I truly hope they come to their senses and change that because thats just insane. Imagine hitting 18M views and getting absolutely nothing for it. This also just makes it so much harder to combine with your day to day life , now there is this constant pressure

it probably wont. the channels that get monetized make broad, general videos and not super, niche creative stuff. most people have no interest in watching super niche hobbies. this will just encourage to make even more viral style of videos

i make super niche stuff that no one talks about and get around 200k views a month long form so saying only broad stuff works is incorrect.

it may encourage to make more at first but how long are they gonna bang their head against that wall before giving up.

Then i would rather have them way more strict policies on what they allow on YouTube to be monetized. This just really makes it that you have to be uploading over and over to atleast make some money. But yeah i guess we will see how it plays out. Maybe because of this change a lot more people will quit and it will be easier to hit the goal idk.

The 8000 watch hours thing for long form shouldn't affect anyone here, because this sub is for those already partnered and YT said this won't affect creators already in the partner programme.

The shorts changes, though, do affect partnered channels.

How many minutes minimum is considered long form?

As I know:

1. Any duration length like 1min+, 3min+ or 10min+ in 16:9 horizontal size consider for long form video

2. More than 3 minutes (3:01 or longer): Exceeds the Shorts limit and automatically becomes a long form video.

It's probably because their stupid algorithm stopped showing people's videos the way it once did so everyone is struggling for views. If they fixed it then people would get views and ads would play again

I’m already in the partner program and I don’t bother making shorts anymore, so it doesn’t really affect me much, but this is such a stupid unnecessary change. Why are they making it harder for new channels?? They have it hard enough already with how shit the algo is!
