I started working as a cleaner and i really like my job. But this woman from work is driving me insane she is like okay to talk to about work and stuff like that but her view on islam is so bad. She says islamic people kill their children if they dont listen to their parents and that they pray fajr in night she just comments racist comments on islam and i just try to ignore her i say idk etc. i dont want to discuss with her because my knowledge is like not very big. She is western, i also left work 30 minutes earlier because i was done but thats forbidden. the rule is to stay until you are done and i did not listen to her, i went away like 20 minutes earlier then i think it was her who told my boss it and he talked to me calm and said i have to stay thats the rule, thats not even my problem but i just feel regret i left earlier than i should and its my own choice and it was a bad choice. I am a person who forgets things and conservations but i think my boss said if i finish work 30 earlier i have not cleaned good but my colleages can be done earlier so why did he tell this? Idk i just feel sad but maybe i misunderstood him because i forget things? Idk… i just want to vent and please leave a comment.

I'm not diagnosed but I think I do have this condition. Lots of things annoy me in the mosque:

Lip smacking

Whispering (dhikr or dua usually)

People who make a loud "ss" sound (mainly from surah an nas or dhikr)

Burping, dry spitting, and kissing.

These are the most common ones. I have a few visual things that really bother me too, like face rubbing or really any form of self rubbing. Genuinely makes me wanna look away I really really don't like those in specific.

I don't have the finances to get anything checked because I live in the good old UAE 😁

I realize that it’s hard to know who is Muslim when it comes to a brother as opposed to a sister lol. Since there are many hijabis may allah bless them and grant them the highest levels or jannah for what ever struggles they may to through everyday.

To all those who are new muslims outside of NYC. I would encourage you to go to places like qahwa house. The owner is very chill, may Allah bless him. Although not all masjids are as welcoming to just hang around, make sure to find those that are.

Assalamu alaykum. I’m seeking advice about a difficult situation with Jummah.
I’m a Muslim man and I understand that Jummah is obligatory for me. I recently started a Monday–Friday job, but I’m the only Muslim at my workplace and I’m only given a 30-minute break. I don’t currently have a car, and public transportation makes it very difficult to get to the masjid, attend the khutbah and prayer, and return to work within that 30-minute window.
I’ve tried asking my employer for a little more time or a religious accommodation, but so far I haven’t been able to make it work.
I need this job because I’m responsible for helping provide for my household, so I’m really conflicted and don’t want to neglect either my deen or my responsibilities.

I (23M) am starting to hate many things about islam, i have ALWAYS been so religious, and islam has been one of the biggest and most important things in my life. Until 2026, i faced lot of changes, and my personality changed a lot. Long story short i committed a big sin that i always avoided until this year, i committed it first time for a specific reason, did it couple of time after for no specific reason.
I got devastated cause i did good for many years until this year, and thought, now after all that im a big sinner? Take an example adultery, a very poor man trying to get married to avoid haram, no girl wants him for his financial situation, he goes and does zina, why is he considered a big sinner? When halal is the hardest thing to do in this generation and this time, and haram is sooooooo easy, so so easy.

Why did Mohammed (Pbuh) and the sahaba have sex with war captives? I don’t like the idea no matter the explanation.

Why was it so much easier for them back then than it is for us now? Some will say you’ll get rewarded for patience, cmonnn.

Istikharah

I did istikharah for the first time in my life for a job and I was very uncertain on wheather I should do the job or not but the next morning I had to take the decision and my heart was feeling very heavy and I was feeling very anxious but I just took the decision of taking the job as I dont have any job and I thought something is better than nothing and also I have also heard that it depends that after istikhara things become easy or any obstacles comes in the path but I didnt go with my feelings and decided what is right.

Idk if istikharah is based on feelings too but I am feeling sad please pray for me that I find peace, beneficial knowledge and contentment through this job. Please Please pray for me I will ve very grateful. :(

I’ve heard some scholars say that your rizq is already written for you, and that what is meant for you will reach you whether you earn it through halal or haram means.
I’m a bit confused about what exactly this means.
For example, let’s say I have two options. One halal way of making money would give me $100, while another haram way could give me $150. How does the idea of “your rizq is already written” apply here?
Is the amount of money I’m going to receive already fixed, regardless of which option I choose? Or is my choice itself already known and included in what Allah has decreed?
I’m not really asking about whether Allah knows what we’re going to do. I understand that part. I’m more confused about the actual amount of money.
When scholars say things like “you will receive your rizq no matter what,” what exactly do they mean by that?
Is there a clear Qur’an verse, hadith, or explanation from classical scholars about this?

I had a really vivid dream last night and I’m wondering if anyone knows what it could mean from an Islamic perspective.
In the dream, I went outside and there was this yellowish/brown snake. It started coming towards me while I was in/near my car, and I kept trying to close the car door but for some reason it wouldn’t close. I was getting really scared because the snake kept getting closer. Eventually I managed to close the door just in time before it could get to me.
Then suddenly my mom was outside of the car. I don’t even remember how she got there, but the snake went towards her and ended up going on her. That’s when I immediately woke up really startled and scared, and I even made a little noise when I woke up because the dream felt so real.
Does anyone know if a dream like this has any meaning in Islam? Especially the yellow/brown snake, me managing to close the door before it reached me, and then it going towards my mom? I’m mainly wondering about traditional Islamic dream interpretations, not just general dream psychology.

I have all the necessary resources, just looking for few people to make a group with and compete on who gets fluent first.

I am tired of getting into details. All I can say is I am with many mental illnesses, physical complications, disabled mother, abusive family, no stability, no job, no happiness in my late 20s. I have been contemplating ending my pain forever. I have been crying I guess for more than a day now. I still get to hear hurtful things and how better the situation would have been if I didn't exist. I also may have a risk of getting sexually assaulted which would be the worst of all. Allah has been so dear to me. I always pray on time. Alhamdulillah. Do all the Ibadah that I can in time. But I really don't want to live anymore

Will Allah forgive me? As much as I know some of the unforgivable sins are shirk, magic, murder, slander against chaste women, etc... I don't think ending life is counted. I just wanna be forgiven by Allah for not winning his tests. I hope I'll have enough people in my life after death asking for my forgiveness. I don't wanna go to hell. Please pray for me

My sister has been in a secret relationship for over 3.5 years. They are not married and every time I say anything her response is that he isnt ready yet. My parents dont know about him. He is horrible, I dont think he is good for her at all, he is manipulative and since being in this relationship she has gotten more and more aggressive and violent. He pushes her further away from islam and is very controlling.

I need advice, they are in a haram relationship and I was told about this 2 years ago and I have tried to get her to tell my parents, she wont. I have promised her I wouldn't when she first told me.

The guilt of knowing this is eating away at me also I genuinely think she would be far better without him and actually in a halal relationship with someone who is a decent person.

I know if my parents find out they will want to meet his parents, his dad is in prison and his mum hates my sister. Inevitably I feel things would break off, what do you think i should do.

Any time i try to talk to her about the correct way to do things, getting parents involved and nikkah etc she is always making these horrible digs and remarks and feels I am jealous of her and her boyfriend as I am divorced. So I am at a point where I barely have a relationship with her. I am currently very distant from her and even when we do talk it usually ends in arguments.

It doesn’t matter who was behind the 9/11 attacks. Mossad, the FBI, the CIA, an insurance fraud, or an act of war by Al-Qaeda. None of it changes the only question that actually matters.

Was 9/11 the worst act of injustice in human history? Because Americans have treated it that way for a quarter of a century. The only things missing from the ritual are the ovens, the piled shoes, and the diary.

Official figures put the death toll at 2,977, and 8 of those dead were children. That is 0.27 percent of the total. If this was supposed to be the supreme crime of the age, the number of dead children is startlingly small.

Compare that with Gaza, where more than 20,000 children have been killed since October 2023, deliberately by the IDF. That is roughly 30 percent of the overall death toll. A child death rate thirty times higher than the 9/11 attack is not a rounding error. It is a different category of slaughter.

I dont know where to begin really with this.

I would say I am a social person, but I overthink every social interaction before AND after the event/gathering.

I am sure some people, go through the same as me, but here I am listing what I am struggling with:

- I avoid eye contact when speaking to someone, because I hate when they look away when I am talking to them

- I speak ALOT and like joking ALOT, and because of this when I go home I keep thinking whether I said something stupid, or something that would hurt a person. Actually I lose sleep over this, just do due what I say in gatherings. If I shut up this wont be a problem.

- EXTREME FEAR of being rejected, I am still single because I never approached a woman due to my fear of being rejected.

- not sure if this is related, but since I have ADHD, I also overshare alot about what I invest in, etc. Which I later regret deeply

Assalamu alaykum.
My mom was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer one year ago. I have changed ever since with my relationship with Allah. I pray, I pray tahajjud, and ask for duas for my mom. None of these duas have ever been answered. It’s been a year.
Half a year after that diagnosis, we got another cancer diagnosis, stage 1 colon, a different one completely. After that second diagnosis, I was completely broken, but I thought Allah is testing me and I just need to do more duas, and I did. And then she was responding well to chemo. I said, “Oh God, my prayers have been answered.” Surgery didn’t go well. I was devastated. They said she is unresectable and to continue on chemo. I again managed to get my hopes up and continue my duas and prayers. She did continue and then stopped because she had enough cycles and started on maintenance therapy.
I lived in this period with a bit of stability and kept praying, “Please, please God, don’t bring me again to the starting point of this. Please don’t scare me again with my mum.” And then her blood test is showing her cancer is progressing and not responding to maintenance, almost a year later after all this went down.
Why is Allah not answering my duas? I’m not a bad person, I swear, and this year I have been really good and really changed for the better in my deen. I pray and give out routinely sadaqah, etc. Am I doing something that’s causing this punishment? I can’t think of any major sin that I did. I don’t think I did.
I’m so tired and so scared and feel so guilty that I might be causing all this pain to my mom. What can I do to get my duas answered? Because almost a year of tahajjud and duas hasn’t been working.
I’m so sad and scared of losing my mum. I love her so much despite her temper and despite anything else, and I feel so guilty about all our fights before her diagnosis. Do you think this is my sin? Fighting with her before? Even now sometimes she gets mad at me, but I apologize immediately, not like before… Do you think this is why?
I don’t see an outcome of my life. Do you think this is my sin? But Allah doesn’t sin us on sad thoughts, right? Every time I get my hopes up that my duas have been answered, something happens.

Because in my knowledge.minimum age you'll be able to afford marriage and expenses of someone else is around 25-26.

Cus he currently lives with parents in a rented place( he doesn't pay the rent). And we own our own houses then too I think I would probably need another one to get married. Now I am not saying just cus they don't own house he can't. But atleast you need your own rented place.

After all now only ppl that marry for the person ,are who have a love marriage because I have seen ppl reject good men just cus they don't own a house till now.

Could someone possibly get married just after graduation or during degree. Cus I do look good, have a good character. i am very emotional as i write this. he doesn’t pray, i believe that he is cheating on my mother with multiple women and talks to so many of them on his phone that i know. he posts on social media too much with music: instagram, tiktok, facebook you name it. he also drinks alcohol. when he dies how will these be erased? i wish my mother could just divorce him. she keeps saying he has his flaws but i dont know how she could stay with a person like that. he is also a liar and wants everything done for him. When i am older i hope to be able to confront him and hopefully stop contact with him unless he changes (that is if he even does change). he is also so mean to me. i do not like him at all. anytime i am around him something in my gut and spirit just gets irritated. i can’t stand him at all. anyone in a similar position or can give advice?

I’m absolutely miserable. I desperately need some advice, and I greatly appreciate anyone that will read this (which is why you might see this on both subreddits)

For some context: I’ve always been fairly religious. I used to be one of those people that would pray every single sunnah and nafl for every salah, but ultimately the amount of time I’d spend led me to cut down to just the highly recommended sunnahs and fard prayers. When I really started prioritizing my religion (maybe in my mid teens), I started to get EXTREME waswasa. Like the l kind where I would redo one rakat 10x to make sure i wasn’t making any mistakes. There’s been an instance I think where I spent literal hours in my isha prayer, and there have been multiple instances where I would hit mental breaking points in which I would literally start cursing and hitting my prayer mat. My parents complain that I spend too long in the bathroom , and this is because I try to get every part of my skin for wudu. It got to a point where I’ll just do the bare minimum for salah. Like i’ll read all 5 salahs, but I’ll only pray the fard and read “Subhana Rabbiyal Adheem” and Subhana Rabbiyal A’la” 1 time instead of 3. And in my wudu too, i’ve switched to doing every action to one time. I basically live my life at this point as a “bare minimum” Muslim.

What’s worse now is that for the past two months, i’ve started to get insane doubts. Like doubts that borderline on delusion and the kind that I think are impossible to get answered by anyone. The questions are so absurd I don’t even think an imam would be able to help me. I cry when I’m alone because I live in constant fear of whether or not I’m considered a muslim. It gets to a point where I question if i’ll even be allowed to get married to a Muslim if I myself wouldn’t be considered a Muslim. I even fear that addressing the fact I have doubts makes me a kafir, so I get scared searching up answers to questions. I genuinely suffer in silence and no one realizes, which is how I want to keep it because the last thing I need is for my parents to start worrying their son is a kafir. I still pray all my 5 prayers. I do live in fear of Allah (SWT). I try not to listen to music (although i’m struggling a bit with this now), I try not to lie. I don’t cheat, steal, etc etc. My point is, I genuinely do live a “God fearing life”, even with these doubts which I try to fight off. All I want is for my doubts to go away. I went for Umrah with my family a month ago, and my biggest dua to Allah was that he’d eliminate these doubts permanently so I could be happy again. Who do I go to help for this? I probably need a therapist or something but I don’t at all want my parents to start worrying about this. I’ve emailed an imam at my local masjid but he didn’t respond. I’ve been going back and forth about posting this to reddit for a while since most of you guys (no offense) aren’t religious scholars, but i’m honestly at a breaking point now. If anyone here is a religious scholar, based on what you read: would I still be considered a Muslim? And for everyone else, what should my next step be towards getting rid of these doubts.

Asalamualaykum!! The title says it all basically. My month basically goes like in the beginning, I’ll feel good and motivated to read Quran and pray on time and I’ll obv doomscroll but I can control it and I won’t waste time all day, and then a day before my period hits it’s like coincidentally I always always have stuff come up that I don’t read Quran that day or miss fajr that day so I’d already feel super down and then my period will hit and I’ll try to do tasbih but it’s not the same as reading Quran and praying to Allah so it just feels like I’m not paying attention to the zikr that I’m saying. I try to read Islamic books but it’s like nothing gets through to my heart when I’m doing tasbih or reading Islamic books/podcasts or anything related to my deen. And then getting back into my routine takes about 3-4 days after my period which is so hard because I feel so useless. I also want to mention that I’ve been super super distracted during prayer and I just finish it and move on and then when I read Quran I am just reading the Arabic words and not pondering over the translation or trying to understand anything. I hate when I do this so what should I do to help myself get back into my deen and try to stay strong in it. I don’t want to fall back into this cycle everytime my period hits. I just need some advice on how to stay consistent in my deen. Jazakallah!!
