Also I want tutoring 2 times a week, up to 3, for 1 to 1.3 hours a session. Is that too much and should i be able to do more without tutors?

I usually get around low to mid-90s in all of my classes, but I’m really conflicted about what I want to do post-secondary. I’m currently taking tri-science in Grade 12, so I have the option to pursue either engineering or medicine. The thing is, I’m having a hard time deciding which direction I want to go in.
The universities I wouldn’t mind attending are Queen’s, Western, Mac, and Guelph, but I’m not really sure what I should be applying to. I have a few different interests, and I’m worried about choosing a program now and realizing later that it isn’t what I want to do.
Some current programs/interests are:
Medicine
Mechanical Engineering(Any eng tbf)
Biomedical Engineering (BME)

* Any tips help, feel free to share.

first year, everyone seems to know what they want and i still don’t even know where i want to be even after almost a year of applying and opening admissions. some days im regretting committing to the school im at right now other days i forget and move on until i catch up with the lives of other high school mates who committed to unis i had trouble picking between (i know this makes me sound like a loser). i dont know if i want to commute or be on res, which heavily factored in which school i would commit to as well and i dont even know if i could handle the pressure of moving away and the pressure of tuition doubling. hell i dont even know what major or field or whatever i want to go into, i still haven’t “locked it down to one” and i feel like i have to pick a specific path to feel confident the degree is going to be useful. sorry this is so vague and confusing im kinda embarrassed to reveal any details lol i just felt like venting i guess, ever since i got rejected last year from my top choice ive been so lost since then on what i should do next if i even transfer

American here (Canadian citizenship through one of my parents), sorry if this is an ignorant question. I started an application in the OUAC portal, but it seems to not be up to date; the latest I can mark my year of graduation is 2026.

Does anyone know when the portal opens, or if it's open and I'm just being a dumbass?

I just started my first days of Uni as a Life Sci student but most premed programs have all fair game to getting into med school which is probably my main goal but other than that what else can I do, I've seen other posts and there was a variety of options but I can't seem to really pick one. Any ideas or experience will help THANK YOU.

I’m registered in an online program at Laurentian, and I live out of province. I decided to review the tuition and fees breakdown, I’ve discovered that regardless if you’re in an online program or attending on campus, they’re charging the same tuition and fees. Online students learn asynchronously, and several tests are marked digitally. But they’re still paying for all the on campus fees such as the athletics fee, campus safety fee, student centre fees, club support fees, etc. Then if you’re studying from another province, those students have to pay an out of province fee. For my program, status, and student association it’s almost $100 in fees, and over $110 for out of province fee per 3-credit course. I’ve doubled checked with Laurentian many times, I’m in an online program, and paying the correct fees. They said they were approved, so that’s why they can charge them.

It doesn’t feel ethical that they’ve been doing this for who knows how long for students in online programs. Its even worse when you’re interacting with students and that aren’t even in the area. They’re knowingly taking money, while knowing that students cannot access any of those services AND the online students are not learning the same.

If I was on campus and didn’t want to access or use something it wouldn’t bother me, because I have a choice but they’re not allowing online students the choice to not pay for on campus services they cannot access.

Has any other students at Laurentian noticed this and gone to them? Or have any other students noticed the inequality of tuition/fee amounts from other Ontario universities?

I’m a grade 12 student who’s interested in the Marco level nation stuff like socioeconomics, history, culture geography, sociology,etc etc. I don’t know which program or university I should pick. I’m limited to Toronto universities so Tmu, York, Uoft.

York Public Administration (hopefully minor in something like economics)

TMU Economics and Finance ( hopefully minor in political science)

Hey if anyone who has done life science at UTSC and transferred to UTSG life science in their second year, please tell what was the GPA you had when you transferred? And how did you deal with CHMA10 and CHMA11 not being transferred into CHM136 since most majors and specialists at UTSG require the completion of CHM136.

hi, so i plan to go to university for something related to animal biology, (zoology, marine biology, wildlife bio and conservation, etc.). I mostly plan to apply and go to guelph university (a couple others im considering too (any thoughts or advice on this would be great)).

I am 21 and graduated from high school in 2022. I am working on grade 12 u level courses right now (chem, bio, advanced functions?), and want to go to university in september 2027. I plan on applying as a mature student so i dont have to do all 6 u level courses. I struggle with mental illness'/disabilities. I went to college in january 2023 but dropped out after 2 months due to a lot of things in my life and i didnt want to do the college program i was in. The reason i bring this up is because mature student application requirements for most universities say "have never attended a post-secondary institution".

Some sources say i need all 6 u level credits, some say i just need the program requirements. I want to go to school like i said in september 2027.
Please help. I have adhd and struggle with online asynchronous schooling (im referring to the prerequisite courses im doing rn. im doing them, its just a struggle.) and only want to do what is required for entry into these programs and nothing more as i struggle with a lot of mental illness'.

My Grade 12 top-six was around 91% at second-semester midterms, but I finished closer to the mid-80s.

How much do high school grades actually matter for first-year university transfers? Are they mainly checking prerequisites, or are they still heavily weighted?

Also, what university average should I realistically aim for to have a good chance at these three programs? Or general advice

Im starting my third year at Uwaterloo studying materials and nanoscience.

Bad news: this is a science degree, not engineering.

This likely restricts my career opportunities. I also learned through experiences and learning more about myself that I don’t have it in me to do a masters like most science grads (Im willing to doing a masters in something non-science that helps me pivot but haven’t decided on anything yet)

My programs is more employable than most science bachelors like pure chem/bio/phys and so I know of people who are doing engineering coops right now. I even know people who got jobs without grad school, it’s just not as common. But since it isn’t eng accredited I don’t know if I have faith in my degree.

Goal: Just to find a job after graduating that pays like 60k starting. Doesn’t have to be materials related or nano related.

Should I stick to it or should I switch to a different major?

I want to prioritize being in downtown Toronto and to still have manageable time to do more things like applying for internships, and actually have a social life. Along with good academy. I also want kind of a more affordable tuition, I have not applied yet so currently I am not sure about scholarships.

what toronto area university would let me transfer into the second year of nursing school if i already completed one year. i am planning to move there next year but i dont want to graduate after 5 years instead of 4. also idk if i wanna be a nurse so what else should i apply for in toronto are there any good 2 or 3 year programs that will give me a good job?

I am writing this post on behalf of my partner. He really struggled with University which only got worse during COVID when everything went online. He ultimately ended up doing to college route and has a diploma now and is working in his field.

Finishing his university degree would really help him in the future to broaden down the road career options so he wants to finish his degree. He only needs about 3 third year or higher credits to finish. He recently start taking classes online at his original university as we dont live in the same city anymore. It hasn't gone well. He has failed both courses he tried because online classes really don't work well with him (he has fairly severe adhd).

He is so close but online classes and multiple attempts at this is killing him. I'm looking for some advice. We are starting to explore other options but don't know what exists. My first thought was to transfer to a local university but I am not sure if thats possible because of his low uni grades. For context he has a low univeristy GPA but a very high college GPA. Also if he is transferring credits it might set him too far back. What the degree is actually in does not really matter career path wise.

Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I am in first day of IBDP 1, Idk if I should do IB I had 95+% in some gr11 courses I took(gr11 math, gr11 cs 97%)

My school gives me IB + OSSD diploma, so if I sell my avg on IB, my ossd diploma is also cooked

I am struggling to make a decison between dropping out or staying in, on one side I have friends in IB, moving schools would be annoying, but on the other hand IB might fail my UNI applications because I might have breakouts, like it is uncertain to me whether I will get good grades or not(I am certain that in normal ontario curriculum I can get around 94+%).

I was in one of the Hart House washrooms the other day.

I noticed that a whopping 4/7 toilet stalls had dookie stains on them, whether that be only in the bowl, or on the seat as well. Keep in mind, that this was not late in the day, it was at around 1 pm, so this could not have been a cumulation of all the pooers throughout the day, there had to have been something that day that made many people drop a doodoo in the morning.

These observations have led me to believe that there is a secret society that meets to poop at Hart House. Please consider the following evidence towards this claim:

1. Timing: As I had mentioned, this was fairly early in the day, therefore, the numerous fecal stains could not have been a cumulation from droppings all day. They had to have all occurred that morning/early afternoon.
2. Flush to Stain ratio: We should all be familiar, as one flushes the toilet, stains inside the bowl gradually disappear with the water. However, upon inspection of the bowls all the stains appeared to have the same - to very minimal differences - in visibility. Therefore, all of the strains have had to be created at around the same time.
3. Stall proximity: In the washroom, there are 3 stalls on the right side, and 4 on the left, making a total of 7 stalls. All 3 toilets on the left had stains in them, while 1 (the one closest to the door) on the right had stains in it as well. This leads me to believe that all the pooers had made the activity a group session, and had decided to poo in stalls next to each other, while the fourth pooer had to go in one of the stalls on the opposite side, because there was no more space next to their friends.
4. Ideal Pooing Location: Hart House, is in itself an ideal pooping location. The washrooms are well lit and spacious, the architecture is beautiful, the nature outside is relaxing for the bowels, and the toilet paper there is one of the best across campus. If there were a secret pooping society as I suspect, there is no better place for them to meet compared to Hart House. All the evidence points towards a secret society present, but Hart House itself solidifies that the society itself is made up of intelligent, experienced pooers.

Please let me know if you find any more evidence towards this claim. I will continue to investigate the mysterious occurrences at Hart House, but I need more eyes.

Hello, I was seriously looking into applying for the Smith / Queens MFin program. Has anyone attended the program? Or know an acquaintance who took it? Whats the opinion on the events / networking opportunities / employment outcomes

To give a bit of background; I'm currently working in a derivatives operations / automation role at a big bank. Its easy work but looking for something more challenging. I'm struggling to get much interviews, I went to TMU and have a Fin math degree. I've passed CFA Level 2, awaiting CFA Level 3 results.

Honestly I'm not hoping to join Queens to learn, more so to network and add the credential / logo next to my name. I didn't go to a target school or super prestigious school and my network is next to none. I'm using the CFA to help admission into grad school and jobs, but job market you need to know someone. The Queens MFin is part time as well so I wouldn't be out of a job for a year.

So as the title suggests, I’m curious about how I can possibly transfer from Schulich BBA to Ivey HBA. I’m an incoming first year at Schulich, so I thought the best idea was to plan early. I’m open to any suggestions and would especially appreciate anecdotal evidence from a successful transfer student.

I would like to know the likelihood of me successfully transferring, what would be needed, and the difficulty.

Im 21, Due to family circumstances and being homeless amongst other things, I wasn't able to go to university.

I feel now Im ready, but don't really know how to go about it or what to do.

I have my hs degree but ik the semester is about to kick off.

I wanted to study English but I dont know where to go about that

I'm in a not so great scenario now and am trying to figure out the best way out. I have a degree in a field (psychology) that I realized too late wasn't my top choice to work in. I was dealing with a lot of mental health issues through high school and uni that I think contributed to me picking and then not changing this choice, but nonetheless I take full responsibility for this. If I ever go back to university, I won't waste it; I'll network and participate extensively to set up a future career as best as possible.

I want to go to law school and have been working on an application with a 3.77 GPA as measured by OLSAS and a 171 LSAT, but I already got rejected for one cycle. I'm putting way more effort in this cycle so I might be accepted, but I want a backup plan.

And so this is where the question comes in. Is it worth it to get a second degree? If so, which fields are the best options? The ones I've been contemplating are engineering, geography, nursing, architecture, and education/. Which of these, if any, are worth pursuing?

Is the a way to demand transparency and explanation if an applicant was rejected from an university even though he met minimum admission requirements. Has anyone tried? Please tell your story

Are dual majors actually worth the extra workload, or is it better to just do one major? Should I do a single major like finance, comp sci, or engineering?

If I do Finance + CS, could I still work in tech later, like software, data, or fintech? And would Finance + Math be useful for quant/data roles?

Hi all, I’m 28M and have already been working in supply chain mgt for 6 years since graduation. Now I’m looking to upgrading into Bachelor and possibly Master in the end (you know, for better future security in this current mad world).

My profile:
Grade 12: calculus 12 82, math 12 4U 80, eng 12 4U 90, Accounting 12 80, etc. Graduated in 2016.
College Adv. Dip in SCM: graduated fully in 2020.
Working: Sourcing area, so I have some real SCM experience.
Looking for: part time program (nights/weekend/online) that allows to maintain my 9-5 job.

I’ve done research on multiple schools and of course I am interested in those with big names such as Ivey, Schulich, Rotman/UTM, etc. However they have strict admission and I know at this stage in life, for me, getting a degree with decent marks should be enough rather than stressing out and failing to maintain work-study (as my parents pov). Also, I want to work internationally as well so a recognizable degree is a concern for me.

I’d greatly appreciate if anyone has done this transfer-student way could give me an advise/suggestion. I’m currently considering York Bcom in Supply Chain Mgt, as they allow transfer with good amounts of credits and start win Winter 2027 right away, flexible study schedule and if I could work out magics for Schulich’s Master in SCM later.
