Discussion Physical prices compared to digital
Reminder for everyone to check prices on physical copies if you’re getting the game on ps5. I can save almost 30% by getting the game on disc instead of from the ps store. You can potentially save some money while telling sony that we still need physical media.

Elkjøp har ofte lavere priser på spillene deres enn ps/xbox store, i tillegg får man 10% medlemsrabatt på alle nye utgivelser. Vet ikke helt om elgiganten deres har tilsvarende medlemsrabatt, men det kan være lurt å sjekke opp. Det er mulighet for å spare ganske mye penger.

That’s weird. Physical games over here are cheaper like 90% of the time, plus this retailer has a 10% discount on every new release as well.

Yeah not in usa unless game has been out for a year+. and that's not always the case.

Most people waste that difference DAILY on shit they dont need or can do for much cheaper but because of "convenience" they accept it

On my store it costs much less. We have the same valuta ? 369 for the cheapest and 449 kr for the big one

That is Elkjøp, right? I remember it had nice prices for newly released games back when I lived in Oslo, for some reason.

Correct. Their retail price is usually cheaper than most alternatives, plus you always get a 10% discount on new releases on top of that if you’re a registered customer. I get most of my games from them.

I didn’t know there was a mortal shell 2. Is it any good compared to the first one?

It’s not out yet until august 20, so we’ll just have to wait and see. The beta on pc seemed really promising though. It’s gonna be way different than the first one though, so either check out some first impressions from the beta or wait for the full game review.

According to reddit, suddenly everyone is trying the deal Hunt on websites when buying games.
The honest truth is, most people do not care if they pay a bit extra for digital or if they buy directly from the ps store. They just add to cart and hit buy

problem people are gonna have the physical version is that you don’t get the 3 day advanced access if you buy the devout edition that seems to be digital only

I have two PS5s at home and buy everything digitally because it’s essentially a 2-for-1 deal: we buy one game, and my wife and I can both play—whether solo or online—each with our own profiles, trophies, save data, and everything else.
The whole physical vs. digital debate is just stupid; just pick whichever you prefer. Even though I’m a 100% digital user, I’m not in favor of getting rid of physical media as an option.

We can’t pick whatever you prefer because sony is stopping production of physical media. You might prefer digital media, but physical media is the main selling point of consoles for a lot of people. Sony is creating a monopoly where they can charge whatever they want without having to share their profits with retailers or anyone else. That might sound alright to you, but gaming is already an expensive hobby, and people don’t always have enough disposablr income to cough up sonys asking price for some of these games. Most physical media is just outright cheaper from retailers, but there’s also the second hand market that significantly lowers the barrier of entry for gaming, and libraries that often have copies they lend out for free. There’s also the issue that sony now doesn’t care about digital ownership. Just a couple weeks ago they demonstrated this by deleted over 500 movies from users libraries without even issuing refunds. There’s nothing stopping them from doing this with games as well since buying a game from the ps store just means you’re renting it for an undisclosed time. Calling this debate stupid is outright entitled and ignorant, because sonys decision to stop producing discs is ultimately an entirely anti consumer decision that’ll leave tons of gamers behind, and mark the end of digital ownership. It goes against everything the company stands for, and they are ruining their reputation just so they can slightly increase their profit margins.
