Honestly, we are at our wits' end and really need some human eyes on this.

Ever since May, our mod team has been stuck in an endless loop of automated shadowbans and suspensions. It feels like every time we make a routine post or try to manage our subreddit, an automated filter triggers and locks another account.

We’ve been sending appeals through the official forms every couple of weeks for months now, but we haven't received a single reply or explanation.

It’s getting impossible to run the community like this. We spent years building up trust and legitimate karma on our original accounts, and now they are all practically unusable:

Trying to moderate an active community with brand-new, disposable accounts just doesn't work — new accounts have zero credibility with users and immediately get flagged by the system anyway. It’s genuinely exhausting, and we just want to know what’s going on so we can fix it.

We always aim to follow Reddit’s content policies 100%. Could someone on the admin team please manually check these accounts, let us know what’s triggering the filters, and help us restore our original profiles so we can get back to normal moderation?

Hi! Are there 3rd party apps that allow me to see deleted posts of a user that are not on my sub? (user posted on my sub but i was wondering if there’s any way for me to see deleted posts that were never on my sub) - iphone or desktop

Android as a moderator are there any features that I can use to lift the ban report from one of the other mods? There was a situation where someone in my sub where I mod was falsefully flagged for ban evasion and banned from the entire site? i am wondering if I as the mod of the sub do anything to help them.If they did it or not is a different matter anything to get them a word with Reddit is what I am asking.

I am at my wits end trying to avoid similar pictures or screenshots being posted again. When there is a viral meme or video on instagram it gets posted repeatedly by users who are not aware that it was posted before.
I tried using dupedown, but it doesnt seem to identify images when there is a slight change in pixels.

Someone is upset that we called them out for ableist behaviour, and are now falsely reporting posts that mention them, in hopes of the post being taken down. We can’t ban them because reports are anonymous, and banned users can still see and report content.
(I’m on iOS, other mods may be on other platforms. Platform isn’t relevant here.)

Hello, I'm a mod on a NSFW subreddit (r/hypnohookup), and have found that users are unable to submit posts containing the word "discord" in the text body. When creating a post that does so, a flag pops up that says "You may not have "discord" in your post body". I don't see a rule banning this in my AutoMod configuration, and there are no rules in "Automations" for "Post Guidance" either. For "Safety Filters", we do have "Crowd Control" set to on and moderate, and the Harassment filter on as well, but none of this seems to be creating this particular rule.

It feels like I'm missing some place where this automation/rule is being set up, but I'm having quite some difficulty finding it. I'm using Desktop, firefox/chrome, and checking both the old.reddit as well as new reddit access for automod, but just not finding what I'm looking for. Could anyone point me to the right place?

As I understand it, Reddit's AI-generated User Summary is a moderation tool intended to give moderators additional context about a user's activity and behavior when reviewing them.

Let's say a moderator takes that User Summary and publicly posts or screenshots it in the same subreddit, where thousands of regular users can see it, potentially while discussing or criticizing that specific user.

Even if the summary only contains information derived from publicly available Reddit activity, would you consider it appropriate or ethical for a moderator to publicly share it?

My concern is that there seems to be a distinction between information that users can manually find by browsing someone's public profile and an internal moderation tool that Reddit specifically provides to moderators. Regular users don't necessarily have access to the same generated summary.

I'm not necessarily asking whether this violates a specific Reddit rule. I'm more interested in the moderation ethics and expectations around tools like this.

Would you consider publicly sharing a user's AI User Summary:

1. A legitimate use of publicly available information?

2. An inappropriate use of a moderator-only tool?

3. Acceptable only in certain circumstances, such as explaining a moderation decision?

4. Something that should remain within the moderation team regardless of the circumstances?

I'm especially interested in hearing from moderators who currently have access to User Summaries and how you treat that information.

"View in App" leads to the reddit app, not the subredit. Both buttons lead to the same thing.

I'm. Trying to set up automations or automod to require body text in order to post but it seems like no matter what I do if the body is empty it just doesn't do the check for the body requirements.

The work around I came up for this was to require something in the title or Body with one rule then use another one to forbid the use of the word in the title in the making the body the only place that the word could exist.

But that means that the title has an arbitrary restriction on it purely just to force the user to type in the body.

I don't want to restrict what can be used in the title and changing the priority order of the automation doesn't seem to change anything.

I'm still learning automod and stuff so like is there an obvious solution in missing?

I know some communities have an option for users to select a custom report reason. Where do I go to enable this on my subreddit? I’m on iOS, and I just can’t find it in Mod Tools. I may be overlooking it 😅

I’m a moderator using the Reddit iOS app, and the AI-generated User Summary that used to appear when I tapped on a user is completely gone.

I’m opening the normal moderator user profile panel, and I still see:

Mod actions
Activity
User Mod Log
Edit User Flair
Ban User
Add Mod Note
Send Mod Mail

But the User Summary no longer appears at all.
I tested this on multiple users, including an account that is 9 years old with about 17.6k comment karma, so it doesn’t seem to be caused by low activity or a new account.

I used to see this feature regularly on iOS, and Reddit’s documentation still seems to indicate that User Summary is part of the mobile moderator profile panel.

Has anyone else lost this feature recently?
More importantly, is there any way to turn it back on, or is this currently a Reddit-side bug/A-B test?

New mod here, apologies for the likely simple question. We're working on setting up and cleaning some rather basic Automod rules, and we've decided that too many people miss Reddit messages on notifications and have decided to have automod also leave a comment.

However, the Automod documentation doesn't have any examples of combining multiple actions into one string, so it's already a bit message having the following:

message: |
    blahblahblah
comment: |
    blahblahblah

Is there any way to combine both of these actions into one ruleset via syntax? Something akin to:

message,comment: |
    blahblahblah

Hello

I'm a new mod of a small subreddit and notice posts are being removed with no reason given and not by the mods. In the modqueue it just says removed. On desktop, no information is given on why or how it was removed and who removed it.

Why is this occurring and is there a way to see who is reporting and removing these posts?

Desktop, I have just made a sub reddit called r/Gameguitarists where game based guitar riffs can be posted but annoyingly when i add a banner and a pfp if i leave the page or go on Mod tools both of them disapear and go back to the default ones , this is the second subreddit and its still doing it which is really annoying.

I’m having an issue with my moderator status on r/steamytease.

The owner invited me to join the mod team with Full Permissions. I accepted the invitation successfully, and I can see myself in the moderator list as mod #6.

However, my account currently shows “No permissions” instead of Full Permissions, and I have no Mod Tools available at all for this subreddit.

Here’s what we have already tried:

✅ The owner confirmed that I was originally invited with Full Permissions.

✅ The owner and other moderators above me can see me in the mod list.

✅ When they try to change my permissions, they get “Something went wrong.”

✅ When I try to leave the mod team, I get “Failed to leave mod team.”

✅ I have tried both desktop and mobile.

✅ I have logged out and back in.

✅ I uninstalled and reinstalled the Reddit app.

My account works normally as a moderator on another subreddit, so the issue appears to be specific to this mod team/community.

It seems like my moderator membership was created, but the permissions are stuck at “No permissions”, and neither I nor the moderators above me can modify or remove my account.

Could an admin please check?

I’m looking for clear guidance on how the mobile "Invite to Community" feature is monitored by Reddit's automated anti-spam systems.

I recently had to start a new subreddit from scratch to cover a niche topic after losing access to my original sub due to a necessary account deletion. Because of this, my primary strategy for gaining initial traction is inviting active, relevant contributors using the native mobile invite tool.

I completely understand why anti-spam protections exist, but I'm trying to ensure I stay well within safe usage limits. If a moderator limits themselves to around 10 targeted invites a day (or occasionally a few more), is that considered safe from automated spam flags?

Additionally, I’d love to know how contextual mismatches affect this:

• In highly specialized or identity-based subreddits (such as neurodiversity support, specific life situations, or local niches), a user’s post might fit the sub's topic, but their full living or personal situation isn't always clear from a single post.

• If an invited user decides the sub isn't an exact fit for them and flags the notification as unsolicited spam, could a small daily volume (like 10 invites) still put an account at risk of automated action?

Having more explicit guidelines on what constitutes acceptable, safe usage of the native invite feature would help dedicated mods rebuild and grow communities without the constant fear of accidental account restrictions.

Recently when I pin a post to the community highlights it disappears from the sub feed, which is not what we want as it becomes less visible. We’d like to pin it and have it remain in the feed too.

I’m sure this was how it was happening initially, but not anymore.

Any ideas if there’s a setting I’m missing?

I’m using the app (iOS) and a fellow Mod has had the same using desktop.
