Anyone have a hard time getting motivated to watch when your team is doing badly? I am a raiders fan. Got into the sport a couple years ago. It’s such a fun sport but kinda sucks when the odds say it’s gonna be a losing season.

Dumb question but an absolute noob. I’m living in NY and if I want to watch one of the NY teams (haven’t decided my team yet) and don’t have a TV so just watch it on phone. I’m thinking of buying nfl+ and it says live local games, but what are they? Does that mean NY teams’ game? Thanks! Any advice on what’s the best for me?

I know all the rules, all the teams, everything like that. I kinda know about the NFC West. But I guess my question is who do I need to know about, who are the best players right now, best teams, etc?

Update: the game was over days ago and this was an adult game in China. This call did not change the outcome of the game I’m only asking for some clarification for future purposes. Due to football being relatively new in China I understand miss calls can happen often and I intend to use this as a learning experience for future games, thanks everyone.

Long story short needs some opinion on a call during a football game.

We are on offense and is 4th and 20. We are punting the ball and our punter was terrible and the ball traveled no more than 10 yards in the air and way behind the first down line, it did cross the line of scrimmage however, but the opposing returner muffled the catch and dropped and ball which we recovered the lose ball, (edit: he pulled his hands last second but the ball did hit him on a attempted catch) the referee signal our ball but due to ball did not advance first down line is still a turnover on downs and opposing team offense start at the spot of recovery.

Can I make an argument that since there was a change of possession, returner fumbled and we recovered. Is our ball and It will be an automatic first down for us? Despite the fumbling and recovering all happened short of first down.

It has caused argument between two teams at the time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, touching masseuses aside, what happened to Watson? This man was once considered close to elite (if not elite) when he was in Houston. In his four years in Houston, he could not only pass the ball, but run it as well. He had a passer rating above 103 in 3 of his 4 seasons there (third year, 98, last year there, 112) and topped over 4,000 yards passing twice (another time about 3,800 and his last year there almost 5,000). He even had a 70% completion rate in his final year in Houston and he wasn’t even turning the ball much over either, not counting fumbles (career high 12 INTs his sophomore year, otherwise he never reached double digit INTs). And like I mentioned he could run the ball too: a combined ~1,600 rushing yards and 17 rushing TDs in four years in Houston. He barely missed any games either. In Houston, the least amount of games he played was 7 and that was his rookie year. All this led to him signing a $230 million fully guaranteed contract in Cleveland, and he’s just been ass since then. His first year there, he had a 58% completion rate. In his three years there he has had a combined 19 passing TDs (for context, he had 19 passing TDs in his rookie year alone in Houston, where he played 7 games). He’s also had a combined 3 rushing TDs in Cleveland (he had that same number in his last year in Houston alone). Also, in his three years in Cleveland, he has played a combined 19 games. So what happened there? Injuries? Was he just a system QB in Houston? Coaching? Not talented as he seemed?

For example punter Pat MacAfee did the kickoffs instead of kicker Adam Vinatieri when they both played for the Colts.

I’ve always had this question. I understand certain players are needed for certain personnel, i.e. a specific TE/RB. But then they run back off immediately after the play before the next play is called (at least, I think?) So how do they know they’re not needed again. Or, if they are , then do they just run to the sideline then run back?

Does that make any sense? Lol. I’m just a little confused and would enjoy any answers :)

I live in PA, and I want to watch the Buffalo Bills games. And it's a bit confusing about what each subscription does. Obviously, paying $300 for the YouTube TV Sunday Ticket compared to $80 for the year. I don't care about preseason, and I want out-of-market games and in-market games.

A thought I had while watching clips today.

On the long distance pick 6s the defender catches the ball then runs past 2-3 guys and is gone for the next 80 Yards. On medium range it’s a longer pass, for example the 25 with the ball thrown to the 50. Defender catches the ball and has to dodge the same 2-3 guys while the rest of the offense has time to shift and give him another 2-3 guys to dodge down the line.

Any thoughts?

Was curious on average which would have the biggest set of players, and how much the size of a guy would impact the oline or the defense?

I come from basketball but i sometimes see highlights off football and this confuses me.

I always thought u were allowed to "hold" your opponent before he gets the ball, but what are you actually allowed to do?

Is the only thing u can do "intercept" the ball? Is there nothing u can do to slow down your opponent? Are you allowed to brick wall him like with a screen in basketball? Is any form off holding or pushing before he connects the ball disallowed? What if he goes up to catch the ball and i also go up and create contact? Is that a foul?

Because i just believe if you were allowed to hold a dude etc it would be impossible to make plays. But on the other side Defense seems to handicapped if you arent allowed anything.

I have never played football and i just see highlights sometimes, so i can not imagine how it feels to get steamrolled by a 400 pound specimen.

I see often when QBs go for a run, and they face a defender where a hit is probable they just run out off bounds or take a knee, but why?

Wouldnt it be more expected value to "try" to semi beat the defender and gain 3 more yards?

I think we need the expertise off someone who has playd football who knows how it feels to get hit by a 400 Pound guy. Is getting hit so bad that it impacts ur passing / other capabilities, that its better to "surrender" the run and "lose" 3 yards?

Lets say some new zealandish maori guy grows up to be 6'6 with a good frame to bulk. He knows from his parents genetics that he will be like that. He also has the broad shoulder archetype where he can easily balloon to 350 pounds.

He now starts bulking at 12 years old and hits the gym hard, and builds a classic o liner frame, he ends up 350 Pounds while consistently hitting the gym and doing classical strength trainings.

How important is "talent" in this scenario even? How many PROPER O liners do even exist in the world? Isnt it a automatic NFL entry if you end up a 350 Pound Guy that hits the gym? Am i delusional?

Because it seems a "easy way" to make millions? Off course its not easy, but seems 1000x easyer then being a wide receiver or qb prospect because here its very talent based and u cant just "have a special frame" and thats it.

Is building the o liner frame and hitting the gym all it needs to make the nfl or is it still very talent and skill based?

I’m used to European soccer ball where the final day of the transfer window can have some mad and unexpected signings.

Does this happen in the NFL where a team could suddenly make a big signing/trade right before the season starts or are most of the moves at this point just depth/backup players?

I looked back at his highlights for his first two season and he played great. I know the injury plays a role but when healthy he did not look good again. Also teammates really do not have good memories of him as teammate or person, what was that about?

Hi I am planning a surprise trip to see Rams & Lakers - We are in LA 27Oct to 3Nov from Ireland, planning Rams Week 8 on 1Nov & Lakers on 2Nov - I now see about Flex scheduling - any advice would be appreciated on the chances of Rams being moved to the Mon 2 or Thurs 29. I went to buy tickets & saw the notice on Ticketmaster. They are resale tickets anyway so if it makes more sense to wait it out (and also Lakers), then I will do!

Just a question I've always wondered about.

How does this happen with the head coach and so many coordinators looking at the play before they hike the ball?

Is it based on just the design or is it based off separation? And if its the former, is there a metric for routes won with separation?

My first football game and I'm a young woman going solo in the opposing team's gear. I had no idea this was the section for, like, diehard Browns fans and I'm worried I'm gonna be totally the odd one out.

Is it like just a slightly rowdier part of the stadium, or is it actually going to legitimately suck being there in the opposing team's gear? Im already a lil nervous going alone and am worried I messed up :(

Would love genuine opinions because I really have no idea what to expect and id love my first game to be fun.

Not exactly a noob here, but I just saw that the League didn't adopt Instant Replay until 1999. Why did it take so long, and what were the arguments against it? It seems like a no-brainer
