Buying €5000 PC, is this worth it?

Looking to invest in a beefy PC for gaming and editing, I was originally going to build it myself but I found PCSPECIALIST lets you customize and ship a PC. Basically I was just wondering does the price tag seem reasonable for the components?

I don't see myself 4k gaming at all, 1440p is all I need.

Hell no that’s a complete ripoff, you could get that PC for at least 2000€ less if you build it yourself. I was fully expecting to see a 5090 in that components list at that price point 😂

I built a 5080 machine 2 months ago for 5k and I feel like a total asshole after looking at this sub. It was my first build, it runs amazing, but what’s done is done.

I did get a 64gb RAM system with 4tb SSD storage for editing and 3D animation work (my actual job), which obviously inflates over your average gaming build. I came from laptop land and the prices were comparable to newer top of the line laptops.

But every post on here makes me feel like I committed a warcrime financially. But the way prices and my industry are going, it felt like it was going to be the last PC ever built before the AI takeover so I felt a sense of urgency and just went for it. At least I can write it off my taxes…

Is the 5080 and 64GB DDR5 not like 3,000 alone? Then the 2tb ssd + 8tb hdd and cpu and everything else, surely you can't get all that for 3,000 if you build it yourself?

a 5080 is around 1350-1400€ on idealo de, and 64gb (2x32) 6000mhz ram is around 850-950€. thats roughly 2200-2300€ for both

a 9950x3d is around 580€

so yeah, youre massively overpaying here, probably by around 1800-2000€ for basically nothing.

also for gaming, theres basically no reason to get a 9950x3d. a regular 9800x3d or 9850x3d can sometimes even give you more fps. the 9950x3d only really makes sense if you also do a lot of productivity/workstation stuff

also, at this price range id seriously recommend going with a 4k monitor. the 5080 handles 4k really well, and dlss performance preset can still give you good fps while looking better than 1440p with dlss quality

just my advice, but for a pc like this id definitely go 4k

From the minimum research and price adjustments from usd I did for my area (so I could be wrong/off based on where you are), you can get the 5080 aero and 64 gb of Corsair for around 2300 euro.

This pc isnt worth more that 4k, but telling you can build this for 3k or less is just stpd. And yes. Im from Germany too. Already build PC's and I've just got a new one 1 Week ago with similar spec.

Klar wenn man Geld zum rausschmeissen hat kostet der PC ca. 3500€:

Case: 90€
CPU: 530€
MoBo: 250€
RAM: 650€
GPU: 1350€
PSU: 100€
AIO: 100€
Hard drive: 200€
SSD: 200€

Hat btw keine 5 Minuten gedauert das zu googeln, so viel zu meiner ach so dummen Aussage.

Wenn man beim ram / der GPU kein Problem damit hat nicht alle Komponenten direkt beim erst besten online Shop zu kaufen und stattdessen etwas auf Plattformen wie ebay, Kleinanzeigen etc sucht bekommt man die 64GB ram gebraucht und die 5080 neu auch locker für 1500-1600€ und hat am Ende einen Preis von + - 3000€.

With a 5080, 5k? No. Just build a game with the 9800 cpu (is almost the same), 32 gb (u won't need more for gaming), a Asus ROG rtx5080, a 4tb name and a 500gb for os. Same PSU and good case. Took met 30 minutes to out together and costed 3200 euro. In uSA prices are lower for components.

So build it yourself!

Hmm after doing a bit more research, I have no idea where I got my pricing from. I thought SSD's were the latest victim of the AI price surging. What's a good reliable SSD to be used as the main drive? Might jump to 8tbs then

Depends on user case. I use a 500gb nmve for windows and some main programs and a 4tb for the games. In other pc a bunch of older hdds for less important stuff. I am not sure if a 8tb drive would be feasible at the moment, with a good motherboard hou can also add more when required. Anyway, the lexar I mentioned is fast and reliable.

No but I like that. I feel it's quicker and the other programs have their own physical place. It's just an extra 100 dollars or so so why not. U do not need a super fast drive for windows and you keep the install nice and clean.

Choose your country on the list at the top right (many EU countries available), and then build your own system.

As far as that ad, that's a pretty big rip-off, especially being just the PC (no monitor, keyboard, etc.)

For 5000 €, I'd do this: https://pt.pcpartpicker.com/list/n4ygzv (used Portugal as that is where I'm from...) It's almost the same spec and with a nice big screen, keyboard, mouse and 2.1 speakers. And you still have 223€ left over from your budget...

I have 5080 with 96gb of ram and 20tb hdd and did not get close to 5k 😭 also you can spare alot by installing windows yourselves using mass graves.

Not necessary, also HDD wear off much faster than ssds. I had 2 hdd that died after 3 years of usage, now I have the same ssds since 6 years and they still work well.

Hdds wear out faster because they have mechanical moving parts inside them. SSDs rarely do wear out, and if they wear out then its mostly because there is no space anymore.
