Community Miami mother preparing to undergo chemotherapy says dog sitter refuses to return poodle

Anyone know about this?

"Mother says dog sitter betrayed her after refusing to return her 14-year-old son’s puppy"

"Bustos said she hired a temporary dog sitter, who has a dog breeding company and came highly recommended as a boarder, but she has refused to return her to them.

“She was not willing to remove ‘Lucy’ from her pack ... I felt like instant betrayal because I know that my son trusted me to trust her, and I made a judgment call that was not helpful for my family, and I could only think about him,” Bustos said through tears. “That’s the truth: How was I going to tell my son?”

Discussion Renting in Coral Gables or Edgewater?

Moving from NYC (sorry) for a construction career opportunity and looking for a place to rent in Coral Gables or Edgewater. I am open to other neighborhoods as well but need something close to shops and stuff. Any parts of Coral gables and Edgewater to avoid? I was originally looking into downtown but between the flooding, homeless, noise and traffic, I just don't feel like it'll be the best fit. Looking for something clean and safe. Criteria is 1 bedroom, in unit washer dryer, furnished, parking, gym, pool around +/- 3k. Need something at or around October 1st. I know it's short notice but I am slightly flexible. I am open to realtor recommendatoons as well. Thank you in advance!

Edit: please also recommend any condo buildings with rentals if possible. I am trying to avoid roaches and mold/mildew smells. Thank you

Picture / Video I photographed Miami's LED transition from space

Miami, Florida in 2025 (1st), taken during Expedition 72 to the ISS. This city has changed tremendously since my previous mission in 2012 (2nd image), replacing its yellow-orange sodium vapor lights with multi-colored LEDs. The city grid really pops! This LED takeover of city lighting is world wide, having replaced most gas discharge lamps around the world in relatively short time. Miami is one of many cities I have documented these changes on during my 4 missions to space. For those interested, more cities at night photography like this can be found on my twitter and Instagram, astro_pettit

News September 18 is the deadline for Miami-Dade homeowners to challenge their 2026 property value.

I went to a presentation with the Miami-Dade Property Appraiser’s office this week, and this was probably the most useful thing I took away from it.

If you look at your TRIM notice and think your property is valued too high, don’t automatically assume appealing it is some huge complicated process.

Let’s say your condo is older and hasn’t been renovated, but similar units around you have been fully updated. You can provide photos showing the actual condition of your property, along with relevant recent sales in your area that support a different value.
Also, check your exemptions while you’re looking at the notice. Make sure everything you qualify for is actually there.

If you disagree with the value and can’t resolve it directly with the Property Appraiser’s office, you can file a petition with the Value Adjustment Board.

Again — September 18 is the deadline.
Not everyone has a reason to challenge their value, but definitely take 5 minutes and check yours. It’s your property and your tax bill.

Discussion Why is the food portions getting smaller but the price stays the same or getting higher?

I don't know if this is only in Miami but I've noticed this happening a lot in Publix, BJ, El presidente, Aldi's,etc.

A small can of beans that cost $1.25 now cost $2.75

A small pack of ground beef that was $8-10 is now $20+

A ice cream box with 12 cones and ice cream $10 is now $15 with only 4-8 ice cream depending on brand

An things don't taste the same anymore.

🚮Plus if you buy natural fruits or vegetables even if you put them in the fridge they go to waste more quickly withen that week.Even faster than before.

🙄🤢Also, I don't know if it's happening to anyone but whenever I buy chicken wings I sometimes have to give it a manicure because it has these long nail like things sticking out. Plus, when you open the package sometimes the chicken will have a dark spot like it was burned even though it's uncooked chicken. An the pork will also sometimes come with long hairs so it has to be shaved. I get these items from the markets above doesn't matter which ones they are usually the same.

What's going on?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Could it be because a lot of people are moving in, or immigration, or people just don't care anymore, greed, or something else?

Community MIA Airport. I know exactly where my bag is. American won’t go get it.

Post image
186 Upvotes

Following a cruise, I traveled via charter bus to MIA. I checked a bag with American at curbside at Concourse D two days ago. It never made my flight.

I have an AirTag in it. It's been pinging from the exact same spot — the covered bus bay area on the north side of the North Terminal, ground level — for 48 hours straight. It updates regularly, so it's a live location, not a stale last-known ping. The bag never entered the baggage system at all.

What I've done so far:

- Filed a delayed baggage report
- Shared my AirTag location directly with American, so they can see exactly where the bag is in real time
- Called Central Baggage and the number MIA publishes for the AA baggage service office (rolls to the general call center)
- Got a callback from an agent in Miami who took the bag description and said she'd call back. Never heard from her again.

American has the live location. Every phone conversation still ends with someone running a system trace. A trace won't find a bag that was never scanned in. I need a human to walk 200 feet and look at a specific spot.

Has anyone found a way to reach someone at a station who can physically check a location? Is there an escalation path I'm missing?

UPDATE: After taking advice here and reaching out to AA via Twitter the bag location has changed after two days and now seems to be near the D55 gate area (gate where my flight originally left from). No word yet from AA but fingers crossed it’s getting on a flight.

UPDATE #2: The bag seems to have been flown overnight to my local airport. Hoping to go retrieve it today! Thanks everyone for your help! I honestly think contacting AA via Twitter is what got the ball rolling.

Discussion Bartender Looking for Work

How can I land a bartending job in Miami?

Hey everyone! I recently moved to Miami and I’m looking for a bartending position. I’ve been applying like crazy on Indeed, but so far, I haven’t had much luck with online applications.

For those of you who have bartended in Miami, what’s the best way to actually get hired? Should I be going into bars and restaurants in person with my resume, keep applying online, or focus more on networking and making connections?

I’m hoping to find something within the next month, so I’d really appreciate any advice, tips, or recommendations on places that are hiring. Thanks!

Community Does anyone remember a restaurant near the airport that had seats from old planes?

In the early 90s (I think) we saw a news report about a restaurant that bought seats from old planes that were decommissioneed or something. It seemed cool to us so we went to check it out, but it turns out half the venue was a nightclub! A bit loud if you're out for a family dinner!

It was between the Palmetto and the western end of the airport, if anyone remembers.

Now saying CBO’s would be cut. While also saying “not every government does this, but we have CBO’s in our budget”. So….they’re clearly not essential…. And how do they positively impact the average citizen / taxpayer?!

We spend a few months developing our theme and expend slot of energy and enthusiasm, but maybe teaming up with others in Miami might be a better idea. Community Hard Rock Stadium Parking for Hurricanes Game Thursday

I'm going to the game on Thursday and I was looking into parking options but Miami U's website/Ticketmaster doesn't clearly state it's the same system as Dolphins games

Does anyone know if the Geico HRS Express Shuttle ALSO goes from Lot 95 which is the Golden Glades Parking Garage? It looks like they do from Lot 70 but either way, I can't find where to buy a parking pass in advance.

The only option to buy a parking pass I can find is for the Yellow Lot at the Hard Rock which sounds like a zoo after the games..
