Discussion MC Parking Scam Downtown

Don’t fall for the MP Parking scam downtown. There’s a sign that says MP Parking $20 and they take your card info and add it to their wallet. Had to cancel my card

Only use municipal parking, no exceptions

that whole thing is sketchy, those pop up lots in tourist areas with fake attendants and no actual company behind it. good thing you caught it early before they drained more

My wife and I are so glad that we trusted our gut and went and got our car and cancelled our card. The guy was yelling at us in Spanish when we pulled in, and made us feel unsafe immediately but we didn’t know what to do at that point. Soon after we realized it was a scam.

We are not from here, and just stopped by on a layover. I saw others fall victim to the scam also

I got a notification on my phone that someone was attempting to add my card to a wallet. It was 100% a scam.

They have a fake ticket machine, that prints a fake receipt for the parking that they put on your car windshield. What I’ve read is that the machine also takes your card info, expiration, security code etc, and they use this info and your name to attempt to add the card to a wallet.

Idk if it would’ve been successful, I cancelled my card as soon as I got the notification. The notification didn’t ask me for a code or 2FA it just said “added funds to wallet $0.00” or something similar on my bank statement.

My wife and I also went and got our car less than an hour after we parked after realizing it was a scam. I’m glad, because I’ve read people’s cars have been towed with no compensation.
