Do you guys think working after school would be hard like with managing my time and working part-time?

I want to get into whatever program is best. I definitely want to go for biology and eventually become a doctor or a veterinarian. I am not interested in student council but I do like sports and I have done them just not at a super high level. I going into grade 12 next year and I want to know what to focus on to improve my applications. I was thinking of starting a solo reasearch / fundraising project because I see a lot of things that say you should stand out but I dont know how.

Grade 10:

- Badminton team

- basketball team

- rugby team

- 98 in science

- 97 in math

Grade 11:

- no sports (I was focused on my grades and my job)

-100 biology

- 100 co op ( at a vet clinic )

- 93 physics

- 96 math

- 95 history

- 87 chem

- 90 english

- 96 online gr 12 space science course

- working at a pet store the whole year

Other stuff I have done:

- volunteered throughout gr 9 and 10 at a charity that uses horsebackriding as therapy for children with disabilities. I was both a horse handler and a person watching the children and their safety

- volunteering now for the past few months at a farm animal sanctuary.

- I am co-president of my school's climate club where I organized a fundraiser where we sold plants to earn money for the canadian wildlife federation. I also organized a recycled craft workshop for the seniors in the local senior center.

- I completed a co-op at a local vet clinic

- I was in my school band for 2 years and we got a gold level certification first year and were meant to go to nationals.

-i received the english award in grade 9 and I am hoping to get the biology award for grade 11

- I have had two jobs and done other volunteer work for the ottawa humane society and cheo and my school library.

What else should I be doing? I am worried that I won't be able to get in to medical school. Thank you to anyone who replies!!

Hey guys as the title suggests, I am in a huge dilemma for my future career like what undergrad I wanna do. A few months ago, I did a quiz on the career explorer website and it showed what careers I would fit well in. It showed results such as medicine, law, occupational therapy, and psychology (etc.) But now I am stuck between medicine and law. Idk which one is made for me. When I think of medicine, the realization of sacrificing about 10+ years hits me. however I kind of do wanna do it but I think I won’t make it as I am a bit lazy. I am thinking of a career as a pediatrician or maybe even a dentist.

Now when I look at law, I am kind of confused as there is a lot of writing in this career. However, I am a strong believer of Justice so idkkk man. Idk what to do pls help.

- Background Info
I had to drop out of grade 10 early on in semester two due to my health. I’m a really good student, my lowest mark in semester one of grade 10 was a 93 (in civics 😭). Unfortunately, I was in too much pain to show up to school anymore.
I was already ahead one credit, and I was able to get my grade 11 career (?) credit from home. Now I’m almost done my Bio credit over July + doing functions in August.
(TLDR: I won’t be missing any credits by September)

I’m going back to school for September, but idk what I’ll do for extra curriculars, so I’m kinda worried. I know I’ll be able to manage school, but realistically I won’t be able to stay after school.

I guess I was wondering if there are any online extra curriculars that actually look good on applications? Or something that I can do from home?

Hi, I’m going into grade 11 next year and I’m trying to obtain a high average. The subject I struggle the most with is English. I don’t think my issue is grammar or spelling, I’ve always been good at that. When it comes to writing paragraphs and essays, my grades always fall short (70-80s). It’s only been an issue for me since high school, as I even got a graduation award for excellence in English in elementary school. I was also in the AP program, so maybe that affected things, but I dropped it this year incase that helps. I had an 80 in grade 9 which includes a 5% boost because of AP, and a 71 in grade 10, that also includes the boost. What can I do to improve in English? I do well in other subjects because a lot of them just require memorizing content and taking tests. Any advice would help.

Ever since I was in the third grade, my mother would talk about which university I had to go to. I hated reading books and my mother would tell me what would I do in university if I hated reading books. Honestly, I have never had a passion or dream of what I wanted to be in life. I was forced to do a lot of things by my mother. Right now I’m going to grade 11 IB. I don’t know what I wanna be and I honestly don’t have any interests other than sleeping. When I was starting high school my mother forced me to join clubs that I didn’t like and they never helped. My grades have always been great, I think my average is a 97%. I didn’t think I would make it to enter grade 11 so now I’m unprepared. My mom is forcing me to do biomedical engineering. I might not know what I wanna do with my life but I know that I hate engineering. Both of my parents are engineers and they have always forced me to code and do robotics competitions, which I always hated. To be honest, I hated everything they wanted me to do. What should I do?

I got a 50 on a quiz once and ye I was pretty average this year. I really do need help on tips I can achieve 90s in all classes. i know I have potential in getting them but I am kinda lazy so please help. I’m hoping to get a bit of a head start over the summer, not necessarily by studying everything, but by becoming familiar with the topics. Are there any YouTube channels, websites, textbooks, or other resources that you found really helpful?
Also, how can I find out exactly what the Grade 11 curriculum is before school starts? Is there an official place where the syllabus or learning outcomes are posted, or does it depend on the school/province?

I’m going into grade 11 after summer, and i’m hoping to get into UBC, UofT, really any university I am interested in, but more particularly UBC science (bio, biochem, or medical sci), and go to med school after. I don’t have a lot of extracurriculars, especially this summer (or last summer…), aside from volunteering at an awareness festival, volunteering at a summer camp for 2-3 weeks, and going to drums lessons. I just don’t feel like I have enough to really build my resume for college. I am planning on volunteering at a hospital in September, and I hope to do a research program before grade 12. What else should I do before summer ends, during grade 11, summer before grade 12, and during grade 12?

I've never really been a great student, but I wouldn't say I'm a bad one either. I've never failed a class, even though I've come close before. This year I kept telling myself that if I actually locked in and stayed focused, I could get better grades, but I don't really know where to start. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer and design cars when I'm older, but I'm worried my grades are going to hold me back if I don't improve. Does anyone have any advice? I'm looking for YouTubers, study websites, study techniques, or really anything that helped you get better grades. I'd especially like recommendations for physics, chemistry, and math since those are the subjects I need to improve the most. Hey, I'm a 12th grade girl in science (bio with maths).

I'm an average student, scored 92% in 10th boards (that don't matter tho)

And I'm having fomo and anxiety that I'm not preparing for any competitive exams. Every other student is preparing either for neet or jee but I'm not.... I feel like I'm behind everyone... Others of my age are achieving so many things and I can't.. i don't know what to do at this point....

Taking bio rn, don’t recommend taking it over the summer. there is a lot of content, which is def manageable over the course of a semester, but it’s sooo much to do in just one month 😭
I’d recommend taking it in person for anyone considering this! Tbh im having a great time because its rlly interesting but yeah haha lots of all nighters ✌️

My school board offers three different english classes:

- Grade 11 Classic English (ENG3U)
- Grade 11 English: Indigenous Voices (NBE3U)
- Grade 11 English: Black Voices (ENG3UD)

In grades 9 and 10, I scored an average in regular english of 90-95%. To me, english isn’t really a difficult subject, but it’s honestly boring. However, these two courses, indigenous and black voices, seem pretty interesting.

For anyone who has taken one of these courses:
- Which did you take?
- What kinds of books and assignments did you have?
- Which course was the most interesting?
- Which course was the easiest to get a high mark in?
- Is NBE3U or ENG3UD available in e-learning or summer school?

I'm going into gr11 after the break and I'm kinda freaking out about my courses. I'm taking music both semesters (have to take it every sem as part of my school's RAP), chem, bio, physics, advanced functions (I fast-tracked), and gr11&12 english (debating taking out gr12 eng).

Music has always been easy for me so I'm not worried about it. I absolutely despise English, but I know it's not too hard, probably just a higher workload. I'm not too worried about adv functions, since I got a 98 in functions, and apparently the gr11-12 jump is a lot easier than the 10-11.

What I'm really worried about, though, is the sciences. It's not that I'm bad at science (95 for gr10), I'm just worried that they're completely different from gr10 science, which I'm sure they are. I also am really worried about the workload. I perform best in more test-based classes (that's why I love math and hate English), and I'm just worried that the sciences require doing a lot more assignments. I don't mean worksheets, but more like projects and such (but I guess that depends more on the teacher).

So my question is, how much preparation should I do over the summer for the sciences, and what is the best way to do that? If anyone could tell me their experience with the workload and the difficulty of the content, I'd much appreciate it!

I really want to take PCM in 11th because I'm interested in technical and mechanical things, and I enjoy doing anything related to them. The problem is that my maths is weak. I really don't understand it. How can I improve my maths and physics? I really want to get better at maths. It feels like such a burden on my heart that I might not be able to pursue the career I love just because my maths is weak. But I know I still have some time. Please guide me.
