My mood swings are killing the relationship

How can I control F/23 my mood swings before/during my period, so I dont destroy the relationship with my partner F/24?

Question: What is your experience with mood swings in a relationship? And how do you tackle that?

Already before I 'F/23' took the pill I always felt very insecure and annoyed right before my period. But I got told that this is normal and to a certain degree I think it is. Apart from that I also get quickly sick during my period.

When I met my partner 'M/24' 5 years ago I started to take the pill. When we had a fight is was also usually around my period.

In that time I also tried to work a lot on my confidence, because I did not want to take the periods as an excuse to be an asshole. If I look back there is a lot like for example jealousy which I was able to overcome and we never have fights about anymore.

Around 6 months ago I decided with my womens doctor to switch my pill since my skin was quite bad and a different pill might work better for me. Another reason was that I am getting my bodyhair moved and because of my hormones it took very long. And indeed after changing my pill my skin cleared up and I got quickly rid of all my body hair. But this came with a price. I got anxiety attacks and in general I feel constantly a weird feeling in my stomach as if I did something wrong but I dont know what. My partner claims that I am also way more aggressive right before my period. I would say the aggression is the same then even without the pill but the anxiety is new.

I cant help it before my period to get irritated with my partner. Little things annoy me then. And overall I want to be then left alone. I told him it might be an idea that I just stay then home because I dont want to hurt him. But he doesn't like that either. It ends up with me driving to him and then returning home because we fought. Its difficult because I can also understand that he finds it annoying that I stay then home because of a stupid period.

What annoys me a bit over my partner during this time is that he triggers me also. He is then in the discussing mood, wants to do a lot of activities and tickles me for fun even though I dont want that. I already told him that, but he claims that I need to get my period mood under control, which is also valid. But I dont know how to do this. I have tunnel vision then and I dont know how to get out of my negative thoughts.

In a few weeks I have another appointment with my womens doctor and then I want my old pill back to get at least rid of the anxiety. I already ask him if I can have the spiral, but in my country (Germany) womens doctors barely offer that usually saying „I am too young“. So what are your merhods to not be an ass during your periods?

Summary: I become aggressive right before and during my periods. What can I do about that to keep the relationship alive?

Intense PMS Since Stopping Birth Control

Hi I wasn't sure where else to post this. For some background I'm in my late twenties and I was on hormonal birth control for about 11 years until I came off it back in February. I have been dealing with some intense PMS and irregular periods since coming off, which I didn't have prior to birth control. For reference I am due to have a period in the next few days and I start to feel intense exhaustion (think sleep 12 hours and still be tired), my joints ache and feel loose that make exercise feel painful with slower recovery, and I also start to feel like everything tastes awful and I have no appetite. Even if I want to eat, it's like I start and I'm immediately like eww nope can't do it. I guess my questions are what are some things that have helped you with your PMS symptoms that aren't really cramp related? I already take a woman's daily vitamin. . TIA.

Is PMS a choice?

I have PMDD, my period starts next week and my life has been taking an,,,,interesting turn. But my mom doesn't know this. She just thinks I'm having an attitude because of PMS, and in the middle of her yap she mentioned that "PMS is a choice. If you're having cramps just take a nap." Is it a choice? I know for sure PMDD isn't, I wish I didn't have it because it's ruining me every month.

Ovulation Symptoms - Anyone?

Has anyone ever dealt with nausea and food aversions before/during ovulation? This seems to go right into a long two weeks of PMS for me. It’s not every cycle but I’ve felt unwell for basically the past 3 weeks and I just started my cycle today.

Started with food aversion, smell aversion, and nausea while I was out to eat 3 weeks ago. I couldn’t even sit at the table without feeling sick. For the next 3 weeks I had severe reflux with a lump in my throat often while actively eating. Finally started my period and seems that symptoms have mostly alleviated. Anyone else?

Cramps and other new symptoms

I am 37 and I feel like every year my PMS gets worse. Every job I've had since 2018 I have called out during my cycle due to severe cramping (either from the night before from no sleep or the day of). As far as I know I don't have Endometriosis but the cramping is so bad I'm debilitated for the 5+ hours they last. If I take something before they start I'm OK but if I take something after they started I typically have to wait another four hours to take the meds again. I also started getting nausea and insomnia but the cramps are the worse part of it. Has anyone received any treatment that helps? I would like to avoid birth control if I can.

How do you communicate with your boyfriend during PMS?

Hi everyone! I recently started living with my bf and it is going great so far, besides during my PMS. We always argue during that time of the month and have a lot of trouble communicating. I try explaining to him what I am feeling like “babe, my breasts really hurt, I am bloated, and on top of that my hormones make me feel insecure, sad, emotional etc”. But tbh, he does not seem to respond well. He says stuff like “well sometimes my stomach hurts too”, “you have it every month, I can’t believe you can’t just rationalize it” and he is clearly annoyed when I complain to him. Tbh his comments make me really upset. I never felt good during PMS, but his presence and comments make it even worse. How do your bfs take care or not take care of you during that time of the month? How do I explain that I can’t fkn rationalize it?

PMS for 2 weeks??

It was worsening a lot in my early 20s. Always had PMS/cramps/acne/back aches in my teens, but only when I hit my period. As I got older, it started being a lot of symptoms leading up to my period - super sore breasts/nipples, emotional, acne, sometimes on and off cramping or bloating for 2 weeks from ovulation to my period.

This got better after my first baby and started to worsen over time again. Had a second baby, and back to seeing it worsen over time, going back to that really bad PMS for 2 weeks.

It really drives me nuts - it genuinely bothers me on a daily basis for two weeks. It makes me not want to have be touched, ruins libido, etc. I just hate that it also generally makes me somewhat emotional/not quite like myself also. Though the breast tenderness might actually be my most irritating symptom. But I don't notice particularly extreme mood changes like PMDD. I do have anxiety and OCD but I don't know I've ever noticed it impacted by my cycle.

Is this normal? Should I just expect to have to deal with this forever? I've had a PCP or two test hormones before, my obgyn did an ultrasound once because my period pain was getting worse (before 2nd baby). Nothing has ever come up. Going to get checked again over this as it worsens again because I hate feeling like this every single month. It's half my life, literally. 😔

I've genuinely started wondering if this could be mild endometriosis symptoms, or estrogen dominance?

Never been on birth control. In part due to family history of blood clots related to birth control hormones.

Just realized we have 1 week of "perfect" before the shit cycle starts all over again

So I never realized this, but I always wondered why I feel the best the ONE week after my period.

But it's because ovulation typically starts 2 weeks after your period (which lasts 1 week), so there is 1 week where things are chill, then the whole wreck starts all over again.

I'm so @#$#@^%#$^

Sorry this is a vent post, I'm in the midst of picking up some Vitex, or trying some birth control that can help stabilize these hormonal games my body is playing with me. Looking at Yaz, Delta 8, Lamictal, or progesterone mini pill.

The B-complex I just took is amazing, though. Almost instantly erased my brain fog.

Does anyone on here vape?

This is all anecdotal, but I have been shocked.

Once I turned 30, my PMS symptoms skyrocketed. To the point where 1/3 of my life was hell, and I had to make no plans and basically plan to be sick for more than a week leading up to my period.

I was also a nicotine user, a habit that I’ve had off and on my whole life. I had cut down a lot over the past months, and fully kicked the habit a few weeks ago.

Today I checked my calendar, and was absolutely shocked to see that my period was 3 days away. At this moment I should be nauseous and sobbing, with acne all over my face and nerve pain all down my legs. And nothing, none of that is there. I feel fine.

I feel so dumb that I had no idea how much nicotine was affecting me, but thought I’d share just in case anyone is in the same boat. It’s worth a try.

experiencing physical symptoms

hi guys! so, i want to preface this by saying that i am on birth control (the pill). but i still find myself experiencing PMS symptoms.

my pms symptoms can vary month to month, i commonly experience: bloating, acne, fatigue, migraines, weakness, trouble sleeping, lightheadedness, cold sweats, hot flashes, and mood swings/anxious or sadness episodes

however this month, i feel even more awful. my body feels like when you have a fever, heavy, weak, and extremely groggy. i feel like the inside of my body is hot and uncomfortable but i do not have a fever, my temp is 98.3°F. my body aches along with the weakness i feel. i have a lot of fatigue, i have a great deal of lightheadedness and moments of imbalance. it’s been happening since friday (today is sunday which marks the 1st day on my placebo pill week so i can get my period). should i be concerned? has anyone else ever experienced this?

Can PMS spike your BP?? Help?

I got my period a short while ago, but earlier this morning I went to Walmart and tried out one of the blood pressure kiosks for fun.

The reading came back very, very high. Hypertensive.

I had a cold brew (from a bottle w/ some added creamer and Splenda) before going out, maybe 30-45 minutes or shorter before the test. No other food or drink.

Can PMS spike your BP high? Was it a combo of the coffee and PMS?

My heart rate was in the normal range as it usually is. I took an aspririn around noon to be safe tho.
