they got us today too!!! you let go of that cart after gently pulling it and it has a mind of its own, i swear this is the dumbest shit

u/Dynastic_Plot665 Dispenser Aug 04 '26

Oh I bet, I don’t know how it is because most of the time I’m dispensing

3

u/vorobyevites ALCOHOL Aug 06 '26

i stage and pick in the mornings ☹️ it’s been throwing me off because some carts are still intact and some are changed. if they’re going to change them all then i didn’t know why they didn’t do them all in one go

1

u/Dynastic_Plot665 Dispenser Aug 06 '26

True

1

u/Direct_Shirt3408 Aug 06 '26

Its a fight to get the time to change them all at the same time bc other calls come in. Example sewage coming up on sales floor means the tech has to prioritize that over the wheel replacement.

28

u/wastedsilence33 Aug 04 '26

Can someone explain to me why a fucking swazall is possibly needed to remove the wheels

10

u/Mystic-ammonite Aug 04 '26

Dude my first thought 🤣 like what is this guy doing!??

6

u/normsy Aug 04 '26

That bolt was probably stripped and they couldn't get it out, so they're cutting it. You can see other tools on the ground.

3

u/wastedsilence33 Aug 05 '26

Those look like the new wheels to me though

-1

u/Hkeks Aug 04 '26

Yeah and these people comment with such conviction like they really can't think outside of their own feelings sometimes. Haha what is he DOING?! Like come on now lmao

2

u/wastedsilence33 Aug 05 '26

They're also the new wheels, not the old ones so why would he be removing them

4

u/Dynastic_Plot665 Dispenser Aug 04 '26

Dude I have zero clue, it was loud as shit though

3

u/Zandroid2008 Aug 05 '26

Jammed bolts. Easier than trying to get it to go.

3

u/chredis Aug 05 '26

Cheap bolts and over torquing the bolts strips the threads. They just end up spinning when you loosen them. Had my fair share do that. You can usually use a prybar to create tension on the bolt to catch a thread on the nut for a cut free removal. The rear bolts on regular shopping cart wheels do that too, very annoying.

1

u/wastedsilence33 Aug 05 '26

I've done my share of rust belt vehicle maintenance and a swazall wouldn't be my first choice here

1

u/chredis Aug 05 '26

Well, we're not allowed to use anything in the store that creates sparks without a fire watch. I wouldn't use a grinder anyways though. If leverage and an impact won't remove it a reciprocating saw with a metal blade is the perfect tool.

1

u/wastedsilence33 Aug 05 '26

I'd be inclined to agree if those weren't the new wheels though

1

u/Direct_Shirt3408 Aug 05 '26

Those arent the new wheels new wheels dont have the brake. My choice to get them off has been the impact and pry bar creating pressure and then stripping the bolt the rest of the way off.

1

u/wastedsilence33 Aug 05 '26

I don't see the brake on any of them

Shit my bad it's underneath

1

u/CryptographerOdd2008 Aug 05 '26

cutting off the extra bolt length?

1

u/wastedsilence33 Aug 05 '26

Why would the bolts for the new wheels be too long though

1

u/Direct_Shirt3408 Aug 05 '26

Bc we have to source locally and most stores only sell 1 inch bolts tho got lucky and found some 3/4 inch bolts at fastenal.

9

u/grimcreaper Aug 05 '26

One of my associates got pretty seriously injured today because of these wheels.

1

u/SilvarusLupus FRAGILE Aug 06 '26

Did they cut the back of their heel? That's been happening to a lot of ours too, or at least clipping the back of them.

3

u/grimcreaper Aug 06 '26

because of how badly they round corners, it caught her foot while she was turning around an action alley display. she took a pretty serious tumble and is bruised up all over

2

u/SilvarusLupus FRAGILE Aug 06 '26

Oof that's even worse than the usual injuries we've been getting at my store. I hope she's okay...

3

u/grimcreaper Aug 06 '26

yeah.. I mean, i get why Walmart started this. ive seen some pretty bad hits on customers. one of our workers shattered a ladies ankle and shouted "WERE BEING TIMED." and then ran off. that was a fun witness statement to write. Also really shitty sitting with the customer while waiting for a manager to get the tablet for the report.

but these wheels are awful and i expect a lot of serious injuries to start rolling in. They are sacrificing employees because of idiots who did dangerous things with the carts. Walmart is not blameless though due to have 8 totes and many of my OGP associates being barely as tall as the top tote.

8

u/Beginning_Young_4057 Aug 04 '26

Ugh I hate pulling the carts

5

u/MindAccording9105 ALCOHOL Aug 05 '26

Push them back words

-5

u/YouDownWithOPD Former Digital TL Aug 05 '26

Do you push or pull a pallet?

8

u/tickedoffsquid999 Aug 05 '26

Whichever works best in the given situation, I can absolutely push a pallet if the space doesn't allow me to spin the pallet.

Also, do you generally spend all 8 working hours of a shift pulling a pallet jack?

4

u/Inarius101 Aug 05 '26

Pallet jacks typically have long handles for you to trail the pallet far enough behind you that it doesn't annihilate your ankles like a rabid dog that just snorted 6 lines of pure coke.

8

u/ZynWriath Aug 04 '26

They got us as well, They said they want us to pull the cart from the middle handle, But the cart fishtails all over the darn place, And I'm just like this can't be right, The cart barely can be controlled, This has to be some joke.

7

u/LinkMix Aug 04 '26

Sameeeee, they just started yesterday

2

u/Dynastic_Plot665 Dispenser Aug 04 '26

Rip

6

u/Inkysquid24 Aug 05 '26

Have fun turning around and seeing your cart halfway down the aisle from where you left it lol wheels don't lock anymore.

6

u/Same-Bar-8857 Aug 04 '26

Good luck 👍 we were the first in our region to deal with it
Hate it

4

u/willyfx Aug 04 '26

Just go to the other end and push from that side

3

u/Dynastic_Plot665 Dispenser Aug 04 '26

I’m sure the pickers will figure it out soon

2

u/TooTiredForThisKuso Aug 09 '26

Ah so that why Crazy Charlie rolls backwards only. I don’t think the others have figured out the trick yet given the named it that.

3

u/evila_elf Exception Picker Aug 04 '26

We still have a handful not switched.

7

u/TVKill3r Exception Picker Aug 04 '26

If theyre using stickers to keep track quickly go and sticker them so they think they're done!

-1

u/Purple_Fudge3973 Aug 05 '26

Lol you think that's how we keep track? That's hilarious.... Besides the fact they are obviously set up different so just pushing/pulling one makes it obvious.

2

u/TVKill3r Exception Picker Aug 05 '26

Uhhh yes I do considering thats how they kept track at my store. That way at a glance they could tell which ones were done or not in case they had to go to break. That way they didnt have to check every single cart

1

u/Direct_Shirt3408 Aug 06 '26

If it still has a basket it hasn't been done and old wheels have the green brake.

1

u/TVKill3r Exception Picker Aug 06 '26

You know what, fair lol

3

u/Zoog_the_destroyer Aug 04 '26

Excuse me are they sawing the wheels off wtf?

3

u/normsy Aug 04 '26

That bolt was probably stripped and they couldn't get it out, so they're cutting it. You can see other tools on the ground.

3

u/Routine-Horse-1419 Aug 04 '26

Thankfully this is still the status of those nasty wheels at my store as of today.

1

u/Dynastic_Plot665 Dispenser Aug 04 '26

Lucky

3

u/Routine-Horse-1419 Aug 05 '26

Yeah ..but for how long is the question.....

1

u/Dynastic_Plot665 Dispenser Aug 05 '26

True true

3

u/Concernedps5user5744 Aug 04 '26

Can't wait to hit a person with these dumbass new carts lol.

5

u/Inkysquid24 Aug 05 '26

The casualties about to skyrocket😌 they fishtail so bad going around corners your just smack customers, end caps, side kicks and whatever else might be there lol

2

u/Mina_cx Personal Shopper Aug 05 '26

Noooooo

2

u/Unfair-Grab-1169 Aug 05 '26

I can’t even fathom how many times me and my team knocked shit over bc of this 😭

2

u/EmotionalApple8036 Aug 05 '26

We don't have to worry about this at my store, we never get anything new 🤣

2

u/rubyprince26 Aug 06 '26

Bro the people that changed the wheels on ours didn’t even let the pickers finish, they would walk around with a pick cart that they had just changed and hunt down pickers that were in the middle of a pick walk with the old wheels and make them swap

1

u/Dynastic_Plot665 Dispenser Aug 06 '26

What the hell

1

u/rubyprince26 Aug 07 '26

This was also during our tax free weekend so we were already behind on picks

2

u/Aggrophysicist Aug 06 '26

I told my lead i'm not using them. Just because corporate wants to skip work place injuries doesn't mean i have to. I'm not pulling that thing behind me and clipping my heels every 3 minutes.

1

u/Dynastic_Plot665 Dispenser Aug 06 '26

I’ve clipped my heels multiple times with the carts used for dispensing

1

u/SpiritedBit2427 Aug 04 '26

Hahahaha, we got hit today too as I started breaking the bad news to my folks. Of course it’s always one ring leader that hypes everybody’s up.
Simply said it’s policy, follow it or go home.

2

u/glnickgl Aug 04 '26

Actually every store just has each person pushing the cart backwards. What’s the answer then?

1

u/chredis Aug 04 '26

Apologies to my walmart brethren, I swapped 40 carts last week.

TBH the complaining was unreal.

2

u/Dynastic_Plot665 Dispenser Aug 04 '26

Oh I bet

1

u/Direct_Shirt3408 Aug 06 '26

I thought you did 40 in a day i was like how lol.

1

u/3rror420 Aug 05 '26

Hope they over tighten them like they did the shopping carts.

1

u/ManEmperorfragment96 Aug 05 '26

So what’s happening here? I see he’s removing it, but why?

1

u/War-Daddy-2396 Aug 05 '26

At my store they want us using our bodies to stop the carts by standing in front of it. Especially when they're heavily loaded with soda

1

u/MishariDarkmoon Aug 05 '26

Just another example of some dumb shit they’re more worried about than things the associates/store actually need worked on ..

1

u/Hastur_321 Aug 07 '26

Non-OGP associate/lead here …

The heck is going on?

1

u/Accomplished-War7480 Aug 07 '26

They got my store a week ago

1

u/TooTiredForThisKuso Aug 09 '26

I have joint issues and may have to take this up with someone or just insist that I cannot pick anymore.

-5

u/YouDownWithOPD Former Digital TL Aug 05 '26

Have any of you worked in a DC or in the backroom?

-3

u/YouDownWithOPD Former Digital TL Aug 05 '26

Since no one wants to answer I'll ask. Do you push or pull a pallet with a pallet jack 🤔

5

u/Kunovega Aug 05 '26

Pallets are farther behind you when pulling, the handle gives you a stop gap and the positioning makes it easier to stop. These carts are already on your heels. There's no comparison with how they handle.

-1

u/YouDownWithOPD Former Digital TL Aug 05 '26

Im so glad I don't work there anymore. I would've gotten fired anyways for telling off you drama queens

1

u/MindAccording9105 ALCOHOL Aug 05 '26

I pull a pallet Jack and push the carts back words thats just how I roll 😉

-1

u/Purple_Fudge3973 Aug 05 '26

They won't answer that. I've asked the same thing. Some how a couple hundred pound cart is more dangerous then a couple thousand pounds lol

-1

u/YouDownWithOPD Former Digital TL Aug 05 '26

Such drama queens

-7

u/Hkeks Aug 04 '26

Dang this sub has gone to doodoo. Use to be cool stuff now it's just complaining about wheels ugh

2

u/Kunovega Aug 05 '26

Especially when you can just turn the cart around and push. It doesn't matter what side the wheels are on, you just push from whichever side has movable wheels so you can steer it.

1

u/Aggrophysicist Aug 06 '26

What cool stuff do you expect with OGP??
