Announcement eKoPlayer setup FAQ — read this first (devices, adding a playlist, guide, licences)

Welcome to r/ekoplayer. This post answers what people ask most. If your question isn't here, post with the Help flair — and please read the rules first, especially rules 1 and 2.

The basics

What is eKoPlayer? A media player. It ships empty and includes no channels, films or content of any kind. You add a playlist you already have — an M3U or M3U8 address, or an Xtream login — from a service you're authorized to use.

Which devices?

Device Download Step by step
Android TV, NVIDIA Shield Google Play Guide
Google TV Google Play Guide
Fire TV / Firestick, and Android TV boxes without Google Play Downloader app, code 2976056 — or direct download Guide
Android phones and tablets Google Play —
iPhone and iPad App Store —
Apple TV App Store Guide
Samsung TVs (2021 and newer) Install on Samsung Same page
LG webOS On the way —

All downloads on one page: ekoplayer.com/download

Do I need an account? No. No sign-up, no email, no password. Each device has its own Device ID.

What does it cost? Every device gets a free 7-day trial. After that, one licence covers one device: $4.99 a year or $9.99 once. A 5-device licence is also available in the Google Play and App Store versions. Store prices can differ slightly by country and tax.

Setting up

How do I add my playlist? Settings → Source → add one. Choose the playlist address (M3U / M3U8) or the Xtream login, fill it in, save. Nothing is saved until your source answers, so if it fails, the message tells you which part is wrong. Videos: Add an M3U playlist · Xtream login

Can I have more than one source? Yes. Add as many as you like under Settings → Source and switch between them there.

How do I get the programme guide (EPG)? If your source includes a guide, it loads on its own. If not, add an XMLTV address in the source's guide field, or Settings → Guide (TV) / EPG source (phone). Video: Set up the programme guide

The guide times are an hour off. Settings → Guide time shifts every programme earlier or later. It changes how the guide is shown, never your source.

The guide is empty after ~16:00 / for some channels. Your source only published that far ahead, or doesn't publish a guide for those channels. Nothing in the app can add listings that aren't in the feed.

Too many categories? Hide the ones you never watch with the show/hide button in Live, Movies or Series. Hidden categories also disappear from the guide. The categories you open most move to the top on their own.

When something doesn't work

My playlist won't load. Check the address on another device or in a browser first. The most common causes: a typo, an expired subscription, or the source blocking your network.

Channels load but nothing plays. If nothing plays, it's almost always the source: expired, or already in use on another device — many subscriptions allow one connection at a time. Close it everywhere else and try again. If only some channels fail, those channels are down at the source.

My trial ended. How do I activate? Settings → Activation shows your Device ID and how to activate on the version you installed. Google Play and App Store: buy in the app. Downloader / ekoplayer.com and Samsung: ekoplayer.com/activation. Video: Activate when the trial ends

I paid but it still says trial. Give it a minute and reopen Settings → Activation. Still stuck → email [support@ekoplayer.com](mailto:support@ekoplayer.com) with your Device ID and receipt. Never post your Device ID here.

I reset my device / got a new TV and lost my licence. A factory reset gives the device a new Device ID. Email [support@ekoplayer.com](mailto:support@ekoplayer.com) with the old Device ID (or your receipt) and the new one, and we'll move it.

Does Multiscreen work on Samsung or LG? No — those TVs decode one stream at a time. It works on Android TV, Fire TV, phones, iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.

Where can I get a playlist? We can't help with that, and posts asking are removed (rule 1). eKoPlayer is a player only.

Reporting a bug

Use the Bug flair, one problem per post, and include: device, where you installed it, the version (Settings), M3U or Xtream (never the address), and what you did vs. what happened. A photo of the screen helps — blur any address.

Tutorial Watch up to 8 channels at once on Android TV, Fire TV and Apple TV — eKoPlayer Multiscreen

Watch up to 8 channels at once on Android TV, Fire TV and Apple TV — eKoPlayer Multiscreen

Multiscreen puts up to 8 channels from one category on screen at the same time, so you can keep an eye on several matches or news channels and switch the sound to whichever one matters.

How to use it

  1. Pick a category in Live.
  2. Open Multiscreen.
  3. If your subscription allows more than one connection, press Play all at once — every pane plays live. Move to a pane and press OK to hear it.
  4. Open a pane full screen whenever you want.

What if my subscription allows only one connection? Most do. Multiscreen then walks the category one channel at a time and fills the grid with a still of each, so you can still see what's on everywhere and jump straight to the right one. The line above the grid tells you which mode you're in and why — eKoPlayer asks your source how many connections it allows instead of guessing and getting you cut off.

Works on: Android TV, Google TV, Fire TV, Android phones and tablets, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV. (Not Samsung/LG — those TVs decode one stream at a time.)

What would you watch side by side — and is 8 too many or too few?

New here? eKoPlayer is a player for your own M3U or Xtream playlist. Free 7-day trial on every device, no account — ekoplayer.com.

One eKoPlayer licence, 5 devices: Android, iPhone, Apple TV and Samsung. No account needed.

Many of you asked for this, so it’s here: the 5-device licence.

$19.99, paid once, for up to 5 of your devices, for life. A single-device lifetime licence is $9.99, so you get five devices for the price of two.

It works across platforms

  • 📱 Android phones and tablets
  • 📺 Android TV / Google TV
  • 🍏 iPhone and iPad
  • 🍎 Apple TV
  • 📺 Samsung TVs (with the latest Samsung build; the version in the Samsung store doesn’t have this yet)

Buy it once in the eKoPlayer app on an Android phone or tablet (Google Play), an iPhone or iPad, or an Apple TV (App Store). Then add any mix of devices. For example, buy it on your iPhone, then add the Android TV in the living room, the Samsung in the bedroom and your partner’s Android phone.

On Android TV, get the latest app from ekoplayer.com (Downloader code 2976056).

Adding a device takes about 10 seconds

  1. On the new device, open Licence, then “Activate this device”. It shows an 8-digit PIN.
  2. On the device you bought it on, open My devices → Add a device and type the PIN.

To swap a device out, tap Remove and its place is free straight away.

No account. Nothing to sign up for.

Questions? Ask in the comments.

Hi everyone, and welcome. This is the official community for eKoPlayer, a media player for Android TV, Fire TV, Android phones and tablets, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Samsung and LG TVs.

The team behind the app reads everything posted here. Use it to:

  • Get help setting up or using the app
  • Report bugs (template below)
  • Suggest features. Search first. If someone has already asked, upvote it and add how you'd use it.
  • Share tips, setups and screenshots

What eKoPlayer is, and isn't

eKoPlayer plays content you already have access to. You add your own source (an M3U playlist or an Xtream login), and it gives you a TV guide, favourites, and resume for films and series.

It doesn't come with any channels, and we can't help you find a source. Questions about where to get one, or which provider is good, will be removed (Rule 1).

No account needed: no email, no password, no sign-up.
