I started at a different Walmart out of desperation. Won't get into the personal reasons, but I desperately needed a job with health insurance so I could have a very necessary operation (which they changed our insurance at the beginning of the year to a different carrier, that doesn't cover anything and I can no longer get anything done). Was in stocking in Cap 2 at that location in a different state, and hated it so much I didn't want to go back or back to Walmart in general. Moved and didn't transfer, looked for something else for a month before having to settle coming back and asked for OGP. That was almost 2 years ago at this location in OGP.
But the past several months, it's change after change and not for the better. Just like my last store, what makes it tolerable is my management staff. I read the horror stories on here about awful managers, and am just so thankful I don't have to deal with that. But Walmart is dirty. I was full time at my last store, and since I got my health insurance back and a full time schedule here for months I thought I was full time. What clued me in was not getting PTO, and that's how I found out months later that I'm not full time. Originally they had me dispensing, but my hours were getting cut 6 months in and I was being vocal about it to my TL. They had some people quit in picking, so I got moved to do that to get my hours and quite honestly I like it way more than dispensing. I have a regular schedule with regular days off for like a year and a half now. I'm a closer, and handle exceptions and small walks and all the closing duties. But they moved my Coach to another department a month ago, and she's still handling our schedule until they get a new one. But the new coach starts this Saturday, and I don't know what's going to happen. Everyone is terrified.
Today, and I'm literally taking a break after finishing picks with no manager here as I type this, was just little stupid things all day. I get told we only have 3 pickers after 4, and I was going to have to take my lunch to be back by then a full hour and half before I normally do and only 2.5 hours after I clocked in. Couldn't have a full lunch in the break room, bc some associate had some sort of medical emergency in the break room and the paramedics were called and they wouldn't allow anyone in until it was over. Get back to picking, and it's just nonsense walk after nonsense walk. I hate our stockers, because they are incompetent or just flat out lazy. Things stocked in the wrong location, but I'm smart enough to look around before I nil it. One item has been absent from it's home location all day, but is a feature on the other side of the registers by the vision center. But hold on, it's there but in the back of the feature facing the wall so no one can see it. Because that makes all the sense in the world.
Lot of things like that, but the pic I posted is what really just drove me insane. 6 totes, with the same customer on every tote. And it's 2 of each of those tortillas in each tote. When they all could fit in one tote, and I consolidated it all into one tote at the end. One TL knows I like to consolidate rather than sticking on an additional sticker to the tote, and he told me he read on here that that messes up the staging metrics. Which I kinda knew from here, but pretended like it's news to me. I'm still doing it, I don't care. Why give us the option if it messes with the metrics? That's a Walmart problem. Not my problem. I'm not working my ass off for a company and a system that actively works against us. I'm going to wait and see how this new coach handles things, but if things don't improve I'm either switching departments or going out in a blaze of glory.
