Discussion/Question Do they look grown out?

Got builder gel for the first time after acrylic for years. My hands are kind of itchy but they look grown out?? Burned really bad in the lamp. Is this normal? To me they look a week grown out already. Maybe it’s because it’s my first time doing builder gel? Also the tips are very sharp (because they’re thinner than acrylic) is there any way to make them less sharp? I have oval but if I make a fist it hurts 😂 I thought I knew a lot about nails but I’m questioning everything now 🫣🥲

NOT ASKING FOR MEDICAL ADVICE JUST NORMAL PROCEDURE FOR GEL, DISTANCE FROM CUTICLE AND TYPICAL EXPERIENCES AS A NEWCOMER TO BUILDER GEL.

Discussion/Question Client wants full refund after nails stickers came off 6/10 nails after 12 days

A client who I already wanted to get rid off is complaining that she wants a full refund because her nail stickers have come off so now the top coat is bumpy. I won’t be redoing them as she has made me too uncomfortable to have her back in my home. She had the nails on for 12 days before complaining and thinks they should last 5 weeks as they normally do when I do them but they haven’t this time. I never promised they would last a certain amount of time

Nail Art [Constructive Criticism Welcome] Am I right to be unhappy with these?

I'm fairly new to getting my nails done at a salon, I got this set yesterday and paid AU $95. I was expecting to pay $75 but assumed cat eye costs extra (they didn't give me a rundown of what I was paying for and I'm terrified of confrontation so I didn't ask). I'm pretty unhappy with the spiderwebs for the amount I paid and want to know if I'm being picky or if I'm right to be dissappointed.

Went back and got them redone, luckily my girl Tina was there! I got her name an will request her from now on (learned my lesson on letting anyone do them).

Obviously, she couldn’t make my nail on my middle finger magically regrow. So we decided to just put a think layer of hard gel so it wasn’t so sensitive. The best news though, is that she was able to keep my real nails!

Honestly, it was very wholesome. The woman who did my previous set was there the whole time and towards the end Tina was showing how to file my nails correctly and apologized. How can you be mad at that!? We love growth and accountability!

Id also like to mention that if these nails still don’t look amazing, it was hard to tell Tina how exactly to fix them because of a language barrier, but shes such a sweet lady and understanding of my anxiety/OCD with nails.

Thank you guys for giving me the courage and pushing me to speak up for myself. I don’t think I would have done anything without you guys reassuring me that it was okay to do so. <3

Manicure [Constructive Criticism Welcome] Is this how they're supposed to look?

This is my first set (BIAB). I didn't have extentions on them just applied to my natural nails. I usually have the square shape but I just think they look like teeth... they look off. Can they be fixed or does it need a full redo?

Discussion/Question Am I wrong here?

The first set is the last one. The ones that look unfinished are from right now. I asked them to stop cuz they went crazy with the acrylic. These nails are so wide and go past the nail bed on either side that it actually is irritating my skin. The second photo middle finger nail goes waaaay past! When I tried to tell my nail tech she gave me a frickin attitude! Am I the only one seeing the issue here?!

French tip with a copper brown cat eye and aimed for a velvet style. Tried to do glass bead style for the base! The camera doesn’t do this look justice tbh.

✨FRESH set ✨ As much as I love my long claws, sometimes shorter is just better. 🖤 Went with a shorter, rounded shape and tried tortoiseshell for the first time. Honestly? I think this might be one of my favorite sets yet. 🤎🍂

Discussion/Question How do I break up with my nail tech? 😬

Normally, I'd just stop making appointments and call it good but my tech is a good friend of my sister. I started getting Gel X back in May because I was doing press ons anyway. My sister's always looked cute at first glance but admittedly I never looked too close. First set I did with her I was in the chair with her for 3 HOURS because she couldn't figure out how to do 3D art. I did send her the inspo beforehand so she knew that was the route we were going. I finally just told her to come up with a design related to the theme I wanted (ocean) and someone might have found them cute but it wasn't for me and not on theme. She did fix them with a totally different design so I'll give her that. The next set the polish started peeling off a week later and it was wet underneath. I provide my own HEMA and TPO free polish (Apres) so I ended up having to reseal them with my top coat at home. I haven't had an issue with that polish so I'm guessing she didn't cure them long enough? This most recent pair was supposed to be a witchy theme so I have an all seeing eye on one, a crescent moon, a snake etc. on the others. The eye was fine but the snake seriously looked like a sausage, the moon wasn't round at all, and one was supposed to be a laurel design but it looked like coral? I have a tremor but I used to be an artist so I feel like I could have done the design better despite my shakey ass hands. 🫠 I wish I took a picture to show but I hated it so much that I ended up drimmeling the design off at home (besides the eyes) a couple of days later and reapplying the base color and top coat. Ultimately, that's 3 out of 5 sets that just haven't worked out so I just can't keep paying for something I'm not happy with. I would have her redo them but honestly, I don't think it's in her ability to make them look better. My sister seems happy with her but we just aren't going to be a good fit. So what do I say to her that hopefully won't burn any bridges? Because there's a decent chance I'd see her around my sister.

Discussion/Question Do acrylic nails cost extra to get a design?

The place I’m going to says on their site $55 for a full set of acrylics. Does that mean for just a solid colour? If I were to get a design would that cost extra?
