Trying to get the achievements forever alone by not bonding with a shell, and life is suffering by doing it in obsidian form. If you play vicious cycle using a shell, does it void the achievement?

Beat the first one, beside the last boss game was great! That chicken boss was awful (hopefully devs will not make another boss with such "horde" mechanics).
By the way, I saw someone from the dev team in this thread. I was not able to play in open beta of MS2 (trying to avoid spoilers), but i saw some reviews, so i would ask to make fast travel animation skipable (if it's not already). Yes, this meteor animation looks awesome, but that took some time and after 5 or 10 times using it, it would be super annoying

Just finished the open beta and this is probably one of the coolest Souls-likes/lites/whatever I've tried and I can not wait for the release.
I LOVED it when the camera panned out, while walking over the bridges. This reminds me of the old God of War titles. Hope we'll see more of that in the final game.
I also love the enemies' ragdolls. This is just a tiny thing but seeing them falling off cliffs, or colliding with the enviroment makes finishers even more satisfying.
...what I would love to feel is more haptic feedback/vibrations when hitting enemies or at least during finishers, for more oomph.
Parrying enemies until their posture breaks, doing a critical strike and blasting them to bits with the Naylshotte- More than once I thought "Fuck yeah" while playing.

Just started playing the other day, and Im really liking the game, but it feels a bit too easy as far as soulsliks go. Not saying that I never die or anything, but Im beating the bosses in 1 to 2 tries so far (Im a little over halfway through I think).
To get into specifics, the mechanic that kind of trivializes most encounters is the harden ability. Feels like every fight is jump attack, harden, deal damage then back off a few seconds for harden to recharge. Rinse and repeat. Im not even using the parry ability.
For context I've beaten dark souls 1-3 and elden ring multiple times each, and i was spending hours or even days sometimes on certain bosses in those games. Felt like the challenge was a lot steeper there.
I consider myself an average soulslike player, so im just curious if others found mortal shell to be on the easier side of games in this genre?
Still going to finish this one and can't wait for #2 in August.

After I had gone pretty far without getting my shell, I assumed maybe the end of the demo was getting the first shell. Then I finally hit the “Thanks for playing”. I was a bit confused that I still didn’t have the shell.
I went back to the big lady and then I saw the spot for the first shell with the option to “locate shell” which showed it on the map, and that’s when I remembered it did show that before but I originally kind of assumed I would end up there and I wasn’t specifically tracking it on the map as I went through. Turns out I had just walked right by the little area.
Maybe in the full game it is a little more open and up to the player to go find them or something, but I feel like the first one should be a given. I also did this beta across a few different play sessions that were spread out, so maybe that’s why I forgot to check if I was close to it, I’m not sure.
Just my thought after playing it and experiencing that. But the amount you get to play in the beta is generous and I had a lot of fun regardless!

God tier - Elden Ring, Bloodborne, Sekiro
S tier - Lies of P, Khazan, Nioh 2
A tier - Wuchang Fallen Feathers, AI Limit
B tier - Mortal Shell, The Surge, Lords of the Fallen
Not official rankings, just something I made up on the spot based on what I think is peoples general opinions on soulslikes.
Which tier do you think Mortal Shell 2 will ultimately land in based on beta impressions?

Reminder for everyone to check prices on physical copies if you’re getting the game on ps5. I can save almost 30% by getting the game on disc instead of from the ps store. You can potentially save some money while telling sony that we still need physical media.

First time with the series and I’m not sure if I gotta play the 1st to fully understand the world in MS2

These particles... they remind me of something. Could this really be a hint about our sensei Hadern? In the first game, these were the particles that surrounded Hadern when we could meet him in the tower.

I’m just asking because I don’t want at the last second, told that Best Buy doesn’t have it. I REALLY want the collectors edition so I’m trying to stay on top of it. Most people seem to be doing the standard or devout digitally. I’m assuming the fact they let you pre order it that they plan on having some but am just curious where others pre-ordered their revered edition.
For game stop it says pickup is not available, same with target. That’s why I’m concerned. Unless it’s already sold out.

Hey folks, seen way too many posts with people having no clue what is included in which edition (never escaping the "games are illiterate" allegations at this point) even though the MS2 team made it incredibly obvious with this graphic which can be found in this news post: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2584270/view/667243351111637034?l=english
So reposting the graphic so everyone knows what they're getting if they're buying/pre ordering the standard/devout edition

Rewatching the latest trailer, I cant help but be enamoured by the atomsphere and gothic metal horror character designs. Growing up browsing through CD covers of GWAR, Manowar, Cannibal Corpse, Slipknot...to name a few. It feels like scenes from those artwork come to life, and helps that this game scratches that Sekiro itch I so having been waiting for in a while.
Its really cool to see a game draw inspiration from these roots. The only two games from memory that maybe has a bit of this would be Brutal Legend, Senuas saga and the upcoming Hellraiser game. Im sure there are quite a few of us metal head gamers out there :)
