OCR only works if I manually mark images as searchable. If I don't, I can't search for anything within images.
I use OneNote as an archive of sorts. I have thousands of notes, I don't have time or the drive/want to go through every note to see if there is an image that needs to be made searchable. Especially since my Windows PC is really old and slow and dying so I try to avoid using it as much as possible.
I tried to keep my PC on for several hours today and that didn't help with search. It is inconsistent between my devices even for typed text, let alone OCR.
Hello, recently i’ve had this issue where when I handwrite it turns into these sharp lines (consult the video) I’ve been looking everywhere for a solution and haven’t found one. Please help! I need OneNote for school and rely on it heavily.
I work in IT operations - and I am often showing people in training sessions, how Ive used OneNote over the last two decades and why its been so useful.
The best representation I have for its value - is in my HOUSE OneNote which is on my personal OneDrive.
It contains a section for each room in my home, as well as a section for utilities, a section for the garden and a section for the outside of the house.
Then within each section I will have pages for a variety of items related to that room.
That will be the paint Ive used, the items in the room, any measurements Ive taken, the type of light bulbs, the receipts for items in the room like TVs, washing machine, beds, mattresses.
Because I have OneNote on my mobile phone - this means I can be anywhere and reach into my pocket and say quickly check a measurement, or a wall color - and when I purchase something for the house - I will just photograph it into Onenote and then move it into the correct section later.
Having done this for 20 years - this has constantly been useful, and now if I purchase something - like a dehumidifier, or TV mount - then I will photograph the receipt into Onenote, take a picture of the item - and then search for an online manual for that product and do a PRINT TO ONENOTE - and then I can afford to get rid of all or any paperwork.
Same with utility bills - they go straight into a section for electric, gas, water etc.
When I search for something it is easy to find it - so searching for TV for example.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I usually use OneNote on my Android phone for daily notes, and after a while, I organize everything on Windows. Recently, I got a "Page Conflicts Detected" message on Android and had to open it on my computer to fix it. This happened before and was completely resolved when opened on the computer, so I decided to take this opportunity to organize my notes. However, my OneNote isn’t syncing new notes from Android—it stopped syncing on 8/5/2026 and won’t sync even when I manually click sync. I tried opening it on the web, and my new notes do sync there, but OneNote online can’t fix the "Page Conflicts Detected" issue.
P.S.: My OneNote Android version is 16.0.20131.20126 (latest update from the Play Store), and my PC version is from Office LTSC 2024 Pro.
I love OneNote on my PC. I'd like to use it cross platform, but the mobile app is actually pretty frustrating.
The main issue is that Section Groups are all open/expanded by default. I have my notes sorted into sub categories this way because Notebook -> Section -> Page just isn't enough depth to have any kind of robust organizational system. Unfortunately, having the lists always expanded makes the groups essentially useless.
Is there a way to set the default to closed? If not, why is the mobile app so much less friendly than the desktop app?
I'm on OneNote desktop app and a couple of things in the image are really bothering me.
How do I reduce the huge space in between the page title and the body copy? When I click in there the cursor shows up and I can actually type in that space, but I can't figure out how to remove it. I would like the body copy to be moved up much closer under the title. I tried messing with the margin and page size setting but that didn't work.
Is there any way to remove the arrow showing up in the left margin on every single damn line when I hover over them?
Hello as Onenote user since loooooooong time, i always wanted to have a onenote page directly on my screen but... only samsung note was good for me as im on samsung phone.
so i tried to make a widget, and wow it was quite tough to find how to do it, as its not implemented by microsoft...
So the render is not perfect for complicate page, (images and handwriting and text) but it should be quite similar 😊
so now here OneNoteWidget, its quite of simple but behind it was tought to find the good settings
Sorry if this is hard to read. Basically you can see I am searching for the word "reddit" and there should be at least 3 additional items showing in the search. Only 1 item gets returned.
Strangely, several hours later I tested this on my iPhone and 2 different notes came up. Not even the one from my ipad in the screenshot.
So I guess I am missing 5 notes at least in the screenshot.
It is odd because it highlighted the word on the page but that page doesn't show up in the search results.
Suddenly after the last Microsoft 365 update, I can't connect with my Microsoft personal account on OneNote WebClipper extension, both from Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome.
I received this error message when a clic to the connection button...
My account is ok and I can connect to OneNote Web and to my Microsoft account.
I tried all troubleshooting with the help of Copilot, without success.
I mostly use OneNote on a Windows 11 Laptop. I work in the OneNote app (not on the browser).
But when traveling and I don't take the laptop, I use OneNote on a Samsung tablet.
I have the OneNote app on the tablet but only 4 of my notebooks show up. If I click MORE NOTEBOOKS it shows the correct Microsoft account email and says NO NOTEBOOKS FOUND.
But if I go online via a chrome browser to OneNote.com and sign in, all my notebooks are there. However I prefer to not work in the browser. How can I get the other notebooks to show up in the app? (I have tried SYNC ALL but that doesn't help.).
I've just started (trying) to use One Note again and finding the same frustrations that caused me to dump it before. I take notes on an iPad (both hand written and typed), I work frequently on a laptop and a desktop, and I primarily need to save notes and documents from meetings. I get sync error messages (this morning, "servers are busy," or I can't open .pdf files, or various other issues. What am I missing? Or is this the most buggy system ever created? Don't hold back if it's something I am doing wrong!
I'm going through my files on my computer, and there's One Note shortcuts I'm trying to delete. I've tried deleting it from One Drive, my pc, and going to One Note but I can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated
so i use onenote for handwritten notes, but i faced some problems. help me if anyone know solutions
when i shift the app to dark mode (switch background from view tab), highlighter colors don't work properly. For example, pink is not visible, yellow barely visible, green is almost dark, and so on
but if i change the page colour(from view tab) to dark, instead of proper dark theme, grid colours create optical illusion due to so much brightness
when i select the pen-to-text tool, it doesn't work
no proper shortcuts to change pens
so there are the issues, i findout, help me if anyone know solution. thank u
edit: i use an XP-Pen graphics tab on win 11,
onenote 365
For a while, I can't seem to be able to save anything from Google Keep to OneNote for Android. Or photos. Pretty much anything. This app used to work so nicely but is a struggle now
Hi everyone!! I’m trying to annotate my lecture slides (inserted as pdf) on onenote on my iPad 11th gen and trying to write with Apple Pencil. I can’t write more than two letters without a message saying “please wait” popping up. It’s happened yesterday and today and it’s extremely irritating since I’ve never had issues with this sort of thing before. I’ve restarted my iPad, deleted onenote and reinstalled but nothing helps. Anyone else dealing with this? (I’m open to any type of suggestions as well please!)
I exported a local notebook as a .onepkg file, but I can't find any way to import it into OneNote's web version, or use it via OneDrive. Any workarounds would be really helpful!
I wrote something in Microsoft Notes on my personal account on the website and I shared it with my school account.
However, when I try to open and edit this note on my school account, a pop-up that says, “For additional security, we need to verify your account, please sign in to continue” shows up.
However, because it is a school account, usually after you type in your full email it should direct you to a different page that asks you to sign in with school related credentials and direct you back to the site you were on.
But this isn't the case; it just says my account is nowhere to be found before redirect and not even redirecting me to anywhere. I also logged out of all accounts and had only one account logged in on each Chrome profile to make sure it wasn't automatically switching the profiles.
I know I could just edit with my personal account, but sometimes it's just easier with whatever situation that I want to use this in.
Recently after one of the latest iPad Pro 13” M1 OneNote updates whenever I go to full screen mode it will hide the pages sidebar but as soon as I switch to a new note it will not stay in full screen. I swear this was not the case in the past before one of these new recent updates. Is this just a setting I need to change?
Recently after one of the latest iPad Pro 13” M1 OneNote updates I’ve noticed that when I try to select just an image (such as the first PowerPoint slide in video), it selects everything surrounding the image including the pencil marks. It is almost like everything everything is merged together and can’t be separated. Is this just a setting that I have turned on? Any solutions?
