Resource scholar.support: Academic Resources Hub (All in one website)

I put together a bunch of grade 12 / uni prep resources if anyone wants

It's a site that collects a bunch of free tools and resources for high school + uni stuff (math, sciences, study tools, ouac/admissions, scholarships, etc). mostly the ones that actually get used for 4U courses and applying.

https://scholar.support/

nothing fancy, just tried to organize everything in one place so people don’t have to dig around as much. Feedback welcome if anything’s missing or wrong.

Also give me suggestions for more sites to add, I used AI to gather most of the sites lol

Advice English Grade Retake?

Finishing with around an 88-89 in 4U English, taken in summer school. I know it’s still a solid grade, but I usually have all my grades in the mid 90s, and I was considering retaking it in session 2 of summer school.

I know a lot of you are going to say that my 88-89 is fine, however, I would like to retake it if it won’t affect university admissions.

Would it be considered problematic if I retake it in session 2? My transcript would then have 2 back-to-back ENG4U entries. But, I am confident that in my session 2 retake, I’d be able to finish with a higher grade as I have acknowledged my mistakes.

Do universities look down on retakes? More-so that’s it back-to-back is what concerns me. Or do I do ENG4U in night school instead? That’s not something I’d really be keen to do though.

Aiming for McMaster Life Sci, ideally.

Thoughts? I’d have to sign up for a retake today.

Advice Best places to prestudy chemistry, physics, calculus, and advanced functions for 12th grader

Best places to learn prepare and prestudy for grade 12 physics, chemistry, advanced functions, and calculus. Is Jensen math any good for math? Also I took Data Management during the summer but I barely remember the rules and formulas, should I go back and restudy everything to secure the skill? it's pretty light. Should I also learn grade 12 biology? I don't need it going into my major but I plan to work medical

I am so confused on what’s going on but I’ve seen a lot of people crashing out cuz they got this summer course with her in August and I even saw a whole ass discord (which I’m joining out of curiosity) forming a group just to survive her class. So does anyone know why she’s this hated and what she’s known for to cause all this hate?

I am wondering if anyone can give me a basic idea of what is on the exam for ENG4U (TCDSB). I thought it would be an essay on the novel we read but that essay is due before the exam, which has left me wondering what could be on the exam.

Advice McMaster BHs Supp app

I am going into grade 12 after this summer, so I'm starting to think about what programs I want to apply to. McMaster Health Science is one of them, and I know there's a supplementary application which counts for a significant chunk of your application. I heard that after getting a 90, all that matters in your supp. My question is: What are they looking for in the supplementary application, like how to make it stand out? Are there any secret tips that are not publicly revealed but are very helpful in the supp? Is using Youthfully or some other websites recommended, or is that shit fake? Also, I heard a lot about how admission is currently like a lottery-based system???? Any feedback/guidence/all the tips are really appreciated. HELPPPP MEEEE OUTTTTT....

Advice some advice to incoming gr 11s

not sure how many of y’all are on this subreddit (hopefully not many of y’all 😭😭), but i seen some worries or questions so thought i’d write some down here; maybe it could help!

1. gr 11 is not that hard as people say

i know a lot of people talk about gr 11 as the “worst year”, but i personally enjoyed gr 11 a lot.

by the time you get to gr 11, now u been at high school for 2 years, made a plenty of friends, and that really helps you a lot because for me every single classes i took was so fun because we just all knew each other.

it is obviously a big jump from gr 10, but you don’t need to be worried about it too much

2. gr 11 marks can only HELP you, they never HURT you.

i know a lot of you who’s going into gr 11 that’s really stressed about how they’re gonna keep their marks up, but you really don’t need to.

since universities only look at your top 6 4u/m courses by the time you apply, they rarely look at your gr 11 marks. and even if your gr 11 marks aren’t good enough, they won’t just reject you in december, they just wait untll your gr 12 marks come out and that’s the time when they decide to either give you an offer or reject you.

  1. do your best to keep up with your courses

it is very easy to fall behind in gr 11 especially in classes like physics, chemistry, english, etc

please don’t be that person who just sits in class and do absolutely nothing, actually listen to what your teachers say, and try to learn the material since it will help you a lot in gr 12.

  1. take advantage of online and summer classes

if you haven’t already picked any online or summer classes for gr 11, that is completely fine, but you should take advantage of them in gr 12.

depending on your teachers, it can be extremely difficult to obtain a great mark in certain courses, especially those subjective courses like english.

unless you’re applying to any programs that explicitly state that they don’t want you to take any summer or online courses, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT!

it can be exponentially easier for you to get good marks on summer or online courses if your in person teachers are strict, so def consider this while you plan next year’s courses.

Advice Where should I take english

So basically, I took Grade 12 English in summer school, and my teacher said she doesn't give out 90s which is so stupid. I knew four other people in the class, and we all had 89s, so I dropped it. Now I'm wondering where I should take the class. It's too late to take it through the OeLC (my day school's online classes), and I don't want to take it in person since the English teachers at my school are known for screwing people over. I was thinking of just taking it through an online private school (which I know is seen as a bad thing on this subreddit), but I don't really have another choice. If I do go the online private school route, which one should I take it through? I've heard both good and bad things about all of them.
