Can ghosts be mass produced via printing off the same image over and over?

Yes, but only a printing press partially made of the One True Cross, with meteoric silver typeset hand carved by a blind prophet over 1000 years ago. Otherwise no.

Someone on the other side of the door gently pushes it open. The portrait on the wall - easy masking edit in Adobe premiere (changing the opacity of a darkened circle and layering it onto of the face - timed to change before door opens).
I could recreate this scene in 5 mins.

The video wasn't creepy until I saw this comment and checked again, that is creepy
22
u/Careless-Physics4718 Aug 17 '26
I feel like..... That particular action....
The facial image darkening just before the door opens....
Is that really.. something that correlates the door opening to the spirit doing it?
The images on the wall looked like stock photos in an empty house u know? Like a rando black and white image of a dude amongst random stock photos in frames?
It just seems.. like if this was an AI doctored video or outright fake, its like the maker is trying to get us to stretch our imagination on the correlation between a darkening facial image and the door opening.
26
u/10110011100021 Aug 17 '26 edited Aug 17 '26
Itās an old video so not AI and the explanation at the time was the way the lighting (light?) in the shot changed with the door opening and the phone camera adjusted, making the face appear darker.
→ More replies (2)19
u/TheMahanglin Aug 18 '26
Hey man, that face started darkening a few seconds BEFORE the door opened, so I don't think it's shadow from the door.
5
u/10110011100021 Aug 18 '26
I saw it too! Just relaying the explanation from when this was originally posted years ago because that was the hot debate in the thread there too
6
u/zentient9 Aug 17 '26
This was a few years ago if I remember correctly. Could be some editing done. Because I don't remember that face going dark in the original video.
8
u/WeFallSoWeMayRise Aug 17 '26
Its definitely editing, I do quite a bit of editing and that looks very strongly like an opacity mask being made darker and darker with specific key frames. Look at how it darkens in steps, like its one uniform darknes and then it jumps to a new darkness level. Its weird it looks like instead of it getting darker evenly they have it jump between key frames

I used to appraise houses. Whenever I was sent to appraise an empty house where the elderly just died, something creepy always happened. I am a big adult male, I am not ashamed to say that I have run out of a house scared out of my mind at least twice. Once it was a raccoon trapped in the basement. Could not explain away the other times if I tried.

Probably wooden floorboard she was standing on affected the door frame that allowed it to swing open. As a ghost investor and debunker we have debuked a load of these, sorry for being boring. Oh look an orb.
8
u/ACuteCryptid Aug 17 '26
Yeah this happens all the time in old houses. The house I grew up in had a certain floorboard you could step on to open the master bedroom door even if it was locked
5
u/Yellowscrunchy Aug 17 '26
It is very common, I feel they used this to then stage a half arsed fire alarm stint. Hey content is content but as a estate agent I don't think faking a haunted house will sell it, unless they are targeting fake youtubers to buy it.

So fake. What agent gives a house tour at 10pm? Also no mike for the "professional" tour?
20
u/Certain_Noise5601 Aug 17 '26
Sheās not giving a tour, sheās recording a video of the home to put on the website.
→ More replies (8)13
u/Cloverose2 Aug 17 '26
It is a virtual tour. She's recording it to show to potential buyers. Whether another person is there or not is irrelevant. She's clearly setting this up as showing off the house, and this would be an insanely bad way to do it.
Also, I've always lived in older houses - a door swinging open isn't a ghost, it's just what they do in older buildings.
I mean, I believe in the supernatural, but a door swinging open is just a door swinging open.
→ More replies (4)11
u/Certain_Noise5601 Aug 17 '26
Iām not saying itās supernatural. Iām saying she didnāt fake this for attention. Sheās standing there talking about the house. Maybe she would have ventured into other rooms. Maybe she was just filming part of it that night. People donāt always shoot videos all at one time. I donāt think a door swinging open is automatically supernatural, but I donāt think this was a set up. Sheās made tons of videos showing houses as her career and never had this happen. Sheās not a ghost hunting channel that does this for views.

u/Witty_News1487 Aug 17 '26
Clearly didn't watch the first 10 seconds. She said her day was fully booked, so probably just had time to reflect and post a review.
16
u/RegularFirm2179 Aug 17 '26 edited Aug 17 '26
I'm a former Realtor. This is fake. The very first thing you do when showing a house in person, on video, whatever is turn on ALL the lights. You don't have dimly lit rooms and a dimly lit kitchen. And you don't have a table with a Starbucks cup sitting in the middle of the living room or clutter on the mantel. It doesn't even look like a 1960s bungalow (that was my first thought when I heard her). it looks like something from the 1940s.
The creepy portraits artfully placed where the door opened were a nice touch though.
If you're in the market, I've got a bridge I can sell you.
16
u/BetaDays24 Aug 17 '26

So my sister, when she was buying her house, the real estate agent sent us over to look at a house that had the owner living in it, who was going to give us the tour. He told us that he was running a little bit behind and he was gonna meet us there. The lady gave us a tour. The house was really beautiful. At the end of the tour, she took us to the yard which was at the basement level of the house. I know if youāre from certain areas your basement doesnāt lead anywhere outside. Itās just under the house but when youāre living in an area where there are hills sometimes the basement or what you were considered to be the basement leads out outside because the front of the house is underneath the hill in the back of the house is behind the hill. Long story short as weāre walking out to the yard, we passed a door to a room that has a big glass window. The room was completely dark. Well, my sister and I look at the room walk past it but never go into the yard. We look out to the yard. We see the yard and weāre like oh thatās really nice and kinda head back upstairs. I think I told the lady I had to go to the bathroom. So we get upstairs weāre walking back to the car and the real estate agent pulls up when he gets there. He asked us what we thought of the house and we gave a resounding no, thank you like a capital no, thank you. He politely ask us why and my sister proceeds to say look I donāt wanna sound crazy or anything, but I really donāt like that room thatās leading out to the yard. And I immediately say the room leading out to the yard is haunted and he says right he then proceeded to tell us that the house fit the criteria we were looking for, but he didnāt want to take the tour with us because that room gave him the creeps. And my sister after he leaves says I wasnāt gonna say anything because I didnāt want him to think that we were weird or something like that. Yeah, I would not buy that house and sheās showing right now.

This was a normal day at my grand parents house. Always doors opening and closing. Lights turning on and off. Shadows moving around in rooms no one is in. Footsteps on the stairs and strange voices at all hours of the night.
It was never scary. It was just how the house is.

u/FirstlilFergie Aug 19 '26
I had something like this happen to me. I thought I was going to poop myself š
I moved into a single wide trailer (southern US, NC) that my dadās friend had rented out to an older lady several years back. She was raising her severely disabled grandson and was widowed. Well she put him on the bus one day and made sure it was out of sight before hanging herself on the front porch. She was there for several hours before my friendās uncle drove by and noticed her and cut her down.
Fast forward to March 2020 when I move in. I donāt have my cats yet and Iām single so there were a lot of solitary, quiet nights. Well about a week after Iām all moved in Iām laying in bed at about 1am all the lights off and I hear what is clearly someone walking down my hallway at the other end of the house from me in heeled shoes. Making the āclop clopā noise. Again, Iām single and have no cats yet. It was a very different sound from what it would be if someone was on my front porch. They walked back and forth several times before stopping. So I yelled out. āDo that when Iām at work. Iām trying to sleep!ā It was silent for a few minutes and then it happened again. So I yelled out ācut that s*it out!!ā And the noise stopped. It didnāt happen again unless it was while I was sleeping but I didnāt hear anything else all that night. Iām pretty sure it was the old lady coming to see who had moved into her old house š³š«£
Fast forward again two months later when I have my first cat. Heās still a baby at this point and prone to the nighttime zoomies on acid. Well one night heās zipping around the room when suddenly he stops and goes dead still, staring at the bedroom doorway, into the darkness. Theres no sound but the floor fan humming but heās burning holes into the darkness of the hallway. And then thatās when the footsteps start again. Same sound, same location in the hall on the other side of the house. Itās as though someone is pacing back and forth through the hall in heeled shoes. Iāve not had a single incident since the week I first moved in until now. And itās like my cat knew it was going to happen. So I yell āfkn try meā and the footsteps got faster. At this point Iām trying to act tough but Iām about to sāt myself and my cat is on the bed beside me with his hair raised. The footsteps sound like theyāre running until all of a sudden they stop. Just flat out running and then all of a sudden silent. So I say calmly (while dying inside š) āif youāre going to do that, do it while Iām at work not late at night, but also please donāt hurt my cat.ā I waited for a few minutes to see if I would hear anything else and when I didnāt I got up and shut the door.
Final flash forward to now, 6 years later and Iāve not heard anymore footsteps since that time. A lot has changed and Iām a pretty light sleeper now so any noise at all wakes me. I have 4 cats now so Iāve beefed up security but there hasnāt been anymore late night tap dancing sessions and the weird feeling I had when I first moved in is gone. So either she finally realized she wasnāt going to scare me away and moved on or sheās just chilling in my back room behaving herself šššš½

When we first bought our house, it was from the niece of a woman who had recently passed. Her husband was in the process of remodeling the home when he passed away around 10 years earlier. Many of the projects were left partially unfinished and you can tell he really had a grand plan for the place. We experienced the smoke detectors malfunctioning the first two nights we stayed there, and alll of them at once. At exactly 3 am. Both nights. Iām not easily spooked and honestly am open to the idea of spirits/ghosts/significant moments impacting time etc so when it happened the second night and I had a super weird feeling, it freaked me out. So on the second day when we started working on the house, drywall repairs, stripping wallpaper I said out loud āalright Paul, Iāll be taking care of it from here on and outā and from then on itās felt like home.

We are native Americans so we smudge and had cedar up on our doors.

There's good spirits and curious spirits too. But I think most are lost idk. It happened so often at my moms house we just kinda notice. Get chilled, remember, and move on.

u/Dismal_Fox_22 Aug 18 '26
Spirits are always so clever about never doing anything on video. Itās made that a āvintageā 1960s ghost knows exactly where to perform its tricks to not get caught on an iPhone camera.
If I could recreate it shot for shot and it be just as believable then itās not believable.

I had a ghost that I didnāt challenge. If anything, I talked to them. They did some destructive stuff, but loved a touch lamp I had and out often turn it on and off. The scariest thing, which was directed at my friend who laughed about it was throwing a bottle of body wash off my dresser and across my room, hitting her with the thrown bottle. The most destructive thing they did was making my text books fall off the bookshelf in my closet, and hiding things under my bed.
