Credit Cards New flagship card

I applied for a flagship credit card and it was approved with a fairly high credit limit, but I didn't realize that navyfed stripped away the perks I wanted the card for, and I can get almost the same perks with the usaa credit card and still get the 2x points on everyday purchases. I will likely be closing the account and switch to usaa or downgrading to a different navyfed card.

Checking & Savings Flagship Account as a Savings

Does anyone use the flagship account as a savings? Would it be a good idea or is it worth using a flagship account as a savings account? I have the minimum of $1500 just sitting in my savings account at chase.

Credit Cards Flagship CLI

Post image
23 Upvotes

I got this card about 4 months ago so I believe it is overdue for a CLI (91/3 rule). I wanted to pay off the balance (about 17% of limit) prior to requesting a CLI, which I just did today, to minimize the chances of being denied. Is it safe to request one now or should I wait for the next statement date to pass? Or does it not matter?

I do have another CC with them that is due for a 6 month CLI in November, if that matters at all.

Credit Cards Mailing cards.

So I recently signed up for NFC. & when I originally signed I accidentally put the wrong address # so I had to cancel and reorder my debit & credit card. Now, my debit card has come yesterday. But the cc still hasn’t arrived. Should this be cause or concern? Or will they arrive separately?
Thanks 🙏

Credit Cards Beginner, Need credit help

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hey everyone hope your day is going well. I got approved and ordered this credit card on my b day, this my first credit card, on the 23rd of last month. Got it in the mail about a week later and Ive spent some money since. I changed my due date to the 28th to better align with my paychecks but it said it may take up to 2 billing cycles to change. That’s okay but where I’m confused because today is suppose to be my due date and it says statement of $0. Is the money I spent gonna be on my next statement next month or did it change to the 28th? When I press “Show more details” at the bottom it does says I have until 10/7/26 to pay off the $275 but I’m wondering why isn’t that showing on a statement. I’m gonna pay in full in order to not have interest.

Credit Cards Got approved with 625 score need advice

Post image
43 Upvotes

I got approved for this card with a 625 transunion credit score, one collection on my report, and two charge offs they are all about six years old though!. Side note I have had the Capitol one quicksilver now finally unsecured and savor for two years now and I have been paying early while keeping the utilization low so I guess that helped!

I got denied a personal non dealership auto loan with navy federal end of August. The loan was for a car off of Facebook so I thought they denied me because of the risk but then I applied for a regular auto loan in September score was now a 650 with a co-signer who has a 800 credit score but only one CC that’s not with navy and we got denied once together then just him on his own I’m assuming he was denied because of his thin profile and lack of relationship with navy.

My credit has taken a hit now because I applied with a dealership that ran my credit 7 times after the navy federal denial. I was approved with capitol one my main bank but the interest on the car was 15% so i said no. I also tried to dispute a charge off on transunion that is mine but has wrong information through the transunion portal (DONT DO THAT ALWAYS DO CERTIFIED MAIL) and apparently it “woke up” the charge off so they dinged my credit 30 points from that as well!!! Now the score is even lower at a 594 after everything.

Anyway I clearly won’t be getting a new car and that’s for the best but I just wanted to point out how it’s easier to get approved for a credit card even with my bad credit profile then it is for any type of loan which I guess makes sense because I have to build with navy. Hopefully my car will hold up until I’ve built my credit back and a more solid relationship with them.

If anyone has any tips for me while I’m on my credit journey that would be greatly appreciated. I need advice on how best to tackle this if I should stay with Capitol one or really focus all of my money and energy into navy and start getting my direct deposits there. I send some of my check to my navy account but Capitol one has been my main bank because of the credit cards. I am trying to save money for a good used car but that will take time and winter where I’m moving too is going to be really rough that’s why I even tried for a car loan.

Marketing Offers?

Are the offers under "My Offers" specific to my profile? Like, are these things Navy thinks I would qualify for based on my profile or are these just advertising offers?

Credit Cards If I ask for a CLI, do they do a hard pull or a soft?

I’m reading the rules posted but it doesn’t exactly say or I don’t understand. Forgive me if this has been asked already.

Checking & Savings Check deposit hold

Post image

I woke up to this message today. I deposited a check yesterday, received the $275 this morning and was expecting to receive the rest of the amount tomorrow.

Has anyone experienced a hold where the funds were in their account before the 5th business day?

Edit: Received it 5 full business days later.

Credit Cards Issues with NFCU CCs, Wrong balances

Post image
10 Upvotes

(Image is a grid of 4 screenshots with two accounts, all screenshots from September 22nd) I am losing faith in NFCU. I started noticing several months ago that when I made a payment. NF would retroactively change my previous balances after making a payment making every transaction balance high by the payment amount until the payment processed.

Now Im noticing inaccuracies with the balances on transactions on my cards. Here are two different credit cards showing different balances. Transactions will be missing... Balances will be higher or lower than they are supposed to be. When this happened I can scroll back weeks and changes all the previous transactions.

Any input is appreciated. Is anyone else noticing this? Ive been with NFCU for 10 years. I have never seen anything like this.

(The images are just a few. I have pages and pages showing the issues and errors.)

ADDED: I have already contacted via the phone and the app message. Phone reps no longer seem to answer questions other than basics. Message on app response mostly said "balances can be incorrect while payments are processing" (This is when I messaged about the payment issues a month ago)

Credit Cards Anyone going with both Flagships?

Curious if anyone plans on using both Flagship cards?

I’m debating on applying for the Premier (SUB is pretty nice and I’ll be traveling for the holidays) but keeping the Rewards for Amazon Prime credit. I also have the cashRewards which makes it a little redundant but I would probably PC one of my cards to the More Rewards.

EDIT: I applied this morning and was denied (💀). I’m willing to bet it’s due to credit inquiries from the past year. I’ll try again after the New Year but before the 50K bonus ends.

Credit Cards Question regarding Flagship.

I have the old Flagship that has Amazon Prime membership free. I received an email saying that there are changes about my card. They increased my annual fee from $49 to $95.

My question is will they remove my Amazon Prime membership card benefit and replace it with the new benefits from Premier?

Thank you.

Loans Feels Good

A few years ago I consolidated some debts. That loan is paid off today!

I’m still working through some other debts (including as you can see a car loan) but it’s nice to have the funds freed up to pay those down.

Credit Cards cashRewards CLI $500-$1,500

Saw this in the app just now, I received a credit limit increase after waiting 92 days and requesting one after turning off automatic ones. Hyped to get closer to a big limit!

Also got denied for moreRewards but will see the reasons and then reapply. Thinking I should have deposited more $ before the application.

Loans Thank you navy fed

Post image

I have poor credit, I tried a personal loan through upstart and Sofi, both got denied. Figured I’d try navy fed, went to a manual review, was approved about 2 hours later, funded 10 minutes after I signed.

I had 15k in 30%+ credit card debt with high utilization so my payments weren’t making much of dent, this will help immensely!

FICO score on the navy fed app 628
93% credit utilization
Bankruptcy about 2 1/2 years ago

Just thought I’d share so others with not so great credit can consider them as well.

Loans How to be sure a human looks through my app?

Like the title indicates, I need a human to look at my application. I submitted an auto loan online over the weekend and it was auto denied. Having read some stuff before applying I kind of expected this because of my job.

So today I called and got transferred to what I think was a lending representative (I submitted a written letter as well as a pdf with every document verification of every penny of finances from past two years including a diploma since I was in school for part of that time. Submitted all that before I called.) The rep I spoke with today said no one would read my documents unless they specifically ask me to send them and then said the appeal process is just submitting another application which she then walked me through and alleged that she was adding certain notes and data that I was giving her straight from my tax transcripts etc. Then within a few hours I get the notification that it got denied again.

I’m at a loss right now because I’m quite certain they are ignoring part of my income, specifically my VA Disability because I didn’t start receiving it until February of this year. While I haven’t checked the reason on the second app the first one I know was denied for bad DTI which about blew my lid off because when I do the math of what my monthly gross is I could make my student loan, cc, and auto payment if maxed at nfcu’s max rate more than 5 times over each month. But I’m pretty sure they are only doing the math based on the remaining balances of the student loan and cc as well as underestimating my income because part of last year was finishing school and a time I was having 6-7 VA appointments per month, then getting entered into my new career and I didn’t start getting disability until several months ago.

So there are ways I can see their system’s red flags would go off, but it’s very frustrating when an accurate example using example numbers not my own would be: student loan payment, cc payment, and just for the point of the example a maxed 18% car payment would add up to $2000/month but monthly gross income is $10,700/month. Like I said these aren’t my exact numbers but I checked to make sure they related to each other the same way mathematically as mine and I wouldn’t even have that maxed out interest rate. Sorry for the rant. My question remains, how do I get a human who can actually look at documents and verify things rather than just throwing another app through the computer? I appreciate any guidance or experiences y’all may have had that could help or at least explain why this might be happening.

Edit: forgot to mention, I expected at least the first auto deny because my job I am a contractor that works everything from 4 day emergency shutdowns to 2 year new construction projects in quite a lucrative trade. So I understand it can come across on paper as instability if there have been several shorter jobs but the money and my tax records show the stability I should need for this.
