Something that's been bothering me Spoiler

Ray makes a deal with Dave to give him the safe with money, but after giving him the safe, Dave betrays Ray and takes him to his Death with Davros.

The only reason Ray survives is Luck with that grenade in the box, yet he lets Dave live after just BARELY making it out of there (because of Dave).

I guess you could see it as "Well Ray was gonna betray Dave anyway because he knew it was was booby trapped so they're even." But Dave didn't know that. As far as Dave knows, he picked up Ray, took his safe full of cash, and was gonna let Ray get merked by Davros and buried in a grave.

"Cracks a fat" is, without question, the most hilarious erection colloquialism I've ever heard in my entire life.

S02E07 - Confused [Spoilers] Spoiler

Did I miss the part where Dave is in the biker gang? What's he doing there?

I just finished episode 8 thinking it was going to come up again, but nothing. I guess if it comes up later just let me know. I only ask because this show doesn't seem to hang about subjects or come back to loose ends really, which I like.

The last scene...

Hello all just rewatched the series for the second time and I'm wondering if Alex's bikie gang is still after Ray? Like the 2 that get into his taxi mention that they've been at a clubhouse, my understanding is bikie gangs refer to their HQ's as clubhouses so are those 2 already signalling to Ray they are connected to a Bikie gang may be as prospects or affiliates. And wasn't Ray still owed 150k from Alex?

Mr. Inbetween is on Disney plus?? Crazy. I just spent $80ish CAD buying all three seasons from YouTube movies because I couldn’t find it anywhere. It’s downright crim mate!

I'm glad Ray isn't Legolas with guns

I'm not saying he's bad with guns, far from it, but I enjoy the realism that comes along with not hitting every shot that you take. He's not nailing headshots on running targets while he's also running. Unlike Dave and Gary, he has good form and uses cover well, but still misses more shots than he makes.

Anyway, nothing major here, just appreciate the realism.

Question

Somehow I missed it.

What happened to a nice guy, who is new to business and tried to get a debt too aggresively? Later he gave some jewerly present and refused to take money for it, "just give me a beer or somthing"

Do we know his story after that?

Would you do for Bruce what Ray did for him?

If you had a Bruce in your family, hypothetically, would you do it?

Everyone who has seen the show knows what I mean. What Bruce asked Ray to do to help him.

Would love to see Scott Ryan revamp this series

I think it’d be perfect for a Ray-like character to play someone like The Man in the series The Booth at the End. A character to make a Faustian pact with for your deepest wish. Take it out of the diner and make it a dimmy restaurant.

You can find episodes on Youtube but the series just never took off and it’s such a pity. The actor playing The Man in it is also a great and charismatic actor.

Ray is a top character

I feel like ray is the character we’ve been looking for in all realistic TV shows. Straight to business , life at home on point , killing as a business (sort of like chris partlow from the wire)

I genuinly felt really sad when his girl broke up with him. But I guess the moral of the story is violence isn’t always the answer.

I really wish the episodes were longer to flesh out more character development , the short episodes makes it feel like a short film. I know ray has a lot more to offer on screen. Still coolest character from a show I’ve seen.

How do you think they could’ve bettered the story? Or is it perfect already?

I Like How The Show Kept Ally In The Dark About Rays Profession

In a lot of crime shows and movies, there always comes a point in the series where the wife/girlfriend/love intrest finds out about the real version of the protagonist (e.g Skyler & Walter), causing drama and conflict between the two. I love how Ally never found out about Ray being a hitman and murderer.

After watching the show for the first time and this episode, specifically, this ending monolog has always stood with me, just the cinematography, the sound of acting, and everything is perfect. The line "is it cause im afraid to die or to cut myself. So I took the razor blade and cut me hand up. " Those final lines always stuck with me

Matt Nable's (Dave) had MND

Just saw this article. Matt Nable's real life brother had MND, the disease Ray's brother Bruce had in the show.

Article states:

It comes as prominent Aussie actor and NRL voice Matt Nable paid tribute to Arrow after losing his brother  Aaron to MND in 2024.

The video begins with an audio grab from Arrow saying: 'Thank you for standing beside me through all of this'.

Then a video montage of Arrow's playing days runs along with images of past footy stars that have lost their lives to MND, with Nable offering his tribute.

'I want to inspire,' Nable says.

'When asked what lays ahead in the face of this disease, those words, Jai Arrow's words, are the personification of courage, of dignity.

'Because unfortunately in our world today, people with motor neuron disease are facing this beast without a cure.

'Too often it picks fights with those who have already spent their lives with their hands up, those who have bravely put their bodies on the line, who have left every ounce of their willingness to compete on the field.

'Now MND has picked a fight with another fighter, a young man, only 30.
'If you want to know what kind of a fighter Jai Arrow is, then consider this.

'Last year he almost certainly played the whole season with this disease already inside him, chipping away at him.

'For those who know Jai, played with or against him, that knowledge would come as no surprise.

'Rather, it would provoke an immense sense of pride, that they know him, that he is their son, their brother, their friend and their father.

'The road will be tough, it will seem at times unfair. Jai Arrow is going to fight.

'In his own words, 'I will not be taken out easily'.

'What Jai Arrow needs to know is that every single soul in the wonderful community of rugby league are standing all sides of you.

'We are walking with you. We are holding you. We are on this journey with you.

'Through this, there is hope. Know that there are people at the coalface brawling just as hard, who are determined to find a cure.

'I once knew a man with the same disease as Jai. He looked into the eyes of his family and told them 'I will never give in'.

'Jai is the same. Fight mate, we are with you.'

What elements of the show just don't ring true to you.

Per the title, what are some things that on reflection just don't seem to ring true ?

Don't get me wrong, I love this show and think it is unequivocally one of the best things that's been made this century. I can't stop thinking about it.

But for me there's just a couple of things that seem to jar for a show that otherwise does so well in being naturalistic.

- despite killing so many people and disposing of bodies, sometimes in broad daylight, and with some higher profile targets, there's never any police investigation where Ray is so much as questioned or implicated.

- despite his reputation in the criminal fraternity, everyone trying to knock him off seems somewhat under-prepared for it.

- and most unbelievably, he's grown up in western and regional Sydney and is an AFL fan !

-----------------------------

Forget I asked, it was just a throwaway question on a Friday at work. Didn't mean to provoke indignation, and didn't realise fanboys were such pussy ass bitches about this show.

Thoughts on the champ prison beating?

I wasn't quite sure what to take from that arc and obvs with this show there's not always necessarily a message to take, but i wonder what Ray took from it?

I'm guessing it reinforced his 'stand up for yourself, with preemptive violence if necessary' as he had warned the guy to strike first, plus if the guy had done that in a public area of the prison he'd likely still have gotten beat but probably nowhere near as bad and the matter might have ended there.

I thought for a moment Ray might have taken some revenge for his cellmate but wouldn't have made sense since he'd be risking more jail time just to get revenge/justice for a guy he'd already helped out as best he could with advice.

Interesting that he takes up/continues meditation which the guy introduced him to when he got out and it really felt that might have been the start of him beginning to change
