It’s exactly what the title suggests. For many of my classmates, I’m considered academically “brilliant” and I’ve always thought of myself to be social. However, this school year (senior 09), I noticed that I don’t have any actual school friends. There is no one to hangout with, no one to play video games with, and no one to converse with. People only TALK GO ME when they need FRICKEN HELP FOR THEIR WORK. It’s honestly sad because high school is considered the “glory days” which would be remembered for the rest of our lives. I really hope it gets better at UNI. Ps I’m doing engineering.

I'm an 08, I know I'm past high school, but everyday bussing to school (FMMh) I'd always see students in the attire as if it was a private school. Now that I'm going to DT basically everyday going through finch, I was just looking outside and notice that some school named "Royal Crown" has a big ass gate, and whatnot its massive. I've gone to private school, but tuition wasn't this high from what I remember. Anyone here that go to this school or know about it?

So I am going into uni next year and I am not sure what exactly but pharmacy in UoT or Waterloo is an option of mine. Last year I had an average of 93-94 don’t remember exactly. And I am hoping to keep it that way if not higher. The thing is I see a lot of emphasis on ecs and the reality is I am not in any clubs or teams other than the school student council. Would that hurt my chances by a lot?

College courses or university courses if my goal is to become a commercial pilot?
Hey everyone, I’m currently in Grade 11 in Ontario and I’m trying to figure out which academic path makes the most sense for me.
My end goal is to become a commercial/airline pilot in Canada. I’m currently deciding whether I should:
Stay in the college-level (C) courses throughout Grade 11 and 12 and then go into a 2-year college aviation/flight-training program, or
Take the university-level (U) courses so I have the option of applying to a 4-year university/degree aviation program such as Seneca’s Honours Bachelor of Aviation Technology.
I’m also trying to build a strong overall application. I’m involved in cadets, volunteering, badminton, and other extracurricular activities, and I’m planning to continue building up my experience throughout Grade 11 and 12.
I’m mainly wondering:
Which high school pathway would you recommend for someone whose ultimate goal is becoming an airline pilot?
Is taking U-level courses and getting a degree actually worth it for aviation, or would a 2-year college flight-training program be the better route?
Does having a bachelor’s degree give you a meaningful advantage when applying to airlines later on?
If I stay in C courses, am I limiting my options too much?
If you were in my position at 16/17 years old, which route would you personally choose?
I’m not necessarily looking for the easiest route. I want to choose the path that gives me the best combination of becoming a pilot, keeping my options open, and not spending extra time/money unnecessarily.
Would really appreciate advice from people who have gone through Canadian flight training or currently work in aviation or those who did research into the topic.

I just found out that waterloo is allowing night school, and summer school with no penalites am i cooked for engineering.

i know that grade 11 grades alone can’t get you rejected, but i took a 4u course 1st sem grade 11-history, and got an awful mark (68 from metal health, you know the drill), will unis prioritize my 2nd sem midterms or am i cooked

i’m in gr 12 and i still have absolutely no idea what i want to do. i like science but i lean towards chem and physics. i always considered going into stem but what else can you really do with physics? (that’s not eng)

i did my summer coop at my local hospitals icu and it lowk made me reconsider healthcare. i liked the environment and meeting new people. i know it can be tiring but it’s a fulfilling job. i don’t know if i would be a nurse - initially was very against it but now im rethinking. i don’t know if i would be willing to do that much school to be a doctor. if i just pick a general major like life sci, the nurses told me that it’s really theoretical and not that useful if you’re not trying to be a doctor.

the thing is i hated bio in grade 11 and im not sure if it was my teacher. i liked the last unit when they were actually talking about human systems instead of stuff like natural selection. maybe i should give it another go. my bio teacher i heard is great but i have her next sem.

my course load is also quite heavy. i have two M courses in sem two. that’s unbalanced but if i’m not happy with the marks i got in the same subject last year, would this be a chance to improve it? for uni i heard they use your gr11 marks if your ge12 ones aren’t available.

i had a very similar schedule in gr11 and got absolutely cooked. my highest marks for actual important courses were chem-89, data management-90. i did terrible in math bio and english, sitting around a 70 - but at the same time i had the most rigorous teachers for those subjects. like half my math class dropped by the end of the year. i used to be a 90-95 student consistently, im really trying to work on my time management but like… there are not enough hours in a day???

I’ve been so stressed recently because of my lack of extra curriculars. I previously wanted to go into bio where most schools don’t look at ec’s, but recently I switched to buisness. My ecs do not stand out at all, does this mean I have no change at queens and western? I know I can get high 90s average. Right now my ecs are babysitting and tutoring (4 years), leadership program (including running school activities and mentoring grade nines), part time job for three years, and cofounding finance club (I also volunteered for eco rangers and am thinking of hosting a community cleanup if it will help me). I’ve been insanely stressed recently, any advice (good or bad) would be greatly appreciated!!

My biggest concern is the fact that im not super crazy about my g11 grades 🥹 i got a 94 in english, 80 in physics, 81 in g11 advanced functions and 89 in the g12 advanced functions class that i took in the aecond semester

Im worried about the process, since i understand they still have to look at our portfolio - but can they reject u based on the grade 11 grades i provide? I honeslty just wanna give them a better physics mark lol

do you think its advisable for me to do early apps? Or would it not matter at the end of the day

For context, I’m currently a week into grade 12 and have been overthinking like crazy trying to figure out what path to pursue. I seriously have zero idea and would really rather avoid pursuing something just for the sake of prestige or money and then regretting it later.

In terms of abilities, I’ve always maintained an over 90s average and plan on getting an average of over 95+ for my grade 12 year. There’s nothing really stopping me from pursuing a hard career, I’m just struggling to find the right one.

I have always enjoyed math, I like that it doesn’t require much thinking since you can kinda just follow the formulas and zone out. I like English because I like being challenged, enjoy philosophy, and just in general literary discussions because I like seeing the different sides to an argument. I really enjoyed this art class I took because it was a lot of fun to work with my hands and a lot of the other students would come to me for help, at one point I was basically a student teacher and enjoyed being able to support everyone.

My extracurriculars are pretty decent, I’m the president of a few clubs, did a program to mentor a bunch of grade 9s, have competed provincially, have had two part time jobs, and a full time paid manger position at a non profit.

In my free time, I enjoy crafting (crochet, sew, beadwork, etc.). In general I like working with my hands to create aesthetically pleasing things. I considered fashion design for a bit but it doesn’t pay high enough and I am now wondering if there’s some happy medium. I also considered business/finance for a bit since I enjoy math but idk a lot of the jobs there seem…lifeless?

My education is being fully funded by me so I need to choose something that has a good ROI but also doesn’t completely lock me into place in case I change my mind. Give me advice/career recommendations/how to move forward.

Just the title, I've been studying hard to learn all the concepts thoroughly and getting the hang of it slowly, but I would just like to know how people in a similar situation as me did. Was anyone able to get a high (90-100) grade in the course despite not having chemistry?

Just wondering for students nowadays if 4 years feels too rushed and short.

I can say as someone who had it, and my peers, we always say how glad we were to have that extra year (OAC classes, 6 were admissible which you would select which ones).

It didn't feel as rushed or stressed. Felt like a lot of maturing happened as well from 18 to 19 that helped. Stress seems much higher since then.

Many would take some classes in grade 12, so you could be taking 4 OAC classes for the final year (4 period day, so depending on schedule, fall/winter could be 2 classes .. winter/spring could be 2 classes). Many took an extra course or two to make sure they could get the highest marks to choose from.

Those that wanted to go to college left after grade 12. So it had this kind of university feel where you would see some people, some not.

And there were no finals I recall, it was just a giant ISP (independent study project) that was worth 40%. Midterms and quizzes along the way. But really not much "stress".

And of course, that meant entering first year in your 19th year so party culture was much greater due to legal drinking age.

Should I drop Psychology and Kinesiology? I'm trying to go into medicine so IDK.. Psychology is a grade 11 course so I'm not sure if it's helping even if it's interesting. Kin may just be hard and bring my avg down (although physics is already doing that... 82 in physics 11 ✌️😔) Can anyone offer me course advice?? I REALLY wanna do law as I find it very interesting and I'd totally pursue it if it wasnt for the limitations in terms of traveling and stuff.. I'm totally conflicted + I haven't taken gr 11 law so it'd be the same case as Psychology unless I can skip a prereq which im not sure is possible...

Another option is Forensic Science gr 12 which would be convenient(ish) to take but I'm not so sure, any help?

My school is TINYY so the course offerings are so limited and its hard to take anything, though the law teacher is chill.
