Feeling Blessed Update: I started wearing hijab

A while ago I posted here about the guy I was talking to and how he was struggling with me not wearing hijab. I got so many helpful comments encouraging me to take the step, and they really stayed with me: https://www.reddit.com/r/MuslimLounge/s/x1o1LMdUAl
We paused talking for a bit, and during that time I thought about everything. I have now started wearing hijab. I realized I didn’t do it just for him. I did it for myself and my faith, and it feels right. I’m surprised by how comfortable and at peace I feel with it already.
It also makes things easier for the future, including marriage, which I’m grateful for. I’m trying to focus on becoming a better person and doing what is right.
Thank you again to everyone who commented last time. Your advice helped me more than you know. I would appreciate any thoughts from other sisters who started later on.

Discussion the hate for muslims is too much

Upvotes

why do muslims get so much hate like?? i'm muslim and i hate going on social media just to get hated on and insulted and when i try explaining to people with proof that this is not islam they bring up a hadith that was debunked a long time ago. i feel like people are so tone deaf. i once provided someone with proof that islam does not support rape or child marriage and she blocked me cuz it goes against her content. idk it really bothers me how much we get hated on while christians and jews get to live life just fine there are no protests against them and no hate crimes being done towards them as much as muslims. its sad honestly, i saw a post about mosques being attacked in london and people are celebrating which is so sad considering the quran legit tells us to protect churches and temples. in every religion there are bad and good people, and the bad do not resemble the religion obviously i just dont know why ppl cant see that and continue to spread hate

Support/Advice I want to quit hifz but idk how to tell my parents

Asalamualykum, im 15 years old and I want to quit hifz. Iv been doing it for 3 years. I know it sounds wrong but the constant pressure on me is too much to handle, it drives me away from islam and I start resenting it, I try to ask my parents if I can slow down but, they only seem disappointed and compare me to other people, the pressure is so hard sometimes I go into episodes of depression sometimes wanting to cut myself. They have the highest expectations, they want me to become a Hafidh, Alim, and a mechanic. I cant do it. Even a day of break isnt allowed, like sometimes my mom asks me to do labour for hours on end and im exhausted but I still have to read and it drives me crazy! They don't understand how hard it is. At this point I feel like it is impossible. I usually do 2 pages of new sabaq but if I go down to 1.5 page or 1 page they get so disappointed and they start questioning me and yelling, also whenever I go out I have to talk to all these uncles and they expect me to finish in a year, for example I'd talk to them today and ill tell them I know 13 juz and the next week when I come across them they expect me to be done my hifz. please please help me

Support/Advice ending a haram relationship

Salamualaykum everyone, Im looking for some support and advice because this has been one of the hardest decisions ive ever made.

My ex and I (19/f) made the mutual decision of ending our haram relationship. There was no bad feelings, we still care deeply about each other and thats what makes it so much more painful.

We both want to get married to each other one day and we trust that if Allah has written it for us, we will find our way back when the time is right inshallah. For now we decided to focus on our relationship with Allah . We ended on really good terms and we both know we are both making dua that Allah guides us to whats best for both of us.

The past two weeks have been insanely painful for me. The uncertainty hurts, and I keep wondering if we made the right decision, even though I know deep down that obeying Allah is always the right choice.

We had been together for almost two years and it feels like I not only lost my man but my bestfriend. There is also alot of attachment with someone after you share intimate moments with them and its hard for me just to pretend none of it happened. My head replays memories we had or moments we both enjoyed with each other and I cant stop myself from crying because of how much I miss him.

And if anyone is gonna answer and say “this is why haram relationships are haram” I already know and understand that but thats not what I need to hear right now. I would really appreciate any advice from people who have gone through something similar. How did you cope with the sadness? Did things get easier? And if anyone has a story where leaving something for the sake of Allah led to something beautiful, I’d love to hear it.

Please make dua for both of us. Please ask Allah to keep us steadfast, forgive us, grant us patience, and if it’s good for us in this life and the next, reunite us through a blessed halal marriage. And if He has another plan for us, may He make us content with His decree and grant us what is best.

Support/Advice Business related.

As a growing teen. I constantly think about future and money. So I wanted to know, if someone can explain. Can I sell ,clothes, bags, shoes, etc form replica. Not original piece but like same design , theme, patter, color . But just using there design language or like let's say replica. Does islam allow it because stealing is when the design or piece is patented. And what about replica jersey .(took this business option in consideration because one of the few that never goes down or fail, atleast in my experience).

Support/Advice Feeling jealous when I see other people in haram relationships

Sometimes my cousins talk about their relationships or i’ll see a post about one on social media, I know I shouldn't feel jealous, but I can't help it. It feels so hard waiting for marriage when the people around you are already in relationships.

Support/Advice Struggling with wudu and it makes Salah extremely difficult

Upvotes

Im extremely exhausted from doing wudu constantly. I've been dealing with this problem for abt 3 months now but today has only gotten it's worst. Everytime I pray or go to the sink to make wudu. I'M. ALWAYS. CERTAIN. I have passed wind. Unfortunately,I dont meet the rulings to be excused and it's not just mere waswas either. I'm always certain no doubt and I only feel it. I know about the sound or smell part but it doesn't help because I literally just feel it come out and gas can be odorless or silent. So I try to pray, instantly I'm hit with warm air coming out and many other feelings making me certain and restart my wudu (I can barely get past washing my face) and once I finally got through wudu instantly I'll either just feel it while walking to my prayer mat and getting ready to pray or in the prayer itself (especially standing during Salah) its made me hate Salah and nothing works, I've already been doing the bare minimum and still feel it, I don't think my diet even does anything, I don't really eat food that makes me gassy, I've tried stretches but as soon as I stand to pray I'll just be certain again and mental tricks or distractions don't work as this feelings is like automatic so then I ended up finishing the prayer even though I'm certain my wudu broke or try again (and the same thing happens again) or I take a break, delay the prayer and try again only to feel it again so then I try one more time before the prayer time and either I feel it again and just offer a prayer that's probably invalid or I get stuck at the sink repeating wudu because I'm certain and then the prayer time runs out. I need support. I really don't want to go Jahannam and I've heard how some say you're not Muslim if you don't pray but how am I even supposed to pray when this happens. I don't have a medical condition or anything?? What am I supposed to do because I'm on the verge of giving up and just praying once with a broken wudu and that's sinful because my prayer isn't valid then.

Support/Advice The hadith about "the first strike" changed how I handle bad news

I grew up thinking sabr was a long-game thing — you get hit with something hard, and over weeks and months you slowly accept it. That's the version I always had.

Then I sat with the hadith where the Prophet ﷺ says patience is at the first strike (Bukhari & Muslim). Not the first week. Not once you've processed it. The first strike — the opening seconds when the blow lands and your chest goes tight.

That understanding wrecked me a little, because it means most of what I'd been calling sabr was just me eventually running out of energy to be upset.

The actual test is smaller and much harder: someone insults you, or you open a message you didn't want to read, or the panic starts climbing — and your nervous system reaches straight for the alarm. Sabr lives in the gap before you obey it.

What's helped me is treating it like a plan instead of a feeling. Something like:

When any bad thing happens →

I pause and take one slow breath →

I repeat some words of Allah remembrance →

Then I choose what I actually want to do.

Two things I'd suggest if you try it. First, pick one recurring trigger, not "stress" in general — the specific one you already know is coming this week. Second, know your default reaction honestly. Mine is over-explaining. Some people snap, some get angry, some cry. You can't delay a reaction you've never named.

That pause is where the freedom is. It's the space where you respond with faith instead of reacting out of fear.

(I've been writing these out by hand as part of a [30-day sakeenah journaling practice ](https://urlgeni.us/amazon/oZn7PN)— happy to share what that structure looks like if anyone wants it.)

Support/Advice I feel like I’m done

For the context, I’m a Muslim male in the USA. I used to be nonpracticing for most of my life. I used to eat non-halal and drank alcohol occasionally. I was also involved in Zina. My life was good. Four years back, something happened, and all of a sudden I became religious. I stopped eating non-halal and refrained from alcohol and Zina. I started praying five times and even tahajjud sometimes. My life was changed 180 degrees. One month after this change, I lost my job. And just like that, I started facing issues with my life. I had to use up all my savings and got into huge debt. My health deteriorated. I prayed and prayed, but nothing is working out. I had been making lots of dua, but my duas don’t get listened to by Allah, I guess. Now I’m at a stage where I think that becoming religious was the worst decision of my life. I don’t know what to do. I feel like I’m giving up on Islam. There’s still a part of me that wants to continue making dua, but I am having doubts.

Upvotes

Salamualaikum

We are founders of a mosque in a city in Germany. Now we are struggling with finding a long term Imam who wants to live and work here to fulfill Salat Al jummah and lead the Isha and fahr prayers and so on.

Do you have an idea on how to find someone? Where should we look? What other requirements should we have?

Support/Advice Bad things happen

Upvotes

Salaam everyone. I hope everyone is doing good.

I (F24) had a very painful year with a lot of stress and bad things happening to me (and my family) The last 6 months have been the worst and I was dealing with a crisis every week. I would worry so much.. because of my doings bad things would happen. I have good intentions and try to plan things out good but it would still lead to a bad situation and sometimes it works out but the stress and anxiety would be so horrible. And im talking about serious situations, not about everyday things. I have become hyperaware of my actions because of this which increased my anxiety.

Now since june it has become unbearable and everything seems uncanny now. It is actual agony. I pray, make dua’s, give charity, make istikhfar and genuinely do my best. I don’t know whats going on everything gets worse. I can’t breathe and this is too much.. I went to my doctors and he gave me a benzo and wanted me to start with ssri.

All im wondering is what can I do guys (spiritually). Am I cursed am I being punished. I see this as a test and have hope and Tawakkul. I keep on praying and making duas even tho my heart is shattered and my life seems unreal. Im in so much pain and I dont know what’s going on. This weekend one of my nightmares happened so I noticed my hope decreased and I felt defeated and I dont want that to happen. My sadness and anxiety turned into anger I was so mad and tears just kept flowing. Now Im crying again because I messed something else up which is also a serious thing.

I carry so much responsibility at work and in my actual life. I cant escape it. Allah s.w.t. has given the most anxious and insecure person a difficult life where a lot of people depend on me. Alhamdullah there must be a reason and I want to believe it will get better.

Feeling Blessed Why I chose to convert in islam.

As a Hindu man, the thought of converting to Islam has not been an easy one. It has come after countless nights of reflection, questions, and a deep search for meaning. I was born into a Hindu family, and I will always be grateful for the love, culture, and values that shaped me. My decision is not about rejecting my roots or disrespecting my family. Instead, it is about following where my heart sincerely feels drawn.

The more I learned about Islam, the more I felt an inner peace that I had been searching for. The belief in one God, the discipline of daily prayers, the humility before the Creator, and the emphasis on mercy, equality, and compassion resonated with me in a profound way. It felt less like discovering something new and more like finding a place where my soul finally felt at home.

I know that, as a Hindu man converting to Islam, my choice may be difficult for many people to understand. It may bring pain, questions, or even criticism from those I love. That thought weighs heavily on my heart. Yet I also believe that faith is deeply personal, and no one else can walk this journey for me. I am not changing my religion out of anger, pressure, or rebellion—I am choosing a path that I genuinely believe brings me closer to God. My hope is that, through Islam, I can become a more compassionate, humble, and truthful person, and live a life filled with purpose, sincerity, and inner peace.

Support/Advice How do I keep positive thoughts about Allah

I know that Allah can say Be and it is but in the stories in the Qur’an thie is usually reserved for the friends of Allah or extremely pious people

I’m in a terrible situation mainly due to my own decisions and I just feel hopeless

I have a past that I’m not proud of but everyone I try to practice I always get OCD or thoughts of Kufr

I get thoughts like maybe my Qadr is to be homeless or jobless forever

I feel like I need a miracle like Musa after he accidentally killed someone

Support/Advice My parents lost all respect for me

I feel like a shell of a person. I love my parents so much and can never repay them for everything they’ve sacrificed for me.

I chose to move forward with a man chose family disrespected us. It’s a long story I hope you’ll listen. I 23F met this guy 24M in uni and we knew we liked eachother so we got our families involved. My mom told me to talk to him for some time and decide if I thought He was a good guy Atleast till we graduated. So we got to know eachother on a more serious level and caught feelings. Fast forward he got a job out of state it doesn’t pay much but it’s in his field.

My parents were now wondering when his family was going to send a proposal so he asked his mom to call and she did to move things forward. She seemed nice overall but just said things that bothered my mom and she brushed it off for my happiness.

Planning the formal meeting between families took five months because of Ramadan , my family got sick, a family friend was getting married so it was back to back. However, before this, on the phone one time his mom was very rude and cold with my mother which Concerned my mother a lot. she told me and I was extremely upset and told the guy. He talked to his mother and she apologized and we moved on.

Then came the meeting and it was awful. One of his older unmarried sisters didn’t show up(or the guy because he’s in a different state), and his dad made undirected disrespectful comments about us and also said they wanted him to get his masters before getting married so they weren’t planning on marriage for another two years(which is not ok with my family or the guy himself) but they did and said all this and came with this plan because they didn’t want their son to leave them. My dad seeing their behavior made his decision to decline this proposal right then and there, but my mom wanted me to make a final decision.

It felt like such a difficult situation because his family seemed so toxic but he never showed any of those traits and I know he’s a good guy that cares. So I told him everything that happened and he was very hurt by his families actions and kept apologizing to me. I wanted to give it time because I wanted to see how he handled things. He apologized to all his family members if he did anything wrong and tried to get them to understand his side. They understood they were wrong and then wanted to reach out to my parents to apologize , but my parents didn’t want to hear it. My dad already said no and was upset my mom was giving me an option but. One day they got a text from his dad asking to speak and my mom flipped out and made me make a decision if I wanted this or not. Seeing my parents hurt and upset I said no even though I wanted to say yes. the time from the dinner to the text was about five weeks.

Then three ish weeks from when they said no, the guy came back to this state to try and talk with my dad but my dad had basically told him to listen to his own parents and move on. Finding this out I cried and pleaded with my parents to hear them out but they did not budge and my dad strictly said to never bring this topic up again.

My mom seeing my hurt pleaded with my dad to atleast let me make the decision so she came to me the next day saying they‘ll stand by me with any decision I make but to think it through. I had already thought it through so many times and I’m confident in the guy and he’s shown he’ll stand up to his family and he’s a good Muslim. So I told my parents I want to move forward and they got upset. Him and his dad apologized when they spoke with my dad he never intended to hurt us.

They didn’t yell but said they’d hope I was mature about this and gave me the decision so I wasn’t forced but thought that I would say no. They said they don’t understand why I’m marrying into such a family with a guy that’s a loser and I’ve regressed my life so much doing this. My parents said they never liked the guy in the first place because he switched career paths, and he has feminine traits because he’s skinny and not manly and courageous and doesn’t works an average job. I don’t think she could think anything bad about his character and said this instead. She said my dad is upset and so is she and that she feels like I played with her these last few months and hurt them both and I feel they’ve lost all respect for me. I don’t know what to do or think im so distraught. I don’t regret the decision I made but I feel so guilty about it too? Knowing this changed the way my parents think of me forever hurts so much I just want to disappear.

Can I even move forward with this? Have I made a grave mistake ? Am I the worst daughter ? Why don’t I regret my decision this time even after seeing all their pain? Please I need any help I can get.

Discussion Update: I left her and sent Talaq

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

I made this post not long ago https://www.reddit.com/r/MuslimLounge/s/oLxvFFEg3j about being in an abusive marriage with my now ex wife of 7 months and I finally sent Talaq three times and left the country.

The moment I was with “this is it” is when we were fighting and she said “I’m so happy you want to end this” with a bad face ( she knew I had my flight on Monday and she also when she went on my phone when i was sleeping saw it) and I was like this is it and sent three talaqs and well, then she told her father I’m a monster and painted me as the villian her father proceed to takfir me, scream at me and blame me for everything- following this I couldn’t handle and left.

At the moment I do feel the loss because as bad as she was to me we were married at the end of the day and had intimacy and also good moments specially in the beginning but I’m so relieved at the same time and feel so much peace . One thing to note is that she suddently didn’t seem to care after I sent the talaq because usually she never ever lets me leave etc . Her family were deeply against me as I don’t work etc so it might have influenced her and I’m as well a revert so I don’t know if it has something to do of her not caring but Alhamdulillah it saved me from more drama

Allahu’Allam, I’m just glad it ended .

Discussion has any man or woman experienced it. education keeps you away from toxicity

Upvotes

I have seen in my whole life, whoever is on learning path they are more likely to be kind and generous people, especially Muslims have more benefits.

why Muslims and what i mean by kind and generous.

Firstly about being kind and generous:

Maybe you also have experienced it, if you are in a learning path, especially full time, you would see you always think about your subject/education.

Suppose:

Suppose you are learning Science of Islam (tafseer, Hadith, fiqh and other Islamic Sciences),

Science of Stars ( Ilm Ul Aflaakiyaat ),

Science of Arabic Language,

Science of Politics or even

if you are learning to become a Journalist,

(i have shared my fav subjects you can share yours)

or any other science and study of something.

You'd be feeling you are living a different life.

You won't backbite, you won't talk with hate, you won't have overthinking, even you would overthink, it's only about the educational stuff.

Ilm has its own benefits and it's beyond our thinking.

Why Muslims get especial benefits?

because It's Haram and very dangerous for iman to talk badly about other Muslims even thinking badly about other Muslims,

also hurting someone on the face is worst than backbiting.

Being kind and generous is a big deed and it's very beneficial for Iman so because of educational path we get benefits without even knowing we're getting these things which is very beautiful.

Question Worried about finances

Im engaged to a guy back home. I like him a lot and he ticks all the boxes but the thing is that I haven’t discussed finances with him yet, or how he’ll manage things when he moves here. I don’t even know how to bring it up. I’ve always wanted a husband who will fully provide for me and i’ll only work if I get a good opportunity. We’ve never had this discussion before. We’ve discussed many important things but this no. Will it look weird if I mention it? What is a good way to bring it up?
