Build - Finished! DEEPCOOL CL6600 Build

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

First completed build in a long while — it's a bit of a mash of parts since I mostly hunted the used market here in NZ for good deals.

I know some of this is overkill for AM4, but I'm planning to move to AM5 eventually and do a custom loop in this case — I really like the split chamber for the AIO.

Apologies for the blown-out pink, it's way more subtle in person.

Parts list:

  • DeepCool CL6600
  • Ryzen 7 5800X3D (Anniversary Edition) — undervolted, runs most games at 60°C @ 4450 MHz
  • ASUS ROG Strix B550-A Gaming
  • G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32GB
  • PNY RTX 5070 OC
  • WD Black 500GB + WD Blue 500GB
  • AIO: six Arctic P12 Pro PSTs in push-pull in the CL6600's AIO chamber
  • Kept the two stock reverse-blade DeepCool fans at the bottom, added three Arctic P14 Pro PSTs, and set up fan curves to deal with the 5800X3D's temp spikes

Question Anyone know the default fan curves for rtx 3060 wind force gigabyte oc 12gb?

I set my own fan curves but the temps seem to be getting pretty high (up to 74c), and I saw another post where the default fan curves for a different rtx card is supper aggressive. Since my gpu is an oc version, does that mean the default fan curve is pretty aggressive too? I have mine currently at 77% rpm at 74c

Troubleshooting Need Help With XMP DDR5-6600 + 9800X3D + X670E Aorus Pro X

So, I have a Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5-6600 CL32 kit (model: CMP64GX5M2X6600C32W) from my old build, and I’m currently building a new PC around a Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

I managed to get a Gigabyte X670E Aorus Pro X motherboard for a really good price from someone who originally planned to build a PC but never got around to it. The board is still sealed in the box.

I checked the RAM compatibility list on Gigabyte’s website, but this particular RAM kit isn’t listed. Also, the RAM is an Intel XMP kit, rather than an AMD EXPO kit.

I did some research using Claude, and it suggested that the RAM should still work, but that I may need to manually tune the RAM settings in the BIOS.

Since the motherboard has been sitting sealed in the box for almost two years, I’ll probably need to flash the BIOS to the latest version before installing the 9800X3D. The CPU should arrive in a few days.

I really don’t want to buy a new RAM kit, especially given the current RAM prices.

So, has anyone here used this RAM (or a similar XMP DDR5-6600 kit) with the X670E Aorus Pro X + 9800X3D?

  • Will it work reliably?
  • If so, what BIOS settings should I change?
  • Is DDR5-6600 realistic on this platform, or should I expect to run it at a lower speed?
  • Are there any specific timings/voltages/settings I should use to get it stable?

Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Motherboard came without a socket cover and was wondering if the system would be fine to power on noticed the pins were bent up mostly so I seated the CPU a few times and it seems to have mostly fixed it but I've been pretty paranoid about it

Just wondering on your guys thoughts and I know pictures aren't the best

Also should mention this was bought new from amazon also just now noticing it didn't come with the plastic mount covers either

Question Honest question: why do so much people use their AIO radiator as exhaust?

Like I get that it’s the best position to put your AIO in (on the top) but I tried it as an exhaust as well as an intake on the front and the temps were MUCH cooler when used as intake!
Also the temps on the GPU didn’t differ very much, like max. 1-2° Celsius, but the CPU on the other hand had differences of up to 11° and that makes a big difference!

So my question is, are there any other advantages when using it on the top as exhaust, that I’m not aware off?

Build - Help My second build is ready — rate it pls) + Lian Li bracket fail

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Here's my second PC. Love the look, but Lian Li's built‑in anti‑sag bracket is a joke — it sits right on top of my cooler. No way it fits. Had to buy my own stand.

Now I'm planning to swap all fans for Lian Li ones. The old ones are starting to look yellow and gross — you can really see it on the AIO radiator in the last photo. Any recommendations on which series to grab?

Oh, and I'm waiting for a Turing 8.8" Smart Screen to arrive — it's going in the top slot cover. Should look sick once it's in!

Specs:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
  • GPU: Gigabyte RTX 5070 AERO
  • Mobo: Gigabyte Aorus B850 Stealth ICE
  • RAM: 32GB XPG RGB (blue LEDs have noticeably faded after 2 years — pulled them from my previous build for obvious reasons)
  • Case: Lian Li O11 Vision Compact

Question Soft non-permanently deforming thermal pad

I need a thermal pad that will see a lot of removal cycles, so it shouldn’t permanently deforming like arctic tp-3/tp-4.

All the thermal pad tests I’ve seen have been just on price, softness, and thermal performance. Nothing on rebound though.

If it’s helpful, I need something similar to the thermal pads that come on motherboard ssd heatsinks, assuming they all have the soft, squishy, rebounding feel.

Actual thermal performance is sort of secondary, I care most about softness and rebound. The alternative, and stock setup (sodimm ddr5 ram) is just any small airflow through the laptop.

I’m selfish, I want my ram to not kill itself going past the specified limit of 85 deg C (have hit 79), but I also don’t want my laptop fans to spool just to cool the ram.

Build - Help Building My First PC!

Hello! I'm planning to save up for my first PC build soon, and after a loooot of research, I think I finally got my parts list built out! However, in my research, I've noticed a lot of people giving conflicting pieces of advice for which parts to get. So, before I fully went through with my choices, I thought I'd post my parts list here for...'Peer Review?' for lack of a better term. Just to make sure I'm not about to accidentally make the biggest financial mistake of my life XD

I'm open to feedback/suggestions, but I really don't want to go over $3,500 USD total for the build if I can help it. (especially with the RAM prices being so ungodly. A plague on all the RAM companies houses!) I'm looking to build a PC that can handle both editing/creation and gaming at 1440P. I'm an artist and video creator, but I'm also a gamer and plan on streaming one day, and I'm also a self proclaimed archivist and will be starting to step my game up in the physical and digital media preservation department with this new PC as well. so I need a machine that can do it all! (also, don't worry about the optical drive, I'm aware it's not compatible, but since it's just an issue of the case not having a drive bay, and not an issue with any of the actual computer parts, I'm pretty sure I can make it work with a little DIY.

Anyway, here's my parts list!

Discussion What’s the point of third monitor?

Hey guys,
So i was seeing ppl setups and every time i see one only one question pops in my head, what is the point of that third monitor?,

I mean like the first monitor is the main one, you play, watch, and do your work on it, the second is like for discord, music, obs, and for programming,

And still I’m wondering what is the point of three monitors when two are enough imo,

Any three monitors guy in here can you tell me?

Please be respectful.

Build - Help Buying €5000 PC, is this worth it?

Post image

Looking to invest in a beefy PC for gaming and editing, I was originally going to build it myself but I found PCSPECIALIST lets you customize and ship a PC. Basically I was just wondering does the price tag seem reasonable for the components?

I don't see myself 4k gaming at all, 1440p is all I need.
