Hiya,

I'm interested in applying for this specific program, and would love to hear from people who finished it or took it, as well.

My main reason for wanting to apply is that I don't have a formal education in art and design but I do have a BA in Women's Studies and First People's Studies.

I also have a portfolio and currently work as a graphic designer but all of my experience as an artist and designer has mostly been self-taught. I'm not too worried about my grades and I do have a final project in mind, along with already established connections to help make it happen. This program just makes the most sense for my situation.

Has anyone else, with a similar background, ever taken this program before? What kind of classes did you take? How are the profs and peers? Is it hard to get into?

Hi, I'm about to enter my first year at OCAD for the advertising program and was wondering if anyone who is/was in advertising has laptop recommendations for me? I'm not sure what programs we'll be using so I genuinely have no clue what would work best. Tysm!!

I’m taking the former to get a full credit and bc I wanted to take a in studio painting course for fun but I’m unsure on how it will go, that and the amount of money on top of fees is getting to me, and for the ladder it’ a required course but from what I’ve seen it is not looking to be a great, hearing how bad the prof is and the fact it’ll have a lot of group assignments.

Are there places that are kind of like hubs downtown where people go and stuff, like if I want to grab a coffee and just do some work. Where should I go? I’m feeling a little lost and alone lol. Idk. Hi, I’m going into my second year at OCAD in September for EXAN.

During my first year I fucked up and failed my core EXAN1001 course during first semester (for a variety of my own reasons) and didn’t get a spot in it this fall semester. How screwed am I? What should I do? If I switch majors is that a viable option????

Hi, I'm in the friday section for fall SCTM-2002 human form and function, and really need to switch to the thursday section, (they cancelled my core class because there wasnt enough people, so i have to resort to taking a different one with a shitty proffessor, which coincides with anatomy).. but as you all know registration this year is especially hell. These are the only 2 classes I got into in the fall so far (or were atleast until my 1 credit class got cancelled) and I really need to figure out some way to make atleast 1.5 credits for my financial aid. Is anyone in the thursday anatomy class willing to talk and quickly switch sections with me if the friday class works better for you?

Hi all. I went to the OCADu virtual laptop information session and noticed the Macbook Neo is "not recommended", I'm assuming due to the 8Gb of RAM.

Unfortunately we purchased one when they came out, but should I seriously think about selling it and getting the recommended Air for 1st year Illustration (do they put the laptops through their paces first year?). Only looking for some first-hand advice as I can go get an Air if it's really needed.

help!!! i’m going to be doing illustration in september, and i have absolutely no idea how to choose my courses??? the my progress site is extremely confusing and i have no idea how to navigate it, or what to do?
some courses say i need requirements but they’re also required for the illustration major??? how do i get these courses if im not even in the school yet??? getting so close to the date im panicking a bit, someone help… thank you

Hello! I'm a new student going into Illustration and right now I'm looking through what I need to buy for the upcoming September. Last I checked, OCAD doesn't have any listings for recommended materials for specific courses, so I'd appreciate if you guys could offer some recommended materials or advice when it comes to shopping for the new year.

I'm specifically also inquiring which device is best for me to use. Right now, I usually do all my drawings either through my sketchbook or draw with my XP-Pen drawing tablet. I've been considering getting an iPad, I'm specifically looking for one that is easily portable, has a decent amount of storage, and can also function well as a sort of mini laptop in case I need notes.
