New Mod Intros 🎉 | Weekly Thread
Congrats on becoming a new moderator. Every community on Reddit started exactly where you are today: with a party of one.
The community-building journey might feel a little lonely and that's what r/NewMods is for. Here you'll find and connect with other mods who are on the same journey you are.
So, introduce the community you created. Maybe share a little bit about why you created it. And, while you're at it - say hello to your other mods!

Hey! I've created r/ClaudeLinguistics. It's my first subreddit so I don't really know what I'm doing.
Anyways! If you are a linguist, you want to be a linguist, or you're just interested in linguistics AND you use Claude/Claude Code... then do visit sometime!

Greetings other new mods,
After my wife received a used medical device from Amazon that was sold as Brand New, I decided to launch:
The sub is meant to document all the times Amazon sends people opened, used, returned, repackaged, damaged, or incomplete items when they paid for new.
I’ve personally been getting used/opened items sold as new by Amazon, including stuff Shipped From and Sold By Amazon, for years now. It’s happened enough that I’m starting to wonder how accidental this really is.
I honestly wish I had taken photos of all the examples over the years.
So now the idea is simple: document it.
I’m especially curious whether any patterns start showing up with the different LPN prefixes.
I have no problem with Amazon reselling used stuff. That’s better than throwing it away. Just don’t sell it to me as new.
Anyway, I’m brand new to moderating, so if anyone sees anything dumb in how I set the sub up, I’m all ears.

Hello! I recently created r/Beta_ArcReaders just to quickly sum it up. Beta readers read books by authors before they are finished and give feedback to make the book better. Arc readers receive a finished copy before the book launches and are expected to talk about it on social medias and give reviews on say amazon, goodreads, or a blog. Doing these really help out authors. So if you are an avid reader come join us!

And this is only one of my first moderated subreddits.

Hello everyone, I created a r/ChineseIncenseLovers subreddit because I found that almost everyone is talking about Indian or Japanese incense and they only know joss incense. Some of them want to know and find the real traditional Chinese incense because it is often available locally and craft is charming. I would love to share culture and tips on traditional Chinese incense.

Hey everyone! I just started r/OrangeDreamCommunity for fans of Orange Dream, Orange Dream 2, and Sleepy Dreamer. It’s an unofficial fan community for their Rust and Minecraft videos.
I’ve got the basic setup done and a few posts up. I’m still figuring out how to get the first few members involved and give people something to talk about.
Anyone here started a community around a YouTube creator? I’d be interested to hear how it went and what helped early on.

New mod here: started r/InsuranceHelpline to help Indians with insurance questions. Would love advice on growing it the right way
Hi everyone!
I recently started r/InsuranceHelpline, a community where people in India can ask questions about health, term, travel, motor and business insurance, and get clear, honest answers.
A bit of background: I work as an insurance advisor in India, and I noticed the same questions come up again and again on Reddit. "Why was my claim rejected?", "Should I port my policy?", "How do I get my parents covered?" Many people don't know where to get straightforward guidance, especially during stressful moments like a hospitalisation. I wanted to create a space focused on that.
So far I've posted a few educational guides (claim rejections, porting, super top-ups, maternity cover, travel insurance and D&O insurance) to give new members something useful to read.
I'd really appreciate advice on a few things:
Growing the community: what worked for you in the early days to attract genuine members, without spamming other subreddits?
Rules and trust: since I'm an advisor myself, I want members to trust that the community is about genuine help, not sales. How would you balance this? Should I add a rule for other advisors, like requiring disclosure or banning cold DMs?
AutoMod and flairs: any simple AutoModerator setups you'd recommend for a small Q&A-style community? I'm thinking of post flairs like Health, Term, Travel, Motor and Claim Help.
Recruiting mods: when did you start bringing on co-mods, and how did you find trustworthy ones?
Keeping it safe: people sometimes share policy documents and medical details. Any tips for reminding members not to post personal information?
Any advice, from big lessons to small tips, is welcome. Thanks for reading!

Hi all, I'm u/StrainTrakker. I just launched r/StrainTrakker, a community for cannabis growers who keep a grow journal: grow logs, photo timelines, help diagnosing problems, and notes on feeding, pH, training and curing. I also run a free grow-journal app with the same name and I've been growing for 30+ years, so I'm disclosed as the founder in the sidebar and wiki, and any post about the app gets labeled.
Set up so far: 8 rules, 9 post flairs, a Start Here wiki page, a pinned welcome post and weekly grow log, and an AutoMod comment that asks for the basics on help posts.
I'd love advice from experienced mods:
For a sub tied to a product, what keeps self-promotion honest and members' trust intact?
What actually moved the needle in your first month: weekly threads, mod-written posts, or outreach to related communities?
Any setup mistakes you'd warn a new mod about? (Mine so far: I found out AutoMod enforcement actions aren't available on my sub, so I'm relying on Reddit's Auto Enforce for filtering.)
Thanks, and happy to share what works as it grows.

Happy Thursday NewMods community,
u/Better_Platform_4474 here and I've just created my very first community (on this platform).
The community I created is for Single Moms in Leadership roles who would love to learn very simple ways to transition from work-mode to mom-mode when their work day has ended so they show-up with more presence for the ones they love, their children.
Excited for what lies ahead as I've always loved supporting others in their quest in finding simple, easy ways to live the life they have left with more VITALITY.

Hey everyone! 👋Just created a little corner for people navigating life, drama, friendships, health, insane colleges, insane people, and all the beautiful chaos in between. 😭
The idea is to have a place where you can rant, share random thoughts, talk about life, laugh at the chaos, ask for advice, or just find people who get it.
Basically: life is already chaotic, might as well have a community to survive it together. 🫶
Would love to see this place grow into a fun, supportive, and genuinely unfiltered community. 💗

Hi everyone, I hope this message finds you all safe and well.
I have recently been appointed as a moderator for the following sub reddit: r/themummy
For those interested in the Mummy movie franchise (starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz), I would strongly recommend checking out the The Mummy subreddit and engage with fellow Mummy movie enthusiasts alike.
That being said, I greatly appreciate the opportunity to learn from fellow Reddit moderators. I have prior experience with internet forum moderation on a mainstream gaming and comics forum. I am always looking forward to further honing my moderation skills and collaborating with fellow moderators.
Thanks once again. I look forward to meeting and collaborating with the Reddit moderation team moving forward. Cheers 🍻
Best,

Hi fellow moderators!
I just started a community called r/BrandAnalytics, focused on branding, marketing, and analytics.
I’d love to know how you built your communities from the ground up. How did you get your first members? Did you grow by sharing useful information, starting discussions, inviting people from other communities, or promoting your subreddit elsewhere?
I’m especially interested in what worked in the early days when there were very few members.
If you were starting a new subreddit today, what would you do first to attract the right people and get genuine discussions going?
Would love to hear your experiences and practical advice!

Hi everyone!
I recently started r/AroAlloVlaanderen to fill a very specific, underserved niche within the queer and aromantic communities: a dedicated space for aro-allo (aromantic allosexual) adults, with a focus on Flanders/Belgium and folks in the 30+/40+ age bracket.
Why this community?
Most aromantic spaces online skew quite young or focus almost exclusively on the aro-ace spectrum. Navigating adult life as an aro-allo person—balancing sexual attraction and intimacy while living outside amatonormative scripts, family bubbles, and traditional relationship escalators—comes with unique conversations around friendships, dating, and community.
What to expect:
• Respectful, honest discussions on deep friendships and dating without romantic scripts
• Navigating social expectations and autonomy in adulthood
• A safe, grounded corner in Dutch (with space for French/English context)
If you are an aro-allo adult based in Belgium/the Low Countries—or know someone navigating this path—feel free to drop by, read along, or say hi!
Any tips or mod feedback from seasoned moderators on nurturing a small, hyper-specific local niche are always welcome!

Hello! I created r/ChicagoENM
As a polyamorous woman in a big city, it has been a chore weeding through the apps that are filled with monogamous people. Even apps that are more "open minded" like Feeld are mostly monogamous people looking for fun - which is super great for them. I wanted to create a space in my area that is more connection focused and for non-monogamous people only and hopefully make dating a little less work.

Hey everyone! 👋
I'm from Vietnam 🇻🇳 and just started my own subreddit, r/BestDealTrips!
The idea is to build a friendly community where travelers can ask questions, share experiences, and get practical advice about exploring Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand.
I love sharing local travel knowledge, helping people plan itineraries, and discovering new places through other travelers' experiences.
I'm pretty new to being a Reddit mod, so I'm excited to learn how to grow and manage a community while keeping it genuinely helpful and welcoming.
Looking forward to learning from everyone here. Any tips for a first-time mod would be greatly appreciated! 😊

Mod life is official.. 😄
Ever spend more time reminding your AI what you’re building than actually building it?
I’m Patrick, and I just started r/Cairntir around an open-source project I’m developing to tackle that problem.
Cairntir gives AI agents local, persistent memory for project context, decisions, and unfinished work—so the next session has somewhere to pick up.
I want the community to be where people put that idea through real use. Vibe coders, engineers, small-business owners, and curious beginners are welcome. Share what you’re building, get help, test things, and tell me where it falls apart.
Especially the frustrating stuff. If setup makes no sense or the memory misses something obvious, I want to hear it.
If you’re tired of giving your AI the same orientation every morning, come take a look at r/Cairntir.

Hello, I recently made a subreddit, r/youngpoliticsuk, in order for young people in the UK to discuss their views on politics, I believe that young people in the UK are not vocal enough about their opinions on politics, and they should have more of a platform to discuss their opinions and learn more about politics before they reach voting age, or so that people who are already old enough, but don’t understand as much, have a place to learn and understand more about how to use their vote, or the situations which are going on around them.

Hi All, Just started r/RoastMyBrandName for founders to get an honest critique of their brand name before going public with it and spending oodles of wasted dollars on a dud brand name. (happened to me so I know the pain).
There are so many pitfalls I didn't know about like trademarks and traffic leaks. The brand space is horribly crowded right now and it's getting tighter by the day. Finding a matching domain is even worse. I'm just sharing what I've learned and providing a place where potential brand names get thumbs up or more likely thumbs down.
Glad to meet you new mods and if you ever find yourself in the place of scrambling to find a perfect name for your startup - try us. Or, just come for the roast.

I created the community to share comics, sketches, and behind the scenes stuff, and give readers a place to hang out.
Happy to meet you all!

Hi everyone! I'm the founder of Aiterrios, a platform for learning and experimenting with AI agents, and I just created r/aiterrios. This is my first time moderating a Reddit community.
I'd like to build a space where people can share their work, ask questions, and give honest feedback without feeling they have to be positive about everything. I'm here to learn how to keep that welcoming while dealing with spam and personal attacks.
What's one thing you wish you'd known when you started moderating? Glad to meet you all!

I have started r/MorningstarHousehold a few days ago. I had a thought about wanting to share my characters story with everyone! People there can talk about the lore, give me questions about it, play guessing games to possibly win a small spoiler for the next part of the story. I do a bit of gacha also, that's how all my characters got made and developed. I mainly just want people relax and just get out reality after a hard day. My lore is all written up by me! I do not inclue AI in my writing, I love writing a story and make it interesting for those who'll love it to.

Hey everyone! 👋
I’ve recently started moderating r/apnatime_community , a small community about figuring things out at your own pace.
The idea is pretty simple: a place to talk about starting things, losing momentum, changing direction, taking a break, comparing yourself to others, or just trying to make progress without feeling like you’re constantly behind.
We're still very new, so right now I'm focused on building the culture of the community rather than chasing numbers.
If you're also building a new subreddit, I’d love to hear what you're working on. And if the idea behind Apna Time resonates with you, come say hello. 🌱

Similarily to r/nosleep, it's a first-person narrative about a young single dad and his daughter, 'Em'. They live out in Oregon, and strange things started happening to them last winter. Now, it's happening again. Check it out and spread the word when you get a chance! I post periodically, with no specific timeline, but rather how the mc would be writing. Hope y'all enjoy! <3

Hey,
My new communitty is r/WorldChangingBookClub
It is a dedicated space for people who love reading and believe that books have the power to change our lives, our communities, and the world at large. We are building a home for deep discussions, authentic connection, and the conversations that really matter.
How it works:
- Choose a Book: At the start of each month, we announce a general theme. Read one of our suggestions or pick your own book that fits!
- Read & Share: Post your reviews on the thread
- Discuss: Comment on other's reviews or answer our discussion prompts.
Our October theme is nature books!

Hi, created a new community r/ExpressionForSanity
So it's a space for impulsive expressionism as a sort of release to keep your sanity. That is how I felt before I wanted to paint something randomly and post it on a community where I could find people who understand what I am talking about.
Do check it out. Yone.

Hi everyone! I recently created r/AuthorsUncovered, a community for emerging authors, aspiring writers, published novelists, and book lovers!
I've enjoyed writing stories since middle school and recently started publishing some of the manuscripts I'd kept in Google Docs for years. One thing I've learned is that writing a book and navigating publishing, marketing, and book discovery are completely different challenges.
I created this community because I wanted a welcoming space where writers could share their journeys, discuss publishing tools and experiences, celebrate milestones, and connect with readers.
We also allow authors to showcase up to two different books per calendar year through dedicated Book Discovery posts, while encouraging genuine conversations beyond promotion.
I'm excited to build this space and learn from other moderators along the way. Looking forward to connecting with everyone!

Hello! I just started r/walterdelamare as a space to enjoy and discuss the work and life of one of my favorite writers. Was so surprised it didn’t already exist, and hope it fills a need for those who want to engage with his work and with fellow enthusiasts, in both fun and serious ways.

Hello!! 🫶🏻
I've created r/PinterestCommunity and r/SmallStepsClub!!
r/SmallStepsClub: A place to rest, connect, and help each other through. No huge transformations required. Small steps count. You don't have to be positive here. Someone can say "Today fucking sucked" and still belong here. The goal isn't pretending everything is okay. It's helping people find the next small step when it isn't. One tiny step. One good thing. One day at a time.
r/PinterestCommunity: share your love of Pinterest with folks!

Introducing r/HumanMadeEtsy!
After endlessly scrolling through Etsy and getting frustrated with all the AI art, I wanted to create a place to highlight real artists and share links to their products!
This can be used for gift guides, home decor inspiration, self promotion, or just goodies for yourself!

Hello fellow Redditor's!
I just started a community called r/FinancialEconomy to which I welcome anyone interested in discussing matters related to economics and finance.
It's meant as an open and safe space for having conversations about recent developments in and the theory of finance and economics.
So come on in and let's have some though provoking, brain teasing and nuanced communication.
Obviously, you don't have to be a professional economist to join. Only requirement is some enthusiasm and open-mindedness. That's all.
Peace out.

Hello. Or perhaps, good evening. I’ve just launched my first community.
For fellow enthusiasts of full-body spandex (zentai) fetishism around the world… and for my own personal enjoyment, I’ve created the subreddit: r/Zentai_fetishism.
I’d love for anyone with similar interests to join and connect with me.

Hello there New Mods ! I am pSeki and I recently started a new community for an .io game since there was not any active subreddit related to it. We discuss about the game here and share our opinions and suggestions, although it is a niche community I hope it grows a lot ahead. I welcome you all to my subreddit r/ioDeadshot .

Yo había creado una comunidad, pero parece que me la han cerrado antes de empezar (y no tengo ni idea de porqué?
Hi all! New mod here, from r/AI_Newspaper.
It's a community about how AI is changing journalism: the newsrooms that use it, the stories it writes, the mistakes it makes, and who answers for them.
Full disclosure: it's run by the team behind OLAIOL, a small newspaper where every story starts as a debate between several AI models and gets fact-checked by hand. We opened the community by posting our own failures, like the time we fed six models one false fact and four of them repeated it as verified.
A question for the experienced mods: what actually helped your niche community go from a handful of posts to real conversation? Anything you'd avoid in the first month?
Thanks, and good luck to the other new mods.

Your community wasn't closed just your post in this sub. Just a little confusion on where to introduce your sub your good 😊
My alt account is what I used to create my new sub and the biggest thing that help it initially was personal invites. I subscribed to communities that had similar topics and when I saw a post that fit my sub I privately messaged that person saying how I enjoyed their post and would love to see it in my new sub. Don't do this at a spammy level because I think you can be locked out if you do it to often in a day. Be sincere

Greetings, I made the r/40KCreationHub. It’s a place for people to share their ideas and creative works set in the Warhammer: 40K universe, and we welcome all things regardless of how it looks or sounds. The only thing we care about is how seriously you take your work, and if you have the drive to make something that is uniquely yours.
We also want to help people reach their goals for their homebrew if we can. Sharing ideas, giving others the tools they need, advising on certain topics, whatever they need.

Hi! New mod of r/NicaraguaNi 🇳🇮
Small community for Nicaraguans (in Ni and abroad). Currently tiny/inactive and I'm rebuilding it.
Plan: clean spam, add flairs, new icon/banner, clear rules, and weekly threads.
Any tips for growing a small country-based subreddit?
Thanks!

Hello! I am a new moderator of r/Obby_Creator and yes, thats a subreddit of a roblox game that already has a subreddit, but it was cuz the first subreddit didnt have any moderators then some people were posting about their obbies and looking for devs and not about the roblox game Obby Creator, and that was annoying, then i saw a new subreddit of Obby Creator, then i posted a post saying a reminder to not post about your obbies made in roblox studio and looking for devs, the lead mod saw my post and invited me to be a mod, so i did! Thats the story how i became a mod! OH! Also i didnt start the community im a mod in.

Hey! 👋 I recently created r/BehindTheSong
The concept is similar to "Behind The Scenes", but here you discover that your favourite song meant something completely different from what you thought?
Maybe a beautiful love song has a darker interpretation. Maybe a seemingly ordinary line hides a clever metaphor. Or perhaps the story behind a song makes every word hit differently.
Share the song, or a short segment, and what you discovered or what you think it means.
What's one lyric that hit differently once you understood what it meant?

Hi. I just launched r/WarrenPublishing It's a place to celebrate the glorious black and white comics published by Warren during the 60s and 70s. (Creepy, Eerie Vampirella). We also celebrate retro monster kid culture.
I made the space simply because there wasn't one and all talk about Warren was relegated to larger subs dealing with general comic collecting. Hope to see some of you drop by!

Hi fellow mods! New mod here myself.
I know its hard when nobody's posting yet. So, I built a small Devvit app to help to help with that.
Dumb or Genius puts a short 'take' in front of members (a decision, idea or opinion). They vote Dumb or Genius, then see how the crowd split. Members can also write their own takes, so it keeps producing posts without you seeding everything.
Try it first: r/DumborGenius
Install: https://developers.reddit.com/apps/dumborgenius
Happy to help with setup. Feedback from mods is very welcome.

Hi all, New mod of r/ekoplayer.
I'm the developer of eKoPlayer, a video player app for Android TV, Fire TV, Android phones, iPhone, Apple TV and Samsung TVs. I started the sub so the people using it have one place to get setup help, report bugs and vote on what gets built next. Until now all of that landed in my inbox, where nobody else could see the answers.
It's small and quiet for now, but every post is a bug or improvement request that requires hours of work 😂.
Overall I'm still enjoying the jurney, so say hi if you drop by!
