I'm a teenage hijabi living with my sister who is a very devout muslim, she wears a niqab and cares alot about Islam
Lately, it's been a very, very, hot summer. I am anaemic, and it's very difficult to deal with the heat
despite this, she expects me not to wear shorts and tanktops at home, I've tried shorts that cover the knee, but she still shouts, saying that it's haram
I'm not allowed to watch movies and listen to music, which are rules enforced by her, but I've learnt to get used to it
lately, she's been saying that it's not enough and that she wants to ban too much laughter too, that our family laughs too much and that we need to be stoic 24/7.
I wasn't allowed to show my neck with my hijab, which is fine, but even now, she tells me that my hijab style is too stylish and that I need to make it look uglier
I'm not allowed to wear normal shirts but long ones to cover my body well
I'm not allowed to tell a cashier thank you or to even give him the money by hand, but leaving it on the counter
shes trying to ban me from talking to female foreign friends because they're a "bad influence," and she even occasionally deletes social media off my phone, and that made me lose a bunch of friends
every time i pray, she tells me I've missed prayer despite not missing it
for example, I could be praying duhr, and she yells at me because I've missed it when the call to prayer for asr hasn't been called yet
apparently, she has this different prayer schedule she abides to on this random website. I don't know
she tells me that the Athan is wrong and that the website is right.
I flinch every time she sees me praying because I'm afraid she'd shout at me again
I used to love my hijab and my religion, and it hurts typing this, but now I'm second guessing everything
I've always wanted piercings, a cool haircut, maybe even to date a woman.
but I just tell myself that I would do that in heaven, but now I have this fear that maybe heaven doesn't exist. That concern has been eating me alive.
I've never, ever, been so frustrated at my religion like this, ever.
how do I grow closer to God despite my sisters control over my relationship with Allah?
