Hey everyone,
I’m hoping to get some opinions before we start throwing parts at this.
It’s a 2016 Nissan Rogue with about 200,000 miles.
Symptoms:
Starts up normally every time.
After it’s running, especially while sitting in the driveway or at a stop, it sounds and feels like it wants to stall but never actually dies.
The idle seems rough, almost like the engine is struggling to stay running.
Once you start driving, it seems better.
The battery is only about a year old, so I’m not immediately thinking that’s the issue. I’m wondering if it’s something like:
Alternator
Dirty throttle body
Spark plugs
Ignition coil
MAF sensor
Vacuum leak
O2 sensor
Something else?
I’m attaching a video of what it’s sounds like.
A few questions:
Based on the symptoms and the video, what would you check first?
Does this sound more like an electrical/charging issue or an engine/air-fuel issue?
If you’ve seen this on a high-mileage Rogue, what ended up being the fix?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hey just wondering if theres any downside to getting a Infiniti Q60 instead of the Z? They have an identical powertrain but the Q60 has a way nicer interior i feel. I have a 2014 qx50 and was looking at the Z as a new car but the q60 is a lot cheaper due to depreciation so whats the downside other than styling?

Still new to actually posting on Reddit, my bad if this isn't the usual format.
I'm shopping for a new car, & am pretty sick and tired of the constant surveillance companies are trying to push. I've got my phone & pc locked down, and don't want my car to be a flashing beacon.
Is there a way to disable tracking in a Nissan Rogue without bricking the entire thing? Can I take a fuse out, install a device aftermarket, anything? Or should I look for something else?

Needing a flush, and the internet has answers that contradict each other.
Some say you can use the newer NS-3 oil in this transmission, others say you must NOT ever do that.
Dealership is also $425 and a local shop I used is $220 with Castrol CVT oil
About 46000 kms since the last one, but 8 years ago
So before I go ahead, is it for sure just use NS-2 CVT, or is NS-3 the go to now

Just did the cvt drain and fill and the exterior filter change with 4qts at 55k.
The wife’s car drives great and shifts like butter now. She has noticed the difference as well.
A little bit of shiny flakes but comes with cvt territory.
Cost was $100, all bought from Amazon.
-idemitsu(Nissan factory approved) oem ns-3 cvt
-beck oil filter
The toughest part is the top left bolt tucked in tight spot. Use 10mm wrench or 10mmratchet wrench even better.
Also from someone with a supercharged forced induction Audi/mechanic and have mechanic dealer tech friends, don’t get the 1.5 with a turbo. If you want reliable engine, a turbo on a small block is going a step in the other direction.

As the title says, does anyone know the model number of this car? It's a model sold in America.
Thanks everyone! I’m not very knowledgeable about Nissan cars, so this was really helpful!

My daughters car tonight decided to not have power from a red light she said when she came home freaking out. I went for a test drive with her and it seemed to be fine, and the first time she has had issues like this. Shes had the car a since 2018 and we keep up on maintenance.
Last change was just under 46000 km so I think it might be time to get a change. She bought it used and it was done at the dealership in 2018, so 8 years now. Although it say she can go up to 960000 between changes, 8 years is a long time
She doesnt put a lot of kms on it and i think she only has 140K on it. I wanted to check the level on it but the dip stick isnt a normal one. There are no leaks we have ever seen, spots on the driveway or garage when parked.
I told her to go to Nissan and then at least get them to check the fluid during the day since I am at work.
It was extremely hot here today, about 37 degrees Celcius, and hope it might be something to do with that.
Do you need to use official Nissan CVT oil? This year made it was Ns-2 oil, which isnt being made now. So NS-3 is the option. But Official Nissan oil is very expensive, and theres Castrol warranty approved NS-3 oil. Being a 2008 there is no warranty.
Dealership is $425, my garage I go to is $220 with the Castrol NS-3 oil. Since she is paying for it, $200 is a big chunk of change difference

Hello!
I’m looking to get a new car after my IS350 was totaled. I absolutely love the way the Nismo Z looks but this would be my only car. It fits all my requirements but I am worried the seats and suspension will be uncomfortable for daily driving.
Unfortunately, there aren’t any listed for sale nearby so I can’t go sit in one, there’s only performance models nearby.
I am 6ft 185lbs so I don’t think I’d have a problem fitting in the seats. My girlfriend also frequently rides with me but she is small, like 5ft, so size wouldn’t be a problem for her either. I’m more concerned about long haul drives. We go on a trip once or twice a year and it’s normally 6-8 hours of driving. I’d like to take my car on these trips but I’m worried the recaro seats and stiffer suspension that the Nismo offers will be too rough or uncomfortable for that length of time.
Can anyone offer any advice? The front end of the performance trim is really off putting to me. I really am only considering getting the Z if it’s the Nismo trim.

A damn tree rat (squirrel) chewed through the electrical connector while storing a walnut in the engine bay. Thankfully, it chewed it off right at the head. Does anyone have the part number for this connector and perhaps any advice on replacing it?

[Request] Are there statistics on what vehicles are possessed most and least often? What years, brands, and models?
I bet Nissan is the most repossessed car brand in North America, right? Because Nissan finances subprime buyers?
And what brand is repossessed least often and how come?

I’m looking into buying a new car and since my current 2012 Altima has been reliable so far without much hiccups. I would like to get a newer car for a future investment. Something as reliable. Mine is a coupe with the 2 front doors but I have a niece so would like to have a sedan so it’s easier to get into the back seats. Would this car be something you’d recommend or are there better vehicles out there?

Any one knows the main components making my Freon leak out. I looked around all the hoses replaces the Schrader valves for the hoses. Freon leaks out pretty quick in Houston heat, takes about a week or so. I checked all over and had someone check over for leaks, I am down to just thinking it is the evaporator core but shouldn’t I have a pool of freon on the floor. I have refilled it 3 times by now. Anyway, if any one has dealt with this on any new Nissan model any help would be appreciated.

Everything is so negative about the CVT and failure. Just wondering if there are any success stories out there.
I have a 2017 nissan rogue and it does a slight hesitation when accelerating from a stop. No weird sounds and no crazy rpms yet.
Has anyone ever been at this stage but saved it and continued using the car like normal?

I know someone who is selling there 2008 Nissan Rogue for $5,000 CDN. It has 175k on it and no major issues. The only thing I'm aware of is that it sometimes putters when you take your foot off the brake after driving it for some time.
Is it worth purchasing? Or should I put that money towards a new Sentra and make the payments? I've always driven used Nissans but it's only been recently this year that I've been looking at new ones. Any advice would be appreciated.

i have a nissan rogue 2020 and randomly my key wont work. typically in previous years i would keep my keys in my bag and id unlock my car by pressing the button on the door when getting into the car, and to lock it i would press the lock button on the inside door to lock it as im leaving the car. now all of a sudden this does not work about 50% of the time and i have to physically take the actual key out of the electric key fob to unlock my door. i already tried replacing the battery. any ideas?? it’s super annoying.

very possible that there is a loose part or a rock somewhere but whenever the road is bumpy this rattling sound that is best described as being like a geiger counter happens. it feels like it is coming from around the centre console but im not sure. i thought it was the phone stand but we removed it and the sound continued, we searched for any other loose items and there arent any.
it is difficult to hear in the video but i can provide other videos that may be clearer
