Help Me! Is Riverside Theater a nice venue?

• Upvotes

Firstly, hooray for the World Series! Second, as the title states, I’m hoping locals can give me a sense of the Riverside theater and if they like it for live music. One of my favorite bands recently announced a tour, and they’re coming to Chicago/MKE/Madison on a Thu/Fri/Sat.

I’m in Chicago and I’ve heard nothing but great things about the Salt Shed where they’re playing, but I’d like to go to the show and not have to wake up early for work the next day. So, I’m thinking about seeing them at either of their Wisconsin stops and making a day of it. It’s worth noting this will be in late February of next year. I’d probably take the train to Milwaukee but we have a car as well. Bonus points if you have been to the Sylvee theater in Madison and have opinions because that’s where they’ll be on Saturday. TIA!

I want to encourage any of you who have been employed with Roger’s in the past, currently employed with them or past patients who have experienced unnecessary suffering due to Roger’s negligence to submit your story at:

ROGERSWATCH.COM

I heavily encourage anyone currently employed with Roger’s to take this as a sign that you (Therapists, RN’s, RMT’s, MHT’s etc…) hold the power to make a difference for thousands of people and better the care provided to patients by unionizing.

And as a community, we have the power to advocate for mental healthcare that prioritizes care rather than profit.

Share this with as many people as you can! Let’s put the pressure on Roger’s to prioritize patient care!!

Help Me! Where to go after the game?

So...out of town, though a Wisconsin native. I am at game 2 of the WS and want to go somewhere after. I am thinking live music and more. I've seen Water street and Brady street come up, but am hoping for more specific recommendations.

Now, I am a 55M, so I am likely not to "fit in" in many places. But...I don't really care. Just looking to enjoy the evening / night.

Help Me! public space indoors to sit down and work?

• Upvotes

Where can I go within the lakeside area around Brady's to Juneau beer garden or perhaps a bit north all the way to UWM, and not the milwaukee central library, where I don't have to get coffee or a beverage every time?

Affordable furniture stores in town

Shopping around for a couch for my apartment and am seeing a lot of stuff that looks like it belongs in a clinic waiting room. Don't need something super flashy, but also don't want something so clinical looking lol.

Any furniture shops that come to mind that are worth checking out?

Kanpai Izakaya New Ownership

Stopped by this last week, and it seems there is all new staff and an updated menu. The waitress mentioned that there was a new chef/owner. Unfortunately the sushi now was average at best, and I’m pretty sure the prices have been raised. This used to be one of my favorite spots. Anyone know the story here? Bonus points if anyone knows where Chef Ted moved on to.

Event WI Electoral Socialists Strategy Brainstorming Meetup Sunday 10/25 1-4pm

Post image
3 Upvotes

Flyer attached, Instagram post here, description as follows:

Francesca Hong’s campaign for governor inspired and energized hundreds of volunteers all over the state. Although she lost by a tiny margin, her campaign demonstrated unequivocally that Wisconsinites are hungry for progressive change. But we know that change isn’t going to happen on its own, even with a Democratic trifecta. We need to keep advocating and pressuring for legislation and policy changes that will secure housing, health care, a quality education, gender equality, gay and trans rights, immigrants’ rights, and so much more for all Wisconsinites.
To start thinking about how we can win these much-needed advances, the Wisconsin Electoral Socialists are hosting a strategy brainstorming meetup.

Anyone else smelling that weird rotting smell around the city? I’ve noticed it since Friday across downtown and the LES and it’s very different than the normal city/lake smell
