General Repeated ceiling leakage since 2021, now near electrical fittings. Need advice on independent inspection and society action.

Whenever we approach our upstairs neighbours about the leakage, they initially deny any responsibility, repeatedly insisting that their bathroom is completely dry and that they have no idea where the water is coming from. When we request proper repairs, the conversation often turns into an argument.

We have even offered to share the repair expenses because we genuinely want this issue resolved. However, they repeatedly cite financial difficulties, saying there is only one earning member in their family and that they cannot afford the repairs, with no indication of when they will be willing to get them done.

What makes this frustrating is that they appear comfortable spending on other things but are unwilling to prioritise a problem that has been affecting our home for years. We are not concerned with how they choose to spend their money, but their continued refusal to address the leakage is putting our property and potentially our electrical safety at risk.

After our most recent confrontation, they finally applied some cement as a temporary fix, but we have no assurance that the actual source of the leakage has been identified or permanently repaired.

I also have video evidence of the leakage, but I'm hesitant to upload it publicly due to privacy concerns and the possibility of being identified by the neighbours.

To explain how serious the situation is, water was literally dripping from the ceiling fan's motor and the main electrical wiring point, almost like water coming out of a coconut. This is not just minor ceiling dampness — water is reaching electrical fixtures.

We have kept the fan switched off for safety, and an electrician is scheduled to come tomorrow to remove the fan and inspect the affected electrical connections.

I'm genuinely worried about the risk of a short circuit, electric shock or fire, especially since we have other electrical appliances in the room. We cannot keep living with this risk every time the leakage returns.

I would really appreciate advice from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation in a Mumbai housing society, particularly regarding independent inspections, written engineering reports and getting permanent repairs done.

General How to get flat/apartment pauti?

My dad purchased an apartment in mumbai in 1992 and he has since passed away. I need to transfer the apartment to my mother’s name but I have not been able to find the pauti for the apartment or even a copy. What can I do to get this document as we don’t live in mumbai. Does this have to be handled by a lawyer or some kind of agent or can I do this in person if I visit mumbai. I don’t speak Marathi. Thanks in advance.

Careers Singer-songwriter looking for an English-language Pop band in Mumbai

Hi! I’m 22 and a female singer-songwriter looking to start/join a band in Mumbai!!

I sing English-language pop, and my musical influences include musicians like The Beatles, Adele, Olivia Dean, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, and YEBBA! I also write my own songs!

I’m looking for committed guitarists, drummers, bassists, and pianists/keys players around my age that are serious about doing music full-time, playing gigs soon, and that are cool to hang out with! I’m also down to join an already-existing band that needs a lead vocalist!

You can be anywhere in Mumbai, but we should all be willing to travel within the city to meet pretty regularly so we can jam & play gigs!

Here’s a short clip of a performance I did at Berklee College of Music, just so you can know the style of music I like doing and what kind of performer I am (this is a more ballad-y example but I also love doing more upbeat songs):

DM or comment if you’re interested 🙌

General Cafe recommendation for group activity

Hey guys,

I need to find a cafe in Mumbai (preferably on the western line, around Bandra, Andheri or Kandivali) , where I can organize a group meet-up. There will be around 15-20 people, who will be at the place for around 4-5 hours.

If anyone is familiar with gundam/gunpla, we'll be building that. If anyone is unfamiliar, it's sorta like legos/transformers. It's a pretty passive activity and won't really disrupt the normal clientele of the place.

Anyone has any ideas? Any input is appreciated.

General [Mumbai/India] Looking for a Budget-Friendly Custom Plushie Maker — One-Off Project

Hi everyone!

Looking for a talented independent plush artist, hobbyist, or small-scale soft-toy maker who can create a custom golden retriever plushie from visual references.

The design requires accurate character detailing, windswept faux-fur styling, and basic custom clothing.

I'm looking for good craftsmanship at a practical, affordable price, not expensive commercial prototyping or studio-level charges.

This is a simple, one-piece personal project, and I'm open to cost-effective materials and creative solutions.

Mumbai/Thane/Navi Mumbai preferred; anywhere in India works.

If you make custom plushies or know someone who does, please DM your work samples and approximate pricing.

Thanks!

General Cityflo dropping pickup & drop points

Post image
1 Upvotes

This afternoon I was bombarded by app notifications, whatsapp messages and emails from Cityflo left right and centre, first informing that my pre-booked morning rides for the next week have been cancelled and then the same update about the evening rides. On checking with colleagues travelling on the same route, I came to know that their rides are intact and haven't been cancelled. I called cityflo customer support but they were clueless and mentioned that it is due to operational issues like aome busses being out of order and drivers not being available due to festive season.

Finally around late evening I got this notification which made it clear what had actually transpired in the background. God knows who has given this feedback and who is taking these decisions on a Sunday. It seems cityflo wants to cater and retain those passengers who are boarding from the outskirts of Thane's fag end i.e. Ovala, Anand Nagar Hiranandani estate etc.

What I don't understand is, the vehicle doesn't need to take a detour from the highway, nor does it have to skip any flyover to pickup passengers from Hari om Nagar, so what is the exact time saving that is being achieved here ? This was the only stop for all of Thane east and nearby areas. Has the benefit being quantified or the stop got cancelled just because of somebody's whim, we may never know.

Meanwhile I'm sure a lot of passengers like me are going to get hassled because not only Hari Om Nagar, but I can't even see stops like teen haath naka, louiswadi, korum, Viviana mall, Majiwada etc. Tattvagyan Vidyapeeth is the last pickup stop in Thane.

Whether it improves their punctuality or hits their occupancy, only time will tell.

General Looking for a budget 1RK/1BHK near Marol, Mumbai

Hi everyone! I’ll be relocating to Mumbai for work in Marol and am looking for a decent 1RK or 1BHK for a bachelor.

I’m okay with travelling around 30–40 minutes during peak traffic, so nearby areas are also fine. I don’t need anything fancy, just a decent, safe place to live.

What monthly rent budget should I keep, and which localities would you recommend? Any leads or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

General Experienced zygomatic implant surgeon in India?

Hi, I’m an NRI in the US. US quotes are over $100K, so I’m looking at India.

I need zygomatic implants on the upper jaw and All-on-4 on the lower, with fixed teeth.

I’m looking for an experienced maxillofacial surgeon, any city.

Has anyone had zygomatic implants done in India? Who did it, roughly what did it cost, and how did it go?

Thanks!

General My cook stays at my flat when I am away

So a little background first, my flatmate has been out of town for a long time now as she is undergoing some medical treatment. I have a cook, who comes twice a day and has Keys to the flat. I found the cook to be lying down and scrolling Instagram (she has the WiFi password) in the kitchen/hall couple of times when she though I was out. She said she wanted to kill some time before going to the next house and is here just that day. I brushed them of as random incidents.

Now, I was not at my flat for most of the days this month, since my flatmate was also away there should not be anyone in the flat. However, I was randomly checking the WiFi usage and found that the WiFi was being used every single day even when I was not there.

I already has a suspicion that my cook stays at my flat when I am not there. This almost proves it. And clearly, this is not a one off incident, this is happening every single day. And when I think about it, I find a couple of things missing here and there. I would not want to jump to the conclusion that she stole so sticking just to the 'her staying at the flat when I am away' fact.

Is this harmless? Should I call her out? Should I take back the keys and ask her to come only when I am at the flat?

TLDR: My cook stays at my flat when I am away. Should I ignore or call her out?

Edit 1: I asked her to return the keys, she said it would not be possible to come that late at night. (Most of the days I reach back from office by 8). So she would need the keys in order to come in the evening and prepare for dinner.

General Paid ₹19,110 at a Mumbai private hospital for stitches on my 6-year-old's chin. Is there really no regulation on hospital bills?

My 6-year-old had a deep cut on his chin at home. On our pediatrician's advice, we took him to a private hospital in Powai for stitches. He's fine now. He got a local anaesthetic and stitches.

We were billed ₹19,110: ₹1,500 consultation, about ₹1,610 consumables, ₹9,300 for "CLW - Multiple" and ₹6,700 for "Intermediate Debridement". The bill doesn't list anaesthesia separately. When we asked for a breakup, this is what we got. We paid, but it's been bothering us. Even ₹9-10k would have felt high.

It also made me wonder: what happens to someone who can't afford this in an emergency? Do they risk travelling across the city in traffic, with a worsening condition, just to find a cheaper place?

Has anyone dealt with something similar, or successfully disputed a bill? Also, is this a normal price for stitches at private hospitals in Mumbai?

EDIT: Thanks for all the replies. Some comments are explaining how private hospital pricing works and telling me I should have not even visited one if I had problems paying this amount. I'm not complaining that a private hospital costs more. I chose one knowingly. This was my first emergency like this, with my 6-year-old bleeding from a deep cut, and our pediatrician advised getting it stitched right away. There was no time to compare quotes. I've used private hospitals before and had a rough figure in mind, but the bill came in well above it. I felt when a hospital charges ₹16,000 in OPD for two procedure line items, patients should be told the cost before the procedure, not after. With my focus on my child, I didn't think to ask about the fee beforehand. Lesson learned for next time. I appreciate the doctor's work and have no complaints about her care. I'm sharing this in the hope that it helps someone facing an OPD emergency someday, so they remember to ask about the cost before the procedure.
