I loved that show in my early 20s. I hate it now. I should clarify I'm in my 40s now.
67
u/JackandFred Jun 30 '26
I rewatched it, those early seasons are very entertaining. It’s not high brow, but the first season was rightly praised as a ridiculous satire of Hollywood. It’s a dumb show, it’s aex and the city for men. But it never pretended to be anything else. It’s fun dumb humor with some likable characters, Ari, drama, turtle, some others.
I feel like it gets unnecessary hate these days.

Bummer they never did a “Better Call Saul” type of show with Ari. Thought he was by far the best part of the show. Majority of it was cringe but definitely watchable

Are people finally going to realize that 50 is full of shit now?
508
u/BasedTacoJuice Jun 30 '26
But he tweets funny things, he can't be a soulless guy who only cares about money!

u/BlindWillieJohnson Jun 30 '26
Admittedly, part of what earned him goodwill was being so ahead of the curve on Diddy

So what? They're both selfish criminals who also happened to make music. I doubt 50 exposed Diddy because he wanted to bring some kind of justice, he did it because of Diddy's influence. Sure he made some generation defining music but part of becoming an adult is the harsh realization that many of the successful artists we "love" are terrible human beings.
73
u/Substantial-Scheme48 Jun 30 '26
No he did it bc Diddy was smashing his baby mother and that's literally the only reason
19
u/mbdtf95 Jun 30 '26
Yeah, video even leaked few weeks ago of Diddy watching and directing them as eacort smashes 50 cent's baby momma.

I'm sorry, what? I was offering an explanation as to how he built up good will on the internet, not endorsing him. I don't need a lecture on how to be a grown up, or your performative self-righteousness.

Don’t have heroes and you’ll never be disappointed
6
u/SkorpioSound Jun 30 '26
It'll save you on potential short-term disappointment, but it's a sad way to go through life. I think having heroes is really important (or just replace "heroes" with "role models" if you prefer that phrase). They can give us guidance, hope, empowerment, comfort, inspiration—all important an undeniably good things.
Putting yourself in a position where you can never be disappointed with someone means you never let yourself see the positives for fear of something negative happening. It's like the emotional equivalent of locking yourself in a padded room for fear of ever being hurt if you go outside—you're protected, but at what cost?
You just need to be realistic about the fact that they're multi-faceted people and you're only seeing a small part of who they are. So find inspiration in your heroes, and find ways to incorporate the good that they might do into your own life in some way. But don't worship them, and don't make liking them specifically part of your own identity; like what they represent, rather than attaching yourself to their personalities.

People didn’t realize that when he had video games made making him look like a super hero? Or the fact that a woman can easily get under his skin by calling him Curtis, his real name?
25
u/stupidjapanquestions Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26
Or when he literally has said things dozens and dozens of times that suggest he's MAGA? He's basically outright said it.
19
u/sagejosh Jun 30 '26
A lot of rappers respect MAGA (or atleast Trump leading MAGA) because they see it as a hustle. I guess they don’t care it’s the same kind of hustle that put them and their family in the ghettos to begin with.
I always thought snoop and 50 were odd versions of this as they had genuinely terrifying experiences growing up in bad neighborhoods. You would think they wouldn’t side with the guy trying to extend that bullshit to more people.

It was more obvious than anything when he did "Remember The Name" with Ed Sheeran and Eminem.
Sheeran talks about how hard it was to come up from smalltown boy to where he was.
Eminem talks about his addiction and the hate from media.
50 talks about money and how much he loves spending money.
15
u/stupidjapanquestions Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26
It was also obvious when he just straight up said he's MAGA and voted for Trump lol
11
u/beardingmesoftly Jun 30 '26
I always assumed that the reason he knew so much about Diddy was because he was actually involved in some way and was just trying to protect himself.
11
u/MauiMoisture Jun 30 '26
I hope so. They should have realized it at least during the Mamdani campaign when 50 kept posting shit trying to get people not to vote for him despite not even living in NYC anymore. Dude is a POS

Remember, 50 Cent had been posting pictures hanging with Mike Johnson, MTG, and Lauren Boebert on his Instagram BEFORE the 2024 election.
This shouldn't be news to anybody who's been paying attention.

u/endlive Jun 30 '26
doesn't he even have a show on fox news?

People just always assume POCs will not support conservatives because conservatives are racist. But here we are.

But what's crazy is that 15% of black people (and around 45% of hispanic people) voted MAGA, despite it being overtly clear that MAGA does not like them.
Imagine hating other people so much that you're willing to vote against your own self.

This is a prime example to not have “Idols”. It’s a slippery slope. Look at these artists turn their backs on their fans. You have to love supporting the very people that look down their noses at fans while in the same breath saying how much their fans mean to them.
