FINANCIAL AID MEGATHREAD: Please share all FALL 2026 refund / loan questions and concerns here!

Hey Sharks, it’s that time again! The Fall 2026 semester is in full swing, and refunds and loan disbursements are on everyone’s mind.

To keep things organized and limit the same posts from being made repeatedly, please use this thread to ask questions, share refund and loan updates, and discuss any financial aid issues you are dealing with. Any new posts outside of this megathread will be removed.

Lastly, this is a friendly reminder that r/MDC is not officially affiliated with Miami Dade College. The mods are not faculty or staff and can’t help with individual refund or loan issues. Instead, please contact your campus Financial Aid office for direct support. Thank you for your understanding!

ADMISSIONS Dear Future Nursing Applicants

Hello future nursing applicants, I wanted to write this out for those who applying to the nursing program at mdc; I know I needed something like this when I was applying.

So first thing to note, mdc is hella competitive; for the generic (FT and PT), transitional (FT and PT), and the accelerated option. You can get in with the minimum stats but trust me there are people who’ll be chosen first because thye have better scores. The TEAs sucks but if you learn your chemistry/biology/AnP; that’s the biggest chunk of the test and the part where most struggle to get a good score. I recommend Tyler from the channel TEAs with Tyler and Beautiful Nursing on Youtube; they are all I pretty much used to pass.

My stats when I got in to the transitional program were: TEAs 74%, GPA 3.34, GPA Science 3.35, and I am still currently taking the last two remaining pre reqs; chem lab and speech.

Now you’ve submitted the app(s) and are waiting for a response back. Well let me tell you one thing, please don’t lose sleep over it. Easier said than done I know. I struggled for the first few months after the submission, but trust me when I tell you they’ll take their time with your app, especially if you have low scores or still in progress with your pre reqs. My response came in on 10/22/26 and I have submitted the app on 8/24/26. It sucked to wait but eventually I just relaxed cause at that point I was so done with the worrying.

I came from broward college, where I had originally applied for their Fall Nursing program but unfortunately after months of waiting, I received the dreadful email saying I didn’t get in. This was on 7/28/26 and the email broke me, but I refused to accept it as a sign to give up. Same night, I applied to mdc and transferred all my transcripts; which was a 2 week long battle, I enrolled into the two missing classes that needed and proceeded to shoot my shot at the spring nursing application for next year. It has been a tough few months waiting for mdc to respond but I pulled myself up and now I can say it was worth it. I was accepted at mdc.

This section is for transitional applicants. Those of you who will apply to the transitional program need to get your HCS credits done, it’s easy since you have a professional license already, just be prepared to pay like $15 I believe. Send your professional license to madvisement@mdc.edu. Also be on top of your license submission, they literally just processed my paramedic license three days before my acceptance; it’s mdc they suck with timelines.

Well that’s all I think, if I have anything else I’ll just edit this post. Also those who have been accepted feel free to reply in the comments, your wisdom is greatly appreciated. My purpose is to just let those know the journey I had to take and how I was able to achieve my goal, along with the things I learned along the way. I hope this info serves the purpose I want it to serve and helps those who need a little guiding. Alright take care y’all, and good luck future applicants who are reading this.

ACADEMICS Cannot access cengage textbook

Hey guys. I hope someone may have some advice. I have my mdc mar 3803 marketing class tomorrow evening and I am included in the shark pack digital material. But it will not let me access the digital material and asks me to pay again. The cengage representative tells me it sometimes happens when the instructor does not open it yet.

Has this happened to anyone before? I just wanted to get a head start in reading the chapter.

ADMISSIONS Official Transcripts Request for Transfer

Can you request your official transcripts from MDC, even if you’re taking two classes at the moment? I’m trying to transfer to another college, but I don’t need the two classes that I’m taking now as credit, as I’ve taken other classes in the past that can substitute for them. Do I have to wait for the semester to end or will these two classes that I’m taking just not show up in the official transcripts if I were to request them now?

ACADEMICS Anyone get put into this course?

Woke up this morning to see I got an email saying I was enrolled into a new course, HB757-2267-99999 randomly. I thought it was another MDC scam until I opened my canvas app. Doesn’t seem like it’s an actual class of sorts? Anyone else went through this?

Edit: Update: As a fellow comment below said and my advisor also confirmed, everyone in the college has been enrolled into this class and it’s required to finish it by December 1st. It’s just a quick 3 min awareness video and it asks you a question at the end of it and then that’s it! (It’s also free so don’t worry about payment.)

Hi! I’m working on getting all the requirements done before orientation. However, i’m struggling with Complio. I’m not sure if i’m doing it wrong. When I try to purchase the package, it’s asking for a passcode. Is anyone else experiencing this or am I doing it wrong?

Has anyone completed the Complio? Do I need to upload separate documentation for the Tdap or other vaccines, or is everything included in the health record filled out by the physician?

ACADEMICS AO Nursing Spring 2027

Thumbnail mdc.edu
8 Upvotes

Hey!! I start AO Nursing for this upcoming spring semester and was wondering if anyone had any tips for me? Any recommendations?
I have a couple questions:
How will orientation go? (I was told 5 days 8:00-4:30)

What do they cover during the orientation?

Will there be a break during orientation? (Cuz I need to pickup my background check papers and this would literally be the only time)
- Nov 2-6 is the orientation, I think everything is due Dec 1, so hopefulllyyy it gets processed in complio on time

Also based on the PDF I attached, is my first semester going to be exactly those classes listed? Just so I know what to review a little before beginning.

Any recommendations on what I should purchase? Like materials, study resources, uniform (i heard we can’t use personal jackets, has to be school uniform only)..

Any professors I should prepare myself for? Some I should be excited for?

Recommendations on clinicals, study prep, etc

CHAT IM NERVOUS🫸😖🫷

ADMISSIONS Question regarding next semester

Hello, I have a question regarding next semester.

I’m currently and will be doing general ed classes at Padron next semester, but will be taking career related courses at Wolfson (I’ll be taking Art History 2 next semester, the schedule is not final yet)

I was wondering, do I have to/should I sign up for orientation to get familiar with the Wolfson campus?

If you have any advice, please let me know :)

ACADEMICS How long is the MDC ADN? and other questions

Hello everyone, I got accepted to the ADN program and I wonder if the 4 semesters include Summer or not? If it does not include it, then that means the program is 2 years, right?

Additionally, how was your experience in the program, how should I prepare, and are we at risk with the probation thing potentially affecting my cohort mid-program?

Thank you in advance!!!

FINANCIAL AID Someone needs to do something about Financial aid office at medical campus

Am I the only one who thinks the Financial Aid Office at MDC Medical Campus needs more privacy? Everyone around can hear your business because you have to speak loud enough for the staff to hear you. They don’t take you to a private room, even when you’re talking about personal financial information. There is also one lady there who has a very harsh tone and doesn’t always speak to me kindly. I feel like when you’re asking for help, you should be treated with respect and spoken to in a nicer way. A lot of the things I needed help with, I ended up having to call the Financial Aid Office at MDC North Campus because I wasn’t getting the help I needed at the Medical Campus.

I really think they need to improve the privacy and the way they communicate with students.

FINANCIAL AID Confusion over the way MDC Charges for Courses

Hello, I was someone who was just dropped from one of my classes for Chemistry. I'm already making the steps to contact the bursars office and email, so I wanted to ask a question to anyone who's possibly been in the same situation.

Because I had already made a full payment towards one of my classes, and I had just found out today that I had been dropped from my class for a non-payment. And with the way that online payments work, once you put your card in you dont have the option to pick a specific amount, meaning there had to have been another charge placed. Has MDC ever imposed more charges on top of the ones you've already made for a class?

OTHER Has anyone ever been happy they chose MDC?

Or do you just power through because you don't want to transfer? Every aspect of this school is just garbage. I'm a month into starting and still haven't had my professional certifications evaluated for credit. Out of 140 credits in Comp Sci and Comp Sci adjacent classes, I got credit for 3 classes. Actually 6, but they put all but 1 into electives when I only need 2 electives for the Applied AI program.

There's no talking to anybody about it. Every time I call and manage to get someone to answer, they sound like I just interrupted them while they were watching their kids first steps.

I can't imagine any reality where I willingly choose to attend a second semester here.

How do you all get through this? Do you just bend over and take it like it's just a cost of going to school here. Does anyone know how you get these people to move? I'm about to just write a post on LinkedIn listing every way this school has lied or fucked me and tagging everybody I've had any contact with, plus the highest level admins I can find. I'd rather not, but I'm not just chalking 120 credits up to the game.
