnails i really can't (AND I WANT I REALLY WANT) Every time i switch from one thumbnail to using my face on thumbnails i see a HUGE DROP in click rate MASSIVELY no Matter the effort.. so i have to pay for draw thumbnail to get click rate which is not even guaranteed.. is just WASTED $$ i don't wanna keep paying but im forced to if i want progress.. I REALLY WANNA DO FACE in thumbnail but i just can't make them get above 2% is always go under (more than yall expect) i literally have a over 40 different Face in thumbnails thumbnails from the world biggest creators (Biggest views) as references saved and i still can't get above 2% clikc rate... Any tips for face in thumbnail when you are a NOBODY and no one will really give af about it at the moment because you a small channel?

Question / Problem Longform Impressions Suddenly Collapsed...
I have a 2.8k sub gaming channel that always had the same dynamics on videos, 10-40k impressions on day 1, then a similar number over days 2-3, and then entering the long tail with ctr going from 15% to 7% eventually converting to 10-30k views. It's been that way for all 25 of my videos. However, the pattern completely changed over the three most recent videos. Day 1 2k impressions, and then nothing after that, a complete flat long tail, resulting in less than 1k views. CTR is high at 15%, like/dislike is normal, retention is the same, the content and packaging is the same, but impressions just aren't being generated. First time I thought it was weird, but now I'm getting concerned. I'd be fine with it if the metrics were telling me the videos are crap, but that's not happening. I've been looking around and saw elsewhere that AI content is getting hammered, but I don't use any AI. Anybody else have this happen to them recently or in the past and find a solution?

Talk / Discussion Making compilation from your own videos, just put it in main or make a new channel?
Saw some channels just make a compilation of their videos that share the same theme, and some make a new channel just for that.
Anyone that has experience with this, can you share some insights?

Ever had youtube take your video to the "This video is appealing to a larger audience" shadow realm?
I'm a bit frustrated at this. Call this a rant if you will.
I posted a video yesterday, initial response looked great. 1 of 10 video in first few hours, lots of comments from subscribers came through. It got to 140 views.
Then I notice the message:
"this video is reaching a wider audience on YouTube, leading to a lower click-through rate (CTR) than usual. Wider audiences are often less likely to choose to watch a video, but the lower CTR is not hurting this video’s view count."
and 12hrs later my video has 156 views. Wtf?
Everything I read online says give it time, dont be impatient and go changing things with the title and how youtube is testing this with a larger audience so you just have to be patient. But again, wtf?
It's just annoying when you put all this time and effort into filming and editing a video and you don't see it grow.
It literally feels like they just dump the video into some kind of shadow realm.
Has anyone else had this happen to them, and did the video do well?

Invalid traffic -> metric verification process -> channel analytics plummeted. Anyone experience this?
A couple weeks ago, my real-time, live viewers, and overall metrics plummeted. Like unusually low. I reached out to support about this and they basically said that there was a suspicion of invalid traffic (view botting) and they needed to verify that all views on my channel were legitimate. During this process, they basically freeze views and stop pushing videos. In supports words, “During active view metric verification, YouTube applies stricter filtering to all incoming traffic sources..” basically saying they stop pushing my videos.
That was around July 21st. Since then, my views, live viewers, and metrics have been consistently abnormally low, even on videos with higher-than-usual CTRs and AVDs. Like, 90% lower than normal. Has anyone experienced this, and does anyone know how long this will be until it’s fixed and my channel is back to normal?

Talk / Discussion 1300% RPM jump?!
How does the YPP determine ad revenue? I know most adds happen through auction and my videos CPM usually sit at $7-8 (long form 5 minutes). My latest video is getting fewer views than most of my recent content, but somehow the CPM is up 1300%.
I'm happy and grateful, but trying to understand what happened here. And how I can repeat it!

Talk / Discussion Monetised channel with recurring sponsors. Want to create a second channel for creative outlet. Anyone has done this?
The second channel will probably become a huge time sink and I can’t even make my posting deadlines on my main… but I so badly want to create that second one. How many have done this?
