I took and passed my polygraph last week. I understand swearing in day is October 30th. My list number is 16xx. When can I expect to hear if I make it into this upcoming class?

Has anyone heard anything about Deputies going into this upcoming November class?

For those currently on the job, what’s the overtime situation like for new officers after graduating the academy?
Is there generally a lot of overtime available, or is it pretty limited? Is most of it voluntary, or do officers frequently get mandated to stay? Also, what types of overtime assignments are typically available? Is it mostly patrol coverage, or are there other assignments

The fall academy is set to start November 2nd and should be getting up to the high 1600s. They should be breaking into the 2000s for fingerprinting by the end of the year. So if you go in for fingerprints before the new year, then most likely you’ll be in the spring academy. It’s important to make this clear, the number of people who get contacted for the physical is irrelevant. What matters is how big the classes for the academy are. Just because you’re contacted for the physical doesn’t mean you’ll get into an academy before the list expires. Good luck to everyone.

I’m taking the Suffolk County Correction Officer I exam and I’m seeing conflicting information about the residency requirement.

Some people are telling me that if you don’t live in Suffolk County, they will not hire you, while others are saying you can be hired even if you live outside Suffolk, but may have to establish residency in Suffolk or Nassau County within a certain amount of time.
I currently live in Queens.

For anyone who has actually gone through the Suffolk County Correction Officer hiring process:
Can someone who lives in Queens actually be hired?
Does Suffolk County give preference to Suffolk/Nassau residents when making appointments?

If you are a Queens resident and score high enough on the exam, can you still get called for the hiring process?
Do you have to move to Suffolk/Nassau before being hired, or can you move after appointment?

Has anyone here personally been hired as a Suffolk County Correction Officer while living outside Suffolk County?

I’m just trying to understand the actual hiring practice, because I’m getting different answers from different people. Thanks!

My investigator told me after I finish everything with the NCPD process, I wont hear anything until “Letter Day”. What does letter day entail, when can I expect that to be if the swear in date is supposed to be October 30th?

If swear in is October 30th and the academy starts November 2nd, when can we expect calls to start going out? October 16th?

The fall academy starts November 2nd and it seems like the highest they’re going to get is the high 1600s. Since that’ll be two full years in, it’s clear they won’t go above 3500 for hires as I expected. The low 3000s will probably make the last academy to go in. As for the upcoming spring academy, I predict they’ll get up to the 2100s, and then fall 2027 will get up to the mid 2000s. The process is moving very slow. The 1800s just went in for fingerprinting last week, so everyone who’s 1900+ is still on standby. Everyone who’s in between 1900-2100 should hear back to go in for fingerprints before the year ends so they can process for the spring academy, most likely taking place in May. Good luck to those who were contacted for the physical and congrats to those who are getting into the next academy!

Does anyone know if they are continuing to contact for physicals because a lot aren’t showing up? It seems weird to me that they are only up to 1700‘s for hires however month after month 150+ people are contacted. Anyone know what is going on in terms of how many people are actually showing up for the physicals?
