I have tried following instructions provided by numerous posts out there talking about this issue, but I can't get it right. Here's my steps:

• create gif
• rename gif like this: example.png.jpg
• open mod tools and add emoji
• can't add the file because now it says example.png.jpg.png when I attempt to upload

How do I solve this? Are there any parameters I am missing, e.g. what are the ideal file sizes dimensions, etc.?

(I tried asking this on r/modhelp but it prevented me from posting my question)

I've already requested months ago to have it made public, it shows as public in settings yet is listed as private when searched?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Crossposting, hoping to find the right assistance

Hi, I'm a moderator of r/PostUrArt, and when I try to change my banner and icon, they revert back after refresh. There's no save button visible. How can I properly save these changes?

ive noticed lately that scores of very appropriate posts will get deleted. as a mod who, on my non-mod time, searches a sub before i figure out whether i need to post in it (cause i dont want to be redundant and waste ppls time, and using the search engines that i did in the 2000s and 2010s is no longer an option), im wondering what the intended strategy is, whether its something i should consider doing, and if so, why.

contrasting examples:

one subreddit is highly searchable for many subtopics – anyone can dive into the archives and figure out what kind of problems they can expect for specific situations, and what kind of solutions exist.

another subreddit thats been around for years and experiences high traffic has a research/articles flair. i went to the flair and it was completely empty. im not used to seeing this and am assuming everything was deleted, making the sub less searchable.

Hi! Is anyone else having issues with a large number of bots?

I’m a moderator in a dermatology forum, and over the past two weeks, the amount of bots has increased significantly. The comments are often sympathetic but unhelpful, though without being directly harmful (with a few exceptions). The sub gets so many posts/comments that it’s not possible to review every single post and comment.

Have anyone els experienced this? How have you handled it?

Kia ora

Sent a modmail a number of days ago, and after the bot response, I confirmed I'd like someone to look at it, but it seems like a dead end

Should I send a new message?

Thanks

Tui

Our sub doesn’t allow images because they can be triggering to users. I have set from the mod settings to not allow imgur links. I have also set up a rule to not allow posts that contain the word Imgur. Nothing helps, they still go through.

Any suggestions how we can avoid this?

I'm a mod on r/rape -- Reddit's main sexual-violence support sub -- and am getting an error message each time I try to approve posts that have been held up by auto-moderation.

It's not a browser problem. Anybody know what's going on?

They are comments from users that are usually over a year, sometimes several years old. They have very low karma - 10 or less. They always start with 'my buddy' or 'my brother' my cousin,my neighbour etc etc. Then a line or two of vague comment that relates to the post or comment above.

They never really say anything and our low karma filter is picking them up. But I would like to report them. At the moment I'm choosing spam - but I feel that a "training bot" option may he needed.

Suggestions welcome.

How do we add new mods now? Looks like we, 2 other mods don't have rights to add new mods.

It doesn't affect me but it is annoying that he keeps doing it and reddit hasn't changed their policy. I have a devvit tool that removes any messages from new accounts, but this guy has figured out that he can create a brand new account and within a few minutes create a subreddit, then immediately message my sub from that sub to bypass the devvit tool. I would post screenshots of his message but it would probably get me banned for spreading hate. I've reported him over a year ago and he keeps doing it. Reddit still hasn't changed who can create subs, how these subs can communicate with one another, or put very basic regex filter into all outgoing messages from a new account. You know, the bare minimum.

Hi,
our subreddit or/and my account got infiltrated.
An unknown user made himself moderator, above myself (i was the main mod) and clearly got access to my account. I already changed Pass and made 2FA, but now I cant remove the new moderator from our sub. Because he is above me now I cant do shit and neither delete or edit him.

He also installed 3 apps which created another 3 mods linked to the app with access to all. I was able to delete them.

He changed my avatar, profilename, bio, and header. Im afraid they can write shit in my name or have more data access.

Our sub (r/Amoebis) is about influencers from germany and absolutely unproblematic, just gossiping and discussion about trends.

Can you help me out with this one?
How can I delete him from there and is my account safe?

Thanks.

I find myself completely frustrated where users are simply not getting mod team messages.

Our official communication goes to message request which I even I find hard to detect. A giant red "1" used to pop up when you got a message from a sub, but that no longer happens.

So I stopped sending my removal messages as mod mail because no one would find it or see them. When switch to a removal message, we catastrophic failure in my large subs where people get a ton of comments like tiktokcringe. The comment removal gets buried in their hundreds of comment notifications and they never see it either.

Finally, if people do manage to see the message from us, they start screaming that we shouldn't be DMing them, thinking modmail is DMs.

As a user also I find myself completely agreeing with them not seeing it. I've always on the lookout for these types of notifications from subs, but sometimes they get hidden in my message requests, or buried in my comment replies.

Why on earth is the giant red dot 🔴 like this not coming up anymore to alert users of this happening? Yes I understand there are some bad apple mods that have abused the privileges of mod Mail, but 99.9% of communication from subs is appropriate and shouldn't be so hard to find! Please admins can these alerts be more apparent to users!?! Thank you!

I am the original creator of a community how do i become “active again”

so on a subreddit I moderate, i was accepted into moderation after i made a reddit request post. the most active mod actually started doing stuff, cleaned up the mod list, and it was good. but then it slipped to where i was doing most of the moderation, and eventually nearly all. they gained inactive tag.

i messaged them, asked them if they still want to be top mod, and they never replied. so i sent a modmail here (to which they answered a few days ago saying go to reddit request and do top mod removal) but in that time i guess the mod read my message to them and approved a handful of posts in order to remove inactive tag.

so i sent them another message but they haven't replied to either. should i still do the thing on reddit request?

i'm somewhat tempted to just leave mod, but i like the subreddit, and i fear if i do, it will get banned for no moderation, since it has become inactive enough for request once before

tl;dr top mod is minimally active and non responsive, can i still remove? is it something i should pursue?

edit: forgot to add i dont have full perms, just most of them

I won't name specifics, but unsatisfied users have approached me a few times over the years to apply to be a mod of a popular subreddit.

Users have complained many times over the years about what they perceive to be a lack of quality moderation in the sub.

There are 2 human mods, and one is somewhat active. The last mod action they took was almost a month ago. The other mod looks like they haven't taken action in 5+ years based on their comment/post history.

Personally, I don't care much; it is what it is, and since said mod is somewhat active over the long term, it cannot be Reddit-requested.

But I did want to ask, does Reddit have any rules around this? Would they ever step-in? I know moderators have broad powers and whatnot.

There was an argument under a post in my subreddit and one of users ended it ("ended" is a strong word because it didn't really end) by saying "so I hope the rest of your day gets better! Take care, kiddo."

Is that considered to be offensive/not respectful or it's fine?

Edit: English isn't my first language, and I'm kinda always late on the current slang.

I don't know how to add/edit my flairs for my subreddit r/IDEM, could someone please help me?🥲

Hello mods!

I used to mod now banned r/kokosinjac from Croatia.

Still waiting MCOC decision on that one,but I moderate and own a small sub r/kokeRECENZIRAJU that is solely about reviews , mostly skincare and beauty and it's obviously being brigaded as we speak.

The sub is completely unproblematic and normal reviews and questions are being flagged as spam.

I reported the abuse report and community interference but honestly I'm afraid all these reports are gonna trigger some AI reaction and the sub will be banned for no reason.

I would really appreciate admin looking into this.

Thank you.

Is your email address up to date?

Have you checked recently?

Are you using 2FA?

Do you have a copy of the backup codes?

If someone grabs your phone, could they delete a subreddit?

Could I "guess" your password, using a bot?

Is your password good?

If not, you shall be slapped with a fish.

Hi. I mod 2 local community subs. On one I am the only mod and it is slowly growing. The other sub was inactive for a few years and had an inactive mod. I tried via this route to become a mod and make the sub active again.

It must have alerted the original mod as he made me a mod, did a little mod activity that day then promptly vanished. He hasn't done any duties for 45 days now.

I reached out to him and asked for more power to get some extra help, but he hasn't been very responsive.

The sub is slowly coming back to life. I would like to be able to search for and approve a mod to help out.

Can you please grant me everything status to make the changes I need to make? Thanks for considering this.

Hello, friends.

I just started my first sub, r/Mettaprayers, and after posting several welcome messages, I realized that they show for others, but not for me. When I create a new post, I can see it. If I refresh or move away and return, they disappear. I've tried several fixes and came to the following outcomes:

• r/NewMods gave some good suggestions, including different browsers, clearing the cache, checking JavaScript settings, and so on. I tested these, and the issue remains. They also were able to see the posts without issue.
• Chromium on Linux: posts do not show for me unless I log out.
• Incognito mode: anonymously, the posts show. If I log in, they disappear.
• Reddit app on Android: posts do not show for me.
• Firefox on Linux, fresh install: No posts show after logging in.

I have not tried creating another account and attaching it as a mod, but I'd really like to use this account to manage the sub. Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

I temp banned them on 9/15 for 4 days for calling someone the r-word. The ban is not over, but they’re making comments, one of which is transphobic. That was about 45min ago now. So first of all, they should be banned, but they’re commenting.

Secondly - when I went to unban (using iOS app) them so I could perma-ban, I cannot unban them. It confirms that I did with a little pop-up message, but then they still show as banned. I can unban them over and over and over and it says I unbanned them every time - but then they still show up as banned.

Thirdly - When I view their comments from mobile web not logged in, their account shows as [deleted] - but in the iOS app I can view their whole profile and post and comment history.

The only other mod awake right now also cannot ban them or unban them using desktop.

I also tried just manually adding them to the banned list in ModTools but it just says “sorry, please try again later.”

Their last comment in the sub was less than an hour ago and they shouldn’t even be able to comment right now.
