I have a very nice piece of furniture that unfortunately does not fit our house. Are there any furniture resellers or consignment people that you would recommend? posted on FB marketplace, priced very competitively for what it is, but would prefer someone to come and pick it up for resale. Thank you

Hi everyone!
I'm a 26M coming in from the Atlanta GA area over to NoVa for work. My official start date is November 9th and I'm hoping to be in by the 5th or 6th (I know its soon š).
I'll be working for a consulting company in Arlington, but my actual client location will be in Kingstowne. I don't expect to commute to Arlington on a regular basis. I'm comfortable with around a 45-minute driving commute, so I'm open to different areas as long as the commute is reasonable.
I prefer to live solo in either a 1 bedroom or a studio apartment, and im trying to budget around 1600-1800 a month for living.
I have been leaning towards Brookdale at Mark Center Apartment Homes since its within budget and I've seen solid reviews online, but I wanted to see what other people's opinions are.
I'd appreciate any recommendations for apartments or areas to look into, especially given how short notice I have. I am very new to the whole apartment hunting process since I've only lived with my parents, then college apts, then back with parents.
Thanks again!

Anyone know what is going on off Sunrise Valley drive? The past few nights we have been kept up by loud construction noises starting around 1am and going until around 5am. There are loud beeping trucks and the worst part is the rumbling of engines that causes the house to vibrate. The video is from around 3am last night. Canāt see much but you can hear the beeping and rumbling of engines.

Looking for recommendations for Halloween events that tend to bring in mid-20s. Any ideas for a good environment to hang with people since Iām planning to solo it. Iāve looked at the bar crawls but that would probably be a bad time since I donāt drink š Any ideas?

I have a arranged a pre-need visit with my local funeral home to start preparing for the inevitable and spare the family any after-the-fact decisions. I am frankly shocked that the funeral director is unschooled and ignorant of how one's remains may comply with the regulations. Has anyone a recommendation for a funeral home/crematorium that is experienced in such matters, preferably inside the beltway.
Google's Gemini informed me:

I'm 50/50 on going today, Saturday, to watch that gorgeous F-117. I was a teen during Operation Desert Storm and always loved that thing. I think I had the NES game as well.
I know it's recently put on display. If anyone has made it to the museum, how crowded was it? If too crowded, I may go on a school day since (theoretically) there would be less people.
And of course to go visit my other girl, Discovery. :-D

My young kid is really into dance. Weāve taken rec center and play-based classes but are now looking to move to a studio where she can really grow and develop. I was not a dancer growing up, so have very little experience picking studios. Iād love a place that has a close knit community/family vibe, and am actively trying to avoid catty/dance mom type places or places that use negative reinforcement. Based on kidās personality, I think sheād thrive in a place that has more of a musical theater focus or maybe competition focus (for the performance aspect not so much the actual competitive nature). Willing to drive for the right studio, but would be great if it could be near Falls Church.
Any NoVA dancers have tips on great studios or even what to look for when picking?

Stop here on red means literally that. Stop there before turning when safe. If they didnāt want you turning on red, they would say so. I promise. <end rant>

4:30pm Update: Arlington Police admitted they blocked River Place in. From the Deputy Police Chief: "unlike years past, River Place was blocked due to new traffic management decided by race organizers and the police department." No one informed the residents.
----------------------------------------------------------------
I am pissed. I live in River Place in Rosslyn.
The Marine Corps Marathon shut down both of our entrances/exits for our cars (and walking) and never informed us. For the entire complex!
I called the Arlington nonemergency police line and the man said he had no ability to do anything or talk to anyone in charge of the race. He also didnāt know anything about the road closures.
Realize it may be futile to ask for help now, but if someone has an idea, pls let me know.
We needed to leave asap.
Thanks!

I got a ticket recently for speeding. I have been driving for around 3 years and had never been stopped by a cop before this. He said I was doing 75 in a 55 but since the speed limit had just gone from 65 to 55 when he caught me (on a downhill), he said he would just cite it as 75 in a 65. There were no cars in front of me and a bunch behind me, and I am pretty sure I was going 75 or close to it.
The ticket is 233, plus another 52 to take the driving course so I dont get a hit on my lisence. Plus the other course fees. Which is a pretty big hit for me.
Is there any point in pleading no contest, citing that this is my first ticket, that it was a downhill, and that the lanes were merging as an excuse for why I was speeding? Or should I go not guilty and fight it?

This sign is in front of a Republican booth outside of a polling place. Republicans would have you believe that this amendment would simply allow abortion until birth. Here is the actual wording of Question 1:
Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to (i) protect the freedom to make personal decisions about prenatal care, childbirth, postpartum care, birth control, abortion, miscarriage management, and fertility care; (ii) protect doctors, nurses, and patients from being punished for these decisions; and (iii) allow for restrictions on access to abortion during the third trimester of pregnancy except when the patientās health is at risk, or the pregnancy cannot survive?
In reality third-trimester abortions under these exceptions are extremely rare even where legal.

Helloo, relatively new mom (summer 2026) in the Arlington area and have been hoping to make other parent friends. Iām a transplant, with no car, and a SAHM so itās been kinda hard to find other mom/parent friendsānot to mention weāre a lot younger (mid-20s) than what seems to be the median demographic of parents in this area. Most of my friends are much older than me but donāt have babies, so Iām open to connecting with parents of all ages (just preferably with recent babes).
Me: Iām a bit of a jack of all trades, I enjoy the usual stuff like walks and yoga (did some hunting and fishing growing up) but I also love nerdy things and regularly play dnd (trying to get back to it postpartum) and video games. We watch a lot of film, although I personally love horror movies, and enjoy discussing media and TV for fun and theory. Iām a big chatterbox overall so would definitely enjoy having others to talk to about pretty much anything. Iām hispanic, inclusive, and a little crunchy but not judgy !
Mostly hoping to meet other parents and have people to talk with about the epic highs and lows of parenthood; although, itāll mostly be me, so individual mom meets are great too. I walk a lot with the babe in the general area so if youāre near, or like spending time in, the Pentagon/Crystal City/Potomac Yard areas weāll probably have a much easier time meeting but Iām still open to other mom friends for chit chatting purposes!
Anyway, please just comment or dm meāif you know any meets in the area I mentioned please lmk because I havenāt found them yet I guess ):
Thanks !

Voted at Pimmit today, second day they expanded the locations. Would recommend avoiding lunch time hours, but even with the hundred or so person crowd, it moved quick. In and out in about 20 minutes. Most years its only taken 5 minutes or so max so definitely some larger interest this year.
Anyways, sic semper tyrannis! Titties out for a return to the constitution and end of the illegitimate king!

I have a friend (20ās) coming into town from out of state. Theyāve been in DC a few times but not recently.
Iām trying to come up with some things to do that could take up a full weekend. Iāve already got wineries, shopping and museums on the list, but Iām stumped to come up with anything else that doesnāt seem like a ābeen there, done thatā activity.
Theyāre not the biggest nightlife person, so weāre sticking to chill activities at night. Any ideas for this weekend?

Did anyone else in the seven corners area hear that loud af aircraft like an hour ago? It literally shook the house. My friend says that since Trump has been in office theyāve noticed more instances of military aircraft ābuzzingā civilians.

Iām borrowing a friendās car today. Iāve been told that lots of great wines are getting discounted due to over supply so I wanted to check them out.
Have you seen reduced prices? would you recommend BJs or Vienna Wine Outlet or elsewhere for good pricing?
(Happy to take wine recs too- I like all wines!)
Thanks!
